  1. My grandfather on my Dad's side died when he was eleven. I have very few memories of dad's mother as my grandma lived in Saskatchewan. I had limited time with my Mom's parents who were wheat farmers in Alberta. My Grandfather was born in 1885 in Stalbridge England and spent over fours years active artillery duty in Belgium and France during " the Great War" and was gassed. His fingers were always yellow from rolling his own cigarettes. The rest is mine. My dad didn't hunt or fish. He worked six or seven days a week.
  2. I still have six LEWS BB1N's and it's more likely than not they will be buried with me.
  3. I am puzzled. How does practical and jokes fit together?
  4. Norman Middle N and Deep Little N for sure. 6th Sense Curve 55 is for real. Rock Crawler 55, great colors
  5. I've been fishing Dobyns for six years now. I can find a model to cover any need I have in a choice of six different series. St Croix makes a quality rod and I've owned several over the years. The grips are way to short and don't like skeleton reel seats. I think Dobyns are better balanced. The service has been second to none for me. I have not had a single failure to date ( knock on wood ). The way Dobyns rods fish, fits my style.
  6. Get a policy with a separate binder for your sporting goods. Set it up for the replacement cost, not the appraised cost. Photo document your gear and email the photos to your agent. The cost of the binder is worth it if you have over five grand in replacement cost. Just a suggestion. I also typed a detailed inventory with each of my rods and reels and their replacement costs. Home owners and boater policies have limited caps unless you specify an amount to cover your potential loss. When I did this, the company request the SERIAL NUMBERS on my reels and rods. They had no idea they have no such identifiers. Oh, BTW, use MSRP for replacement cost.
  7. First, welcome to the group ! If you are focused on a Diawa product, which is good, the the Elite Andy Montgomery 7'1" skippin rod would be ideal for your application. I know it says it's a heavy action but the tip compensates for that. Outside of that model, I would suggest any Dobyns 733C in the series you can afford.

  9. Let me look at the copy of my citation for no license...............about 1130 hours on April 8th. Most of my biggest smallies came in the last hour of day light in Octobers. My biggest in state largemouth was at 10 AM.
  10. I truly believe an angler can build a quality number of set ups buying pre-owned gear. It takes a little time but it's well worth it. Fish what you've got, take care of it and learn to use it to it's full potential. You can buy the most expensive line on the market and means nothing if you don't check your line or tie a good knot.
  11. Somebody call my name ?
  12. I hope things continue to progress for you Clayton !!
  13. Reliable info posted so far. YZ is good line. Strong because it has a larger diameter for it's test. Good abrasion resistance and knot strength. It develops memory in larger tests. It benefits from line conditioner.
  14. The daffodils next to the front of house are 4 to 6 inches high. Sprouts from the day lilies are also showing green. I expect the spawn to start when my federal taxes are due.

  16. I wonder if Benjamin Franklin spoke any Japanese ?
  17. Can you cay Flippin Tube ? Gitzit. Thank you Mr Garland.
  18. What about the guy from the Portland OR metro area stealing tailgates from pickups and selling them. It's just fishing gear, it's anything and everything.
  19. I bought the Tatula 100 and have it to be an excellent reel. Casting distance and control have been extremely good and it's a good pitching reel. I don't know how you could go wrong.
  20. I'm a huge fan of any Champion model. The 735 full grip is the deal. Gary Dobyns fishes the 736 but he is a Sasquatch.
  21. Three pre rigged crankbait rods and two pre rigged drop shot rots.
