  1. So he was diving at the time supposedly? I seem to remember that.
  2. In 1998 we had the worst fires in Florida in my life. A story I heard but never confirmed: A man was swimming in a lake and got scooped up by aerial firefighters and dumped on the fire. He died of course , in the story. There were variations of the aftermath saying things like “ his charred skeleton was found” and whatnot. I was never sure whether to laugh or cry at the story. All I can say is, if it was true, it was his time to go…
  3. I don’t keep track of it , but I drink a lot of water . I have trouble staying hydrated the older I get. Think it’s because Im heavier than I should be. Also drink 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning. Occasionally sweet tea or a gatorade, And 1 dr pepper 0 almost every day. Also eat a bowl of cereal with low fat milk every day
  4. Exactly. That and the sinister music they start playing when it’s still a thousand miles away… It looked like it was coming our way more yesterday but today the track has shifted west. They are predicting tropical storm force winds here tomorrow though . I just got done with a walk, and I could see lightning on the horizen to the south . It’s about 45 miles away , and is the first big band coming our way from the storm…
  5. I love wings but they’re just so expensive now I rarely eat out for them anymore. The Dick’s wings near me was good when I did go…
  6. Great news! Keeping you both in prayer.
  7. Im pretty decent at most kinds of fishing in the deep south, except offshore bill fishing , which I have no desire for. Im not good at trout fishing (with lures anyway), and Id be a complete rookie at ice fishing or catching walleyes muskys etc…
  8. @Catt, I also like traditional cajun music… my favorites are the Balfa brothers , Lee Benoit, and the Savoy family.
  9. I listen mostly to bluegrass , older country, Gospel music, and every now and then , a Lynyrd Skynyrd song or two…
  10. Not me! I have a hard enough time seeing to tie knots already!?
  11. If you find bream beds , bass will often be lurking around the outer edges waiting to pick off the bream !
  12. On the 3-4 hours trips I take no food- just water. Full day trips I’ll take waters, 1 sammich, usually turkey , a snicker bar, nabs, and a coke zero for the ride home…
  13. Ive never booked a guide in my life. My dad was my guide. I don’t remember him ever slightly losing his temper or patience with me. The two friends that I learned the most from were that way too. Cannot remember one bad experience with either one. I have essentially guided many people in different types of fishing , especially for bass . None of it was for money. Most of the trips were fun for them and me, even on the days when the fish didn’t bite well. I did show my aggravation once when a young man outfished me in my home lake, to the point that he mentioned it. I told him I was glad he caught his fish , but irritated with myself for missing so many of mine that day. I don’t think he believed me , but it was true. The maddest I ever got was with an acquaintance I was teaching to bass fish. He grabbed my favorite rod ( that I had caught my pb on), bent it tip to butt, while saying “ Is this an ugly stik ?” It wasn’t . The rod snapped. He took one look at me, then jumped overboard and swam to shore . Probably a good choice for him at that moment!?
  14. I always loved fishing. I remember catching my first fish when I was 4. I was always the one that never wanted to quit, and never had a problem handling any bait. My dad taught me the basics. Whenever he went, I was down for it. I remember getting in trouble and my dad went without me. Thought my heart would break lol. My 2 sons fished with me a lot. The oldest is good at it but not greatly into it. My younger son is great at it, and into it, as much or more than I am. Out of all the grandkids, Mackayla is the best at fishing. She caught her biggest fish ( a 23 inch redfish) when she was 8. She baited her hook, cast out, hooked and fought the fish , got in in the boat all by herself, then pounced on it and was trying to get the hook out of its mouth when her uncle finally helped her… Taking kids fishing is a blessing to them and you. It is a patience builder for both parties!!
  15. Wow! Have a happy anniversary !
  16. Carpenter Ants ? I think the most painful sting Ive had is yellow jackets. Of course, the hornets were no picnic either…
  17. Ive never dropped one in the water. But I had my phone in a ziplock bag while kayak fishing in my then slowly leaking kayak. I checked the phone every now and then and it was high and dry. Next time I looked water had got in the zip lock bag somehow…could not save it by putting it in some oatmeal and uncle bens rice…?
  18. Haha. We’ve got enough of our own, thank you. High nineties all week here…
  19. My best numbers day came while fishing during a 20+ west wind that had blown already for a day or two. The fish were piled up on the east ( windward ) shoreline. Caught my PB during a strong southeast wind . All I know is I never go saltwater fishing with a southwest wind. It doesn’t seem to matter as much in freshwater…
  20. Not much of a pro sports fan anymore, but I would pick Atlanta to win another world series. Much more into college sports- Ive been a Florida Gator all my life. If I had to choose between baseball or football it would be another football championship.( but not by much). Dont think this will be the year though. # 2 in baseball aint bad though…
  21. Spring Fall Winter Summer
  22. The key to carpenter ants is finding the nest. The more of them I see inside , the more of a chance they’ve started a nest inside. At least half the time it will be in a bathroom . If you spray an irritant into cracks or holes around where you are seeing them they will come pouring out and you can treat them . Perimeter treatment on the outside helps too, especially where you see a lot of them. Professional treatment may be needed if they have a nest inside. Outside, you can sometimes find the nest by overturning old wood of any kind .
  23. They still have the dollar menu dont they?
