  1. bass109: I really like that one at the bottem in your 2nd post. What a different cb that is, bet it catches fish to.
  2. Without reading all the posts above I will give my opinion. Lucky Craft baits are expensive. Buying one or two here and there isnt but if you like to try and stock your favorite series of any bait like most do (meaning all colors) Lucky Craft is very expensive. I dont know if anyone else has noticed this but their baits all seem to have droped a good 5 dollars on each bait average. They are still pricey. When you buy a Lucky Craft your buying a hand tuned, tank tested, high tolerance engineered, pro angler tested, highest quality materials used, bait that works right out of the box. I use to flip about the price and still do in my own head sometimes. Look at it this way though, when buying other baits lots dont have the same development enviroments. Manufacturers will cut back costs and engineering expenses to keep the price down. Its all about the money for almost all companys. If they can make a few extra bucks by cutting back on something and still selling more without effecting the overall product too much then they will do it and thats exactly what they do. When buying the other baits lots dont work proper right out of the box either. The most accurate saying ever said when dealing with purchases in most cases is this.. "You get what you pay for." For diehard anglers spending the extra 5-15 dollars in some cases is worth it. You get baits that will stand up to the challenge and exceed the performance of similar baits. Baits that I buy and use on the water and are pricey are Lucky Craft, Jackall, Evergreen, and MegaBass. All are pricey and all really do work and stand up to abuse better for me then some other lures. So you ask me if Lucky Craft is worth the price? My answer is yes, its worth every penny (although I argue that when im buying it lol). Does this mean your going to catch way more fish then others including yourself if you buy all these high priced lures? No.. it doesnt. The key in my opinion is to be versatile. I know a couple lakes that I fish for Bass in that I wont throw a Lucky Craft in at all. Why? Because everyones buying those same lures and using them on the same lake thats located 15 minutes away from the Bass Pro Shop they baught them from. So I throw something out there that the Bass never seen or rarely do. Expensive lures wont make you a better fisherman but if used at the right times it can pull in that "Lunker that got away". Hope this helps, good luck.
  3. Well I was very skeptical about dumping money on the Lucky Craft Rick Clunn series after having numerous other crankbaits and everyone knows Lucky Craft is very pricey if you buy them by series and stock them. So I did this, I picked up one Clunn LC 2.5 in Copper Green Shad. I fished it using 20lb test Sufix PBraid. The results suprised me.. I was expecting another bait that would get mild use compared to my DTs.. Rattle N'Vibes.. etc that get used a lot but I soon learned this crankbait is in a class of its own. This one bait has been excellent for me this Fall in catching pressured Bass and it performs excellent on my braid. So after a long talk with the baitmonkey we came to a conclusion.. I need all eight colors (who knows when ill need them and they arent made anymore) produced in the 2.5 series because they flat out work and I dont have as many options for pressured Bass as I do with other situations. I like this bait better then the Manns Baby 1- which until recently was my favorite shallow cbait. Someones been holding out on these because I know theres atleast a few of you who use them and produce with them like I have. The whole reason I think that I was skeptical was because it was made for BPS and LC had no info on these baits in their site like they do other baits. Now after reading all this and you understand what im saying hopefully.. how do BPS branded baits work compared to the rest of the industry? Some of their flat cranks have caught my attention. Cabelas came out with a LVR LIVE series flat cb which im dieing to try as well when the funds allow for it. Do any of you have extensive expierence with any of the baits ive mentioned in my questions? If you can, shed some light on them and the situations in which they have shined for you. Thanks for any info and excuse my enthusiastic attitude which seems to get to some of you for whatever reasons.
