Good. I use all three. What's the perk discount for the Depends ?
  2. The last hurrah ??? My wife said I only smile when I hold a fish. I haven't smiled much this year. The last hurrah ??? My wife said I only smile when I hold a fish. I haven't smiled much this year.
  3. All right.........we are expanding species. I'm going to dig up my seven foot Sturgeon and 46 pound KIng. Beautiful fish LCM
  4. If I was going to buy ???????? Thank heavens my next rod purchase will be 7'3". I couldn't take the pressure of making such a stressful choice under those vague parameters. Get one of each and rotate them.
  5. I don't have a photo of my PB smallmouth but have this one a 5-13. The largemouth is an 8-15.

Cordell Big O's on the right and Poes original RC 1 and RC3's on the left. I cut my cranking teeth on these baits. Lots of good memories.
  7. Failing to protect your skin from UV rays can kill you. Wear a hat, sunglasses, long sleeves, sun gloves and or then the highest SPF sunscreen you can find.
  8. Tom, Did you ever fish the version Bobby Garland marketed as a two piece, collar and twin tail which sold separately in the early 80's ?
  9. I also picked up the 736CB with the intention to throw vibrating jigs. I did quite a bit of research before I bought it and actually had Gary Dobyns give me some input. When I took it out for the first time, the conditions were not optimum for the v-jig but a large 1/2 double willow was the deal. I was really surprised with the way the 736CB handled that bait. I don't know what your taste is for spinner baits or what situations you use them. I'm really liking this composite blank. Some might be hesitant to consider a " 6" power thinking it's over kill. It's not, being it's a "crankbait power." It loads well from 3/8 to 3/4 ounce. The guys I fish with have asked more about this model than any other. If you absolutely don't like a composite blank this is not the rod for you, albeit you already have one.
  10. The 734C would be much better suited for the weight ranges you mentioned.
  11. That combo should balance really well. I also have a Champion 703c and it's extremely versatile.
  12. Try to put both rods side by side if you have a retailer that carries both. My God-son did just that at Sportman's Warehouse. I also encourage you to go to each company's web site and read the warranty/return policy for each. Then when you think you have a model in mind, but want an informed opinion, call each company and see what response you get. When your done, you should be confident in your choice.
  13. Two great observations by Goose and JFranco. The investment group is north American based and already has an interest in sporting goods with relationships in " mass merchandisers." Lews is a well branded name and the company has become established in a very short period of time. Their marketing model seems to be effective. So many variants does seem overwhelming. This acquisition doesn't surprise me. The market share growth rate was impressive. I contributed to that growth. What did surprise me was BPS adding Lews products to their inventory after Reeves parted ways. It makes for interesting conversation.
  14. The TWS feature will feel that way. When you press the spool release bar you not only set the the reel into free spool but pivot the level wind guide to the wide arbor position. It feels "stiff " when you first try the reel but it's normal. All the TWS models require a slightly greater thumb pressure that a non TWS model. Put your reel on a rod and free spool and you'll see it's not as "stiff" as it feels in the hand. The rotation of the T wing is very solid. Fish it some and you'll be pleased with the performance.
  15. Now all you need is to teach them how to use a leaf blower. Sweet.
  16. FR734C with 15 LB. Extremely versatile rod.
  17. Take a look at the Dobyns Champion HP DC794SB. It's rated for 1 to 3 ounce baits and 12 to 25 LB test lines. Another option is the DC764C. That's the model my buddy uses for the lure category you are mentioning. Dobyns has about 8 or 9 SB models and the 794 seems to be a fit for what you are looking at. Hope this helps.
  18. I've seen similar photos. I always thought the owner must have had a heck of a backlash, cut it out and hadn't taken the time to properly fill the spool with new line. Fill the spool to the bevel at the edge of the spool. That's how the reel was designed to reach optimum performance.
  19. World Series baseball in October. Gotta love it.
  20. What ever trailer you add, it should complement your jig by effecting rate of fall while providing subtle action or active action. The mood of the fish and water temperature will dictate that. You can fine tune profile and color once you establish those factors. That's the process I apply and it seems to work okay.
  21. I know how you feel. It's been 19 years for me. When I was 17 I had my appendix out. I remember waking up and reaching out and my Dad took my hand. I still remember what his calloused thick hand felt like and how much comfort it brought. That was 46 years ago. My Dad's name was Lance. I'll be happy to raise a glass in your Dad's memory.
  22. There's about 40 manufactures that produce a stick bait in some form or another. My buddy and I buy Senkos in the 100 pack, split the cost and it runs us $5.60 for an equivalent pack of 10 baits (5 inch). By the the time I factor the cost of truck, boat, fuel launch fee and gear, the least expensive controllable cost is my baits. I can stomach spending another buck and a half. Just a thought.
  23. I like this color pattern.
  24. The answer is no. The Fury 735C has tip and power. Even more, it's balanced. I wish the rating was termed Extra Heavy. You can have an extra heavy action rod with an active tip. The 735 does. If you want to see mag heavy look at the Champion 736 or Extreme 746HP. That's mag heavy. I throw 1/2 ounce HB frogs on braid with mine. Sent you a PM.
