  1. I went all afternoon again. The weather was my favorite: cloudy with just a nice ripple of wind, temps around 70. The bite was about the same as the other day except more of the fish I caught hit baits as they were moving today. Got the most fish on the watermelon seed uv speed worm, but also got a few on lucky strike worms, baby brush hogs, and yum dingers. The first fish pictured was caught right before dark against a dock. The fish grabbed it and went on up under the dock, wrapped around a piling but I kept it tight and eventually got it to the boat. All in all, a good , relaxing day - ended up with 12. I may go again tomorrow…
  2. I went deep sea fishing once in someone else’s boat in the fog. It didn’t lift until around noon. Visibilty was maybe 200 feet most of that time. I wasn’t nervous on our part but I was concerned about other boats not seeing us. Ive been somewhat lost in the woods before but not desperately lost . My dad and me got lost in the woods once for several hours trying to find a lake back in there that he was considering buying land on. No cell phones or gps back then. Just a rough map of the general area…
  3. Prayers sent for her…
  4. Ive fished st Augustine a lot more for salt than fresh water my whole life.. The St. Augustine bayfront is a great area. Ive got some good spots there but youll need a boat. Sheephead are in right now…Same thing in the North River there ( Intracoastal waterway). Surf fished in the area my whole life also. There’s also guana river dam where you can wade fish for redfish, flounder, seatrout, etc. I haven’t bass fished as much in st Augustine, but I have a big pond about 15 miles North of st Augustine that’s a good numbers pond if you’re interested in going there. Let me know what you are thinking and I can be more specific…
  5. So Sorry to hear about your dad. I went through that in 2008. I have a similar picture from the same general time frame as yours with my dad.
  6. I try real hard to fish where there are no crowds… But when I do fish a pressurred lake, most of the people I run across aren’t fishing with the same baits I do. I do believe and have seen that bass do get used to the same baits. So I try to rotate my go-to baits when I fish the same water a lot…
  7. Fished all afternoon and caught most of the fish on uv speed worms. Got 1-2 on the super fluke and 1 on the dinger.Got 8 in the first hour and a half, then only 2 more the rest of the afternoon.
  8. 33 years. First 25 was either real good or real bad. The last 8 we’ve learned how to get along. It’s wonderful now !
  9. Went to my favorite numbers pond . Cold front came through and we have windy conditions and cloudless sky .Got 7 in an hour or so. 5 on super flukes, and 2 on the speed worm.
  10. Welcome to the forums. My mom’s side of the family are from southeastern NC.
  11. Loved this customers back yard…
  12. My goals are: • To catch a PB this coming year. To do this , I’m probably going to have to fish new or rarely fished waters. My tried and true spots have dried up for fish that would achieve it. • With the above in mind, there’s a small lake about 5 miles away that I want to fish again. I’m positive a PB lurks in there. The problem is, I don’t have a good way to get my small boats over there at present. No truck, and my trailer needs work before I can use it again. • I want to fish a few new or rarely fished lakes with my buddy Jeff, down south. • I want to get more of my friends over to fish in my lake this year. I’m easy to please , as y’all can probably tell. The older I get, relationships mean more and more. . If I can combine that with fishing, I’m good…
  13. 2 of my uncles were in the war. One in the army in Europe, the other in the navy in the South Pacific. Neither one would talk about their war experiences. I wish I would have asked them more than I did.
  14. Getting some big bream. The little redbreast was beautiful. I’m glad to see them, since I don’t have a big population of them anymore. Got a bonus bullhead as the sun sank…
  15. I dont get out as much there anymore, but the Northern St Johns is very sparse on weeds. The feeder creeks still have pads. Fishing the cypress trees on high tide is a good pattern in the spring…
  16. I kind of forgot. Just caught most of those early in the year so in my mind they were in 2022. When I went back and checked, they were mostly spring of ‘23…Getting old 🤠
  17. Tried a new pond today for 45 minutes or so.Got a couple on the june bug dinger. Also Tried the magnum speed worm awhile to no avail… Crystal clear water, so the color of the fish were different than most I catch around here…
  18. Hope you’re back to normal soon @Woody B. I had all the symptoms in Jan. of 22. Included loss of taste. Took the test and it said negative. Doc put me on antibiotics and I was fine by the end of the week. Got my taste back the 4 th day. my best friend died fom it…😕
  19. I haven’t noticed as many this year either. It certainly wasn’t me. I didn’t come close this year. I was flirting with it in 2018-19, when I caught 2 that were close. Actually caught the longest fish ever in 2019, which was almost 2 inches longer than the weight-wise pb.
  20. Made some progress today, but ran out of time to finish. I decided to turn the blocks out, even though they hang over a support beam slightly. I figure when all the planks are connected, it won’t matter. That also gives me room for another plank on the end… Ive got most of the wood cut and laid out where I’m going to put it but… The block screws I got are the wrong size though- the smooth part toward the top is too wide, and it goes through the wood but stops at the block , leaving about 1/4 inch sticking up. Once I get the correct screws, the rest should be easy…