  4. Well I can only dream of Peacock Bass in Michigan.. We're the Muskie capital of the world.. with lots of Smallies and Largemouths but more famous for our huge Trouts, Salmon, Pike, Walleye, and Sturgeon but no Peacocks(obvious reasons). Anyways, a pet shop stocks Peacock Bass year round. My wifes, sisters, husband gave me a huge fish tank atleast 70 gallons. He help me set it up. He has grown everything from ALL of Michigans native species to even a few Peacocks. So I baught a 6 inch Peacock Bass from this store that stocks them year round. I will be feeding them goldfish mostly until it hits around the 5lb range. I dont know how long I want to keep it and its health is the number 1 concern for me. My question to you guys is when I grow it to that big would anyone be interested in having it sent to them and releasing it in the wild to enjoy the rest of its life? Im thinking Raul would be the 1st canidate since hes in Mexico and id be more then happy to send it to him when im ready unless some of you live near Peacock Bass and would love to release it for yours and others enjoyment. It sure will have a nice jump start on life.
  5. No reason not to believe it rainbow trout is a killer color for baits and probably one of the most underestimated colors around. Just think of it this way.. all the swimbait fans are using swimbait trouts most of the time so why cant it be a productive color in a lure form? They work good. I have a Rapala Countdown thats a bit old and still pulls in Bass its Rainbow Trout. Bass LOVE trout.. high protein lunker food.
  6. 1) Was wondering if any of you Sammy users have caught smallies on the 100 series? I have on the 85 but have only landed Largemouths on the 100s.. anyone catch smallies consistantly with em? 2) What depths to the different LC RC CB series dive to?
  7. I havent ran into a Rapala lure that doesnt work. The only ones I care to have a good selection of though in my tacklebox are my DT cranks and the X-Raps (XR-8/10)
  8. I had one.. the bag started falling apart (foam insterts, stitching, etc) after heavy use so I sold it to a friend. Im sticking with Plano from now on they've been around forever and have always made quality products. I have a bunch of Sto-Aways that I keep a lot of my tackle in and 4 Pro Latch Sto-Aways that came with my Plano Deluxe Magnum Pro tacklebag. What I do is is keep all my tackle in Plano Sto-Aways organized in what you could call a small book shelf. I pack the bookshelf with Plano Sto-Aways like I would a bunch of books. I then handpick what I want from each labeled Sto-Away and transfer the lures to my 4 Pro Latch Sto Aways in my tackle bag. All my plastics are in their original package but are piled into a few zip-lock freezer bags which are just stored in a nice dark box. I put my drink on one side of the tacklebag, scale goes on the other side, the chosen baits in their four cases in the main compartment, choosen plastics in the back compartment, and another smaller Sto-Away that I keep splitshots, bullet weights, various hooks, fishing tooks, and my Mega Strike (sometimes BANG Craw as well). This works good for me since im in an apartment and space is limited. You can get a million answers that work for people in this thread but its going to come down to what system works best for you. All the tackle bags/boxes/cases out are only tools to help you. The way you choose to use them is whats going to matter. I will be using the Falcon Spinner/Buzz boxes though when I restock my Spinnerbaits as I havent found a Plano system that does that.
  9. A lure that would have a soft flexable yet strong body that could take abuse and then some. This lure would be 4 inches in length have two quality #4 trebles and be in the absolute best Bass pattern you can find. It would house two tungsten plates with 10 glass rattles in a top notch weight transfer system for long, straight, and accurate casts. It would be able to dive on the retrieve then when stoped retrieveing the bait would suspend at the very depth you cranked it to and very slowly rise while vibrating on its own with no action being done to make it do so. It would have a tiny switch with a special tool to switch the routes the rattle will be placed. One setting would keep it perfectly horizontal while the other would tip it just enough so it looks like this symbol-> / but not as strong of a tilt. A bait similar to what I said is just about out there.. but expect to see Lucky Craft, MegaBass, and/or Jackall to make it.. maybe even Evergreen.. if ofcourse it comes out.
  10. Im way more interested in the wood Sammy then the live one. The live one takes away a lot of the action that you create when you walk the dog with the plain ol' one. I must get me some wood ones.
