  1. I use Gama straight shank light wire hooks with lighter plastics.
  2. Rooster tails and Snagless Sally's for inline spinners. Square Bill crankbaits are always good too. For plastics I use a lot of craws rigged either Texas or a small dia weedless hook.
  3. Fishing a local lake one sunny morning around a real small island. As I made my way around the island I heard a very loud crashing sound right behind the boat. Scared me into next week! It was a large Whitetail buck that I evidently spooked out of its hiding spot. Pretty sure I was more spooked than the deer.
  4. What a precious baby girl! Do all you can to keep her in your life. You do NOT want to find yourself growing old and your kids wanting nothing to do with you...
  5. Yet another reason why I love the solitude of a farm pond or small river. I basically have zero tolerance for stupid so it's best if I can avoid confrontation of this sort. It never ceases to amaze me how many people think like this guy,but they are everywhere.
  6. Just the sound of it turns me away. Just like that place with the arches, what do these joints make burgers out of anyway? Whatever it is,it sure doesn't look like what I make at home.
  7. Welcome! I've been fishing small streams and rivers for smallies for over 50 years and sometimes I run into situations that stump me as well. Lots of good advice already given, but I'll reiterate the go slow and stealthy comments. It's amazing how little it takes to spook smallmouth in a stream or small river. Walking on rocks and disturbing the bottom is very noisy to a bass. As is splashing the water unnecessarily. Keep the sun in your face as you cast upstream if you can, remember shadows will spook the fish. If you can't just remember to be aware of where you're casting your shadow. Long casts with lures that don't create a lot of splash will also help you. Work the area thoroughly before you move on to the next spot. Hope this helps!
  8. Had a sack of White Castle's once way back in the 80's while on a business trip to Detroit. Ran across at least 8 lanes of traffic to get em'. Ate a few of em'and tossed the rest. Awful.
  9. Management isn't supposed to speak to you? I don't understand that. Is management supposed to ignore you like you're not even there,or what exactly does that mean? By some outlandish "rule" or agreement you pass each other on the job site but don't/won't/can't speak to one another?
  10. I'm about as thick skinned and hard headed(at times)as they come but I refuse to do business with anyone that doesn't treat me as an equal. Wanna act like a fool, they'll do it with someone besides me. Life's too short to put up with morons.
  11. Just yesterday they ran the show where Gomer went to boot camp. For the first time I noticed the other actors were doing all they could not to bust out laughing. Very funny stuff. Also saw the one where they took the kids camping and Barney and Gomer got lost. Classic!
  12. Had a duck grab a plastic worm when I was a kid. Actually took off flying with my worm in its beak! Scared the bejeebers out of me that I was gonna lose my rod and reel. Fortunately it pulled loose about the time the line got tight. That was the last time I ever cast into a bunch of ducks!?
  13. Man that's gotta hurt something awful! Thanks to the Italian side of me courtesy of my mother,I'm so dark skinned that I've only been burned two times in my lifetime. My wife is fair skinned and would burn just like you if she didn't lather on the sun screen all day.
  14. Glad that your family is safe. I used to know a lot of folks in Logan county and they are some of the most resilient people I ever met. Stay safe and stay together and you can get through anything.
  15. Bottom line, and idealologies aside,NOBODY deserves to be slaughtered like that.
  16. Just read yesterday that Kenny Rogers is about to embark on a two year farewell tour. This guy is 74 years old and has 11 year-old kids. Hope his condition don't drop him!
  17. A guy at Bass Pro just told me that. I wonder if you could use a wide rubber band to prevent slippage?
  18. I would like to have a drone just to take some of the beautiful pictures I've seen others do. No way would I infringe on others privacy by following or buzzing someone, but I think they are pretty cool if used respectfully. That being said, if one of those makes more than one pass over or around my place I will assume someone has their nose in my business,in which case the drone isn't likely to return to its owner in useable condition.
  19. Pretty much listen to mostly traditional gospel these days. Occasionally I will fall back on some Gary Moore, Bonamosa,or Satriani. Yep, I'm a guitar player.
  20. Thats what you git for horsing around at K-Mart.
  21. Linux Mint Cinnamon if you want something that closely resembles Windows. Easy peasy to use with almost no learning curve.
  22. No offense, but $70.00 for one lure? I've never heard of the lure you're referring to,but how could it be a better fish catcher than other lures you likely already have? Again, no offense nor am I passing judgement. I just can't imagine spending that kind of money for a lure. Hope you find what you're looking for regardless!!
  23. Does anyone have a link that details the cleaning, lube, and flush process they use?
  24. Man I'm diggin that retirement thing. Last I checked I have 38 weeks to go before I can claim to be a cranky old retired guy! Welcome!
  25. I'd be thanking me Lucky Charms that's all you found!
