  1. I downloaded some video thing from doug hanna and i saw him use this plastic snake. Has anyone ever used it or is it in the gimmick section for baits? I don't remeber clearly but i do know there are some plastic worms out there that do float don't they?
  2. Never even heard of a fenwick before bucketmouth...I'll have to try it when my ugly stik breaks or when i get money:). I don't even know if the stores here carry fenwick..
  3. Goldfish are classified as a pet. So they say its animal cruelty. You get fined in jersey if someone reports you or you get caught. I use something called red rosies, only for crappies. Sometimes bass hit them too.
  4. > hey whats wrong with ugly stiks? I;ve used one for about 5 years as a bass rod and it has served me well. Its a medium action 6'. I don't know why you guys say it has no senitivity, i can feel every nibble on my rod. Although the foam on it is alittle worn. On the other hand,Berkley lighting rods, i would never get one again. I had a 4lb bass on and the rod broke when i was trying to set the hook. But people have different tastes so, see what feels good for ya.
  5. Is there a way i can rougly estimate or some kinda formula that i can do a line conversion? What i mean is that if a reel says that if it can hold 240 yards on an 8lb test , if i put a 12lb test how much can it hold? I've tried to figure it out but, im just stumped.
  6. I voted for shimano. I kinda dont agree wit the person who said their cheap stuff is junk. I bought a ten dollar reel bout 5 years ago and its still working perfectly now:). But i wanted an upgrade so i bought a penn.
  7. Bugs. I have no fear of them, but mosquitos and biting flys(i know it sounds rediculous but they find where u have a cut and bite there). I hate them. 2nd would be weather, to cold or hot, but rain doesn't bother me any, cept if its like a huge t-storm lol.
  8. Green pumkin and chartruse tip on a all around day. Sunny, green pumkin and watermelon.
  9. Yes polarized glasses do help see bassin the water since it ruduces glare. Now, i see alot of people saying im stupid blah blah blah etc etc. Eye protection isn't for me, its uncofortable, i cant stand it. But i mean what i say, i've never had a single accident where i had a hook in my skin, or something like that. I don't know bout you guys but, i don't set the hook at random and have the hook flying out or something.
  10. How long have you guys been fishing? I myself have been fishing for 7 years, over half my life(im 16) and i have never had a single incident where I got hurt, or any of my buddies. There was a rare time where a me or a buddy would slip in the water but thats bout it. I've heard some stories but in the 7 years i've been fishing i've never worn eye protection, never will. Its just how i feel bout it.
  11. That green scum is great for topwater baits man. Throw a senko out there and reel it in the top, a buzz bait, or better yet a jitterbug. That green scum i think creates shadows for the bass, and when they see its disturbed, there are more chances of them striking. I know that when i fished a senko on scum like that, it would be the best topwater action.
  12. Depends on what line i have with me. 10lbs mono test, then i will tire it out alittle. 40lb test 10lbs diameter, i'd haul that sucker in with no fear of losing it ;D
  13. Well you see i can't push...Its a two person thing. There aren't any holes or objects u can put the paddle through, u just gotta row freely like a kayak or canoe.
  14. Ok, me and a buddy of mines picked up a row boat. It has a motor, electric, but we have no battery and for the time being we gotta row(we're broke lol). Anyways when rowing, are there any tips i should know? Lately from what i think how we've been rowing is horrible.
  15. What's a pfd? lol. Anyways I see little people fishing illegally at my lake. Most of the people that fish at my lake always has a license clipped on their hat or pants. I myself am not old enough for a license so i get away with it legally ;D. But as far as keeping fish i don't keep any unless I wana eat it. lol.
  16. Could you skip a fat ika? The body is somewhat similar to a senko but with a skirt.
  17. Hm i'll try to explain the best i can. :-? Its like this, when a senko drops in front, near, or where ever the bass sees it, it looks like a good meal for him. But then theres a reaction strike, kinda like a buzz bait. As we all know buzz baits make noise on top of the water. So the bass senses the buzz because of the noise and water disturbance it sees a good meal. Usually a buzz bait would be reeled slow in most cases, so the bass won't have too chase it much but, on some days they like the buzz churning like hell across the water. Anyways i hope that helps, but, can someone explain to me what the point is of skipping a senko? ;D
  18. I say use spinning reel, bobbers and worms. If not worms then minnows.
  19. Usually my dad takes a huge butcher knife, and CHOP goes the head.
  20. All i can say is, reel your slack in and yank like there ain't no tommorow:). I think that if you keep the tension on the line, the hook won't fall off if you got a good hookset. Most of the time when they jump up i try to reel in the slack really fast so I have tension on my line so the hook won't be spat out by the bass.
  21. Sorry but i have to disagree with you guys. Last year, I went lake fishing, and i fished ON shore. That year my heaviest bass was about 5lbs. I caught a total of 24 bass that season(not counting my cousin who fished along with me). I only fished in the summer since i have school. So i gotta disagree with you guys that shore fishing from a lake is could be decent, depending if there is fish.
  22. Craw i gotta ask you this, how in the world can you know that a fish is in a negative mood? ;D
  23. I don't think theres a specific time. Sometimes the bass hits my senko like from far away, or near. My bro caught a bass just throwing it into a corner, around 4lbs. So i think if the bass is there, and they see it, i think they will strike.
  24. Well, today i had 3 types of rigs. 1. Drop-shot on a frog. I casted near the edges, the middle, everywhere. Not a single hit. 2. T-riged senko, same not a hit 3. When it got alittle darker and cooler i put on a jitterbug, i casted parallel to the shoreline(where i was fishing and saw 2 fishies jump), not a single bite. EDIT: what are hydrilla?, Nvm found out myself, there are no hydrilla where im fishing. The bottom is like a sandy, muddy rocky kinda area.
  25. The water isn't to murkey. About 4-5 feet down i can see down to the bottom. Also, a question bout baby bass. If they are here now, how long will it take for them to grow bigger? Like atleast 1lb and up? I don't think i've ever caught a smallmouth ever.
