Try not to "set the hook" on the rocks . If you feel like it got hung up, try to get it over the rock instead of trying to rip then out of the water

Some Fishing pliers have a coating which help prevent some rusting. I keep all my fishing tools (pliers, snips, scissors ect...) in a small box and throw a couple pieces of Flambeau blue tabs in there.

Try a Chatterbait. It Rips threw algae and weeds usually causing a reaction Strike.

For Spinnerbaits I like to use a Medium-Fast Action Rod instead of a Medium/Heavy-Fast Action. That way I can also throw Buzzbaits with it.?. But to each his own... Good Luck on what ever you choose!
