You fish when can and you can’t control the conditions. You can only adapt. I don’t get caught up in it. I do agree with Pat.

It’s just the circular rotation of the wrist to load the rod and finishes with the back of your hand facing up when you release the spool. In the under hand the motion is the opposite and the back of your hand is facing downward at the release point. I much prefer an underhand roll cast because the motion is more natural, it generates more force, and the lure is low and always in your sight as in pitching.

Katie my home lake is also quite shallow. Here’s an observation that you might be apply. This time of year, right now, the fish are gravitating to hard bottoms, especially rock where I can find it. Yellow perch spawn on hard packed bottoms here. Much of the vegetation is beginning itself early fall die off. That produces gasses bass don’t thrive in. I have to move out to edges and look for the green stuff. Wind blows crud to the bank. It looks like a cappuccino on top. I avoid that. Any moving current helps. I also down size my baits by 25 percent including frogs. I don’t fish that lake much as the river provides much more action. 13 smallmouth on top water was my last outing. Good luck.

I haven’t had the opportunity to fish these three but I have a several others I’ve been fishing from one to three years and I like them. They have a tight weave and comfortable texture that is not slick. Very low to no maintenance: take a wet terry cloth and wipe them off. My primary Flippin stick is a first strike and that told me these are comfortable.

Opening weekend is full of hype like Ohio State v Texas. It will settle in by week three. I’m a Ducks fan from the days of Dan Fouts to present. Right now baseball has my attention. I like all sports except curling. Any sport than requires a broom is beyond me. For those who follow track and field, watch the world championships next year because there are some up and comers that are amazing.
