  1. I had that coming . I'm usually very particulate about my spelling.
  2. Who the heck is B. Lat ???
  3. 2000 series Fuego LT. That's well under your budget and a great reel.
  4. I have the same sediment about the Diawa Fuego LT.
  5. That model will be really really fast for anything under 1/2 ounce if it's anything like the Andy Montgomery Elite 7'1" skipping model.
  6. Last year prespawn on a 1/2 ounce Dobyns Beast spinnerbait.
  7. Fleck Weed Waders. Oh the memories. Small hooks though.
  8. Champion 765 Flip. It's light, very well balanced and has some tip. If you want to move up and it's in your budget, then Extreme 745HP full rear grip is awesome. I have extensive time with those two rods. I have yet to fish my Xtasy 755C and it will be in my hand all spring for sure. One more thought, if you like a longer rod, the Extreme 784 HP beefed up the power in the middle third and that could be a great option. I know it is listed as a 4 power but it locks up nice.
  9. I caught two LM over seven pounds on a drop shot at Clear Lake a few years ago. If you put it near a bigger fish, they will eat it. I broke off a really good fish last fall on a drop shot. My buddy told me it was a catfish and then threw right in behind me and caught a 6-4 LM which is still his PB. Go figure.
  10. As you can see....i've lost some weight.
  11. Some one may have broken into his boat and took all his sponsored baits and he had to scramble to find a replacement until his overnight shipment arrived. He may have got them from one of the two Dicks. That's plausible. I guess it's still winter.
  12. You seemed to be pointed toward a 7 footer so I just offered my thoughts as to power in that length. I would not hesitate to go 734. I have four of them. It's the most versatile model Dobyns manufactures and is offered in four different series. Yes it will cast a fluke.
  13. Dobyns indicates the "range" of bait weights on all their rods and the middle of that range is the targeted "sweet spot." Thus the targeted sweet spot for the 704 is 1/2 ounce. The 704 performs at it's best at that weight and generally within a 1/4 ounce either side of the sweet spot, so 3/8 to 5/8 is the optimum range however the rod will handle 1/4 and up to 1 ounce, but not optimally. As far as Dobyns not being put together well, my experience is just the opposite. Fit and finish on the dozens of Dobyns rods I have examined and or own/owned as been exceptional. If you are entertaining a St Croix Mojo, you might want to look at the BASS X series. I'm sure others will chime in in time.
  14. Welcome to the forum. If you plan on a rod for single hook applications up to 1/2 ounce I would suggest you move up to the 704C. Sensitivity in it's price point is as good as anything on the market. You will have the tip for casting and the power to drive the larger hook home. That rod will balance well with a number of reels. If you shop hard the newer Diawa Tatula 100 can be had for 120.00 and it's an excellent reel in it's price point. You can save a few bucks and get a Fuego for far less. I'm impressed with my Tat 100. Good stuff. If you are a Shimano guy, the SLX is getting good comments. If it's Lews, the LSF Tournament MB is another great option. CC
  15. Light Carolina rig for smallmouth.
  16. A-Jay, you need to add this to your bucket list.
  17. Call the shop and ask to speak to Gary. Why the reel won't lock down is beyond me. The 4th image is a 35 series President on a Fury 702. The others speak for themselves. I have four buddies all fishing Fury spinning rods with no issues. I'm sorry about the bad first taste Glaucus.
  18. Sorry man. I was joking. I did order three packs though. I respect a guy who plans ahead.
  19. That's a nice, "almost vintage " combo. Possibly in the hundred buck range. Maybe even more.
  20. Don't complain about lure costs. I just spent $27.00 on bobber stops.
  21. I heard the Columbia River can be a bit snaggy. I'm feeling a bit snagadelic.
  22. I really like that color !!
  23. Rod balance is very important. I would have cut the ATD's off just to be sure.
  24. Mepps spinner about 55 years ago. Four casts , four bass.
  25. I have a new 100. It's an amazing caster. It can handle 1/8 and up. I found mine for 109.00. Well worth it at that price.
