I'm getting a little off topic here but wanted to say that Mississippi State University is a leader in research in aquatic farming and vegetation control , which is great and being from the state i'm proud of what the school has done for agriculture . But fact remains that millions of our tax dollars every year are spent on research that is being given to countries like Thailand and Malaysia that are using it to export cheap farm raised shrimp and fish into our country ..Our Gulf Coast shrimpers are going bankrupt at an alarming rate ...I just dont see how this is the right thing to do with the research .

another bad thihg about the draining of Loakfoma was that at least 50% of the fish died .. They thought the fish would go down the creek and eventually end up in the Tenn-Tom Waterway and other creeks ..When the fish started going out they piled up in the first few hundred yards of the creek ... fisherman caught a lot of them , birds , coons , mink , otter and alligators ate many of them ...which is ok i think but when the oxygen levels started falling the fish began to die ..At this point the lake officals began telling fisherman to dip them with nets or whatever ....This is a national refuge , these biologist are supposed to be trained professionals .....they should have known these fish were going to die .. I've heard Bluff Lake called the DEAD SEA for a long time now but this year it made it to the internet . All the flat shallow water is really hard to fish and it's stocked with Florida strain .. This picture is Loakfoma Lake just across the road from Bluff .. It was drained this summer to try to control the vegetation .. I got a mid 80's i believe LCR 4000 that powers up but don't have a transducer ... I have one from an LCR 2000 that works and will hook up to the 4000 ... will the 4000 display accurate information with a transducer for a 2000 ? I've called Hummingbird and they no longer offer parts for these units ..

one thing you would need to watch for is the length of the foot .. The bottom fin on the motor foot should not come below the bottom of the boat ... If it does you could have transom problems .... Large boats with jackplates will take a wide variety of foot lengths ..

I had always used tubes flippin bullrush and this year i went to Gambler's UGLYOTTER ... The fish seen to hold this bait longer giving me more time to react ...I think it's the salt and garlic scent and the small profile makes it work really well in the bullrush ...I have doubled my hookups by changing to this bait ... Anyone else tried this bait ? How long has it been around ?

i think George and Chris got it nailed on this ... Havn't yall noticed that skinny people live longer than fat people ... I think it's the same for bass ,,,in the south they have a longer growing season so they mature faster ..

I like a medium heavy rod up to 7 ft ..... That light line would have to go ...I would probably break it off on the hookset ...

You said it RW ... In about a mounth the fall draw-down on the Corp of Engineer lakes i fish will be underway ... The shad will start moving up creeks and rivers and the bass will be on them .... I'm ready ............ Tim

I fish shinners on a slip float with circle hook ...hooked through both lips .. If the cover ain't too heavy i hook behind the dorsal fin ..

The head and lower jaw meat on a big flathead is really good ...Just takes a lot of time to trim it out ..

I don't mean any disrespect whatsoever so don't take what I'm about to say like that. What you wrote sounds so much like a country song I can hear the music. 8-) My uncle use to take me bream fishing when I was 7 or so. He was just being the great guy that he always was.

My daddy .....and i guess my whole family ....(they all fish ) I can remember waking up in the bottom of the old jon boat on Grenada lake and daddy would say " thought u was gonna sleep all day "...i'd pick up a pole and start fishing ... Momma said she hated gettin me dressed in the middle of the night to let him drag me out in the middle of a water hole ...But she always did it anyway to keep daddy happy ... When he died it took me a couple years to get back into the swing of things ...I had to start making all the decisions on my own , and its hard fishing in an empty boat when i'd never done it before ..

Got out on the lake for a while yesterday evening and noticed a good fish feeding on top ... Couldn't get a strike on top so i picked up a jig and on the 3rd cast , wham , she took it , i set the hook or thought i did ...Had just spooled the reel with new line and had not set the drag ...I would have had a chance except she headed straight for the boat .....couldn't tighten up the drag and reel up slack too ... My PB is 6#14oz ....I feel this fish was bigger than that. How many of yall make these stupid mistakes ? this one may have cost me a new PB ..