  11. I dont need anything.. i was already given fish to catch.
  12. It really looked like you Avid, they were talking about how the voting machines are so easy to infiltrate and possibley change elections (GWBushes last election for example). It showed the guy in a green canoe fishing with a baitcaster and talking about it. If you guys download stuff off anywhere do a search for it, im sure youll find it.
  13. With some brands you can get away with buying before using. For example if you own a few GLoomis or other brand rods and are use to their ratings youll be safe buying based off their action/power ratings. I baught my 1st Loomis though without using one.. it was well worth the gamble. If your buying like that try to relate to people who seem to fish your style and get their opinions. If you have any doubts at all though thats your smarter side telling you dont do it.
  14. lol @ this.. that is bad news with that over your head.. just asking for a broken face or worse.
  15. Yes, topwater in fall is excellent for me. Better when warm fronts come in.. pulls them out the deeper water.
  16. Was watching an HBO documentary last night titled "Hacking Democracy" it was a pretty crazy show if any of you ever saw it and is probably the reason why Bush is in office now. Anyway, I saw Avid on there in his canoe fishing. I swear it showed a guy that looked just like him in a canoe with a baitcaster fishing and talking about stuff related to the show in Florida. ill get back to this thread later..
  17. Good read, good info.. which brings up the question why do we (I) pay for these expensive lures when they cant even see them like we can. The answer is the action (for me) when regarding more of my pricey lures. I am a collector though and a few lures I have will never see water. Any thing with green in it is dynamite for me and by far my favorite color in a lure.
  18. My wife uses it, I upgraded it for her. All problems with IE7 are always being worked out.. Me? I use Opera.. IE believe it or not is more secure then Fire Fox.. Fire Fox is open source, open source gives you more freedom but also gives others more freedom to attack you. To clear up the topic starting post.. you can NOT uninstall any version of IE because its an actual part of your Windows system. IE7 or not your stuck with it on your system but not forced to use it.
  19. Suspending baits work excellent right after a storm, reason being the rain will bring up the dirt and make the water muddy in some areas but the closer you get to the top of the water the less and less muddy it is. A suspending jerkbait if placed right will perform at its best right above the thick stuff. This is what works for me.
  20. Slender pointers work better for Smallmouths and regular pointers for Largemouth. Out of all the pointers "live" being aside I prefer the 100SP.. even for smallies.
  21. I know about the * stuff but im not asking about the online BPS I have one about 20 minutes from me and am wanting some Lucky Craft stuff in Bass paterns and was wondering if I would be able to get them over this winter. I know I should be asking them but I just thought id ask.
  22. I have a few 100 SPs.. looks aside the ones that just flat out produce for me are Ghost Minnow, Mild Shad, Pearl Ayu. If you like the regular Pointers you need to try the live pointers. Aurora Green Perch has been getting slamed for me. The lures taking a beating the last week. Im trying to put as much pressure on it before im done for the seaon to see just how long the double-joints will hold up.
  23. No price concern: Lucky Craft Live Pointers (95 MR is my all around choice) Yo-Zuri Rattle N Vibes Spro Aruku Shad 75 Yo-Zuri DRUM Lucky Craft Pointer Lucky Craft Sammy Price concerned: Wide wobble cranks are said to be bad in cold weather but my Rapala DTs are telling a different story. Rapala Husky Jerks, solid jerkbaits at a cheap price. Rapala X-Raps, not producing as much as they were when it was warmer but still are working. Regardless of price these are some of the best jerkbaits out right now. Shad Rap RS (P.S. Rapala, Sponsor Me!) The suspending and high flash tight wobble cranks I have have been producing the most.
  24. Out of those two ZOOM for sure and its not even close for me. The Berkley baits are OKAY but theirs just something about ZOOM that catches me fish and lots of em when I use them. For the price they cannot be beat.
  25. Does anyone know if all Bass Pro Shops stock lures and fishing equipment year round?
