Stable Kayaks
I prefer to stand to fish. It helps with sight fishing for me, as well as just how I run jerk baits and crank baits with my rod down towards the water. Def tough fishing in the wind, days like that I have to switch up a little, but for the most part I usually fish 50% of the time in the standing position in my Atak. My other boats very little though. Like my OK prowler I like to sit sideways with my feet in the water during the warm season. Also having your legs in the water really helps with wind movement..

Buying A Kayak
Awesome boat! Very cool, have fun...

Losing Fish Kayak Side
When Im fishing murky water I make SURE to double hook set in many cases. Change out hooks, use trailer h If I had $20 for every chunky largemouth that I caught only on the trailer hook, I could buy a nice bass boat!

Got My First Big Kayak Tournament Coming Up
I would also suggest to do your research. Know what baits you are using, water temps, maps and so forth. For me, I also make sure to tie on all my baits before hand with said research. The last tourney I did I had 8 rods set up on my yak... The more time your line is in the water, the better your chances are.

Stable Kayaks
Im with you 100% on the ATAK... Ive got a bass boat, a jon boat, two canoes, three kayaks and a float tube, And the ATAK is the only boat I take out anymore! And I also agree with the practice comment, any "stand able" kayak is going to work if a person just spends the time using it and seeing its limitations..

The Funniest Thing Youve Ever Seen On The Water Or At The Ramp
Fishing crank baits in a pond with a buddy. He was across the pond from me, as I was tying a different bait on and I saw him over head cast, and get snagged in a tree behind him. Instead of turning, he proceeded to try and yank it free, while still holding the rod over his head. Lure came loose, hit him in the head, and he yelled as he fell in face first in the water. He didn't get hurt, but man that was funny...

How Do You Prepare
Simple. Kayak in back of truck. I leave 4 rods ( two spinning, two bait casters) In my ATAK. yak attack blackPack, go pro and fish finder in back seat of truck. Moments notice. Try to store it all together, so you are not rounding up gear to go.

Braided Line
I use 30lb braid on all of my bait casters. Never had an issue.

Stable Kayaks
Hobie makes nice boats. I demo'd the pro 14...I liked it but there were some flaws that just stuck in my craw...No rod storage, crazy weight of 150 pounds, the fact it has to be taken apart to haul in a truck, and all this is not even mentioning the fact it is easily twice the cost of other top of the line fishing yaks... It just seemed too much overkill to fish for bass in local lakes. Granted if I was an ocean guy it might be different.

Stable Kayaks
I fish out a few different Yaks, and started with canoes way back in the day. I personally didn't like the jackson, but it was a solid boat, I agree with the above poster that mentioned if the big rig was too unstable, possibly kayaks are not your thing. Ive got a Native slayer for ponds, A ocean kayak trident 13 for big water, but my main boat is a the Wilderness atak. The atak is the most stable but still being functional of all the kayaks Ive fished or demo'd... I use it for local tourneys and everything from big water, the delta, or even local ponds... I can stand in it all day with no issues... But remember, standing in a yak comes with experience. Demo'ing someone else's boat, and standing up in it the first ten minutes is not going to give you an accurate feel for it, like owning one and fishing out of it for months and months... I would suggest just picking a boat that you know you can stand in, and just learn to use it.

"best" Time To Buy Tackle
Im so in with the Tackle warehouse driver that he texts me letting me know he is on his way, and to have coffee ready. I live in Cali and TW has a overnight for $5 so for me I would say the best time for me to buy tackle is when Im awake since Ive got stuff coming in constantly!

Keeping Accessories Organized In Your Kayak
That was my issue as well. So I picked up a NRS chinook, then loaded all my go to stuff in it. Now I just put it on most of the time....Its teaching me to wear a vest no matter what....Im getting better at it I guess! My OK trident, and Native slayer are a bit harder to store stuff. But with my atak, its downright easy to find a place for everything.

Keeping Accessories Organized In Your Kayak

Guess I'm Not A Fisherman...
It happens. Ive had to switch my fishing to smaller ponds since Ive been skunked two days at my local big lake... But that changes tonight! Day three will yield fish! Thats the trick, summer time its already tougher, so just keep at it. You can also ask other fisherman what has worked for them, or local shop what is working in your waters. When in doubt, top water at sunset or sunrise should proceed something!

War Eagle Screamin Eagle Spinnerbait
Yup War eagles are whats up!

Whopper Plopper!
I just straight retrieve, pop it with pauses and a few times I just throw it, then let it sit for a few minutes and it was getting hit... Im going to see if it was a fluke tomorrow after work at a different lake...

Whopper Plopper!
I've had one in my tackle box on my kayak for ever....Cant remember last time I used it. Decided tonight to start my evening session off with one tied on. Did 6 fish in an hour, one of the 2.5 pounds... I forgot how much fun top water is I guess. Anyone have luck with the WP?

Do You Fish Alone Or With A Buddy?
I have a few friends I fish with, but they aren't serious. I fish three different lakes, each one once a week. So many people just can't find time to fish three days a week which leaves me fishing on my own, which I prefer anyway...

When Is The Best Time To Buy A Kayak/canoe?
This! I found a nice perception over the weekend for a friend. Dirt cheap. But here in Cali, in the Sierra's our stores drop their prices this time of year... And for the comment about ACK. I can't say enough for that company...Walked in and bought my first yak with them in 05, and they have been sending me boats every few years ever since. So with all that said, the best time to buy a kayak is when you have the money.

Any Kayakers Use A Trailer?
Ive been using my truck, with a Tbone extender, and a lumber rack to haul two different boats, but Ive really had an interest of in the malone 4 yak trailer....Almost 2k though... Be nice to haul all the boats on it, with everyone in one vehicle for once....

Cheap, Starter Kayak
Ive got a old town vapor. Its a sit in, but its a great fishing boat...I use it for ponds that I dont want to haul my atak or trident out for.... Austin canoe and kayak has them online with free shipping...
