New PB woohoo!!
i went to a new lake today, a less pressured hawg hole from what someone told me. well they were right and i got a new PB today it was 19.5 inches and 4lbs even on the digital. my previous pb was 18" and probably like 3.5lbs so im super happy. i got him on a chart spinnerbiat. i also cought about 12 other bass today but nuttin over 2lbs. befoe i went fishing i said i need a 4lb or above to finish the year off. i put alot more time in this year and only had a 2lb 12oz and that wasnt good enough so got out and there and met my goal. i can now end the year know i got the biggest bass out of me and my group of fishing buddies lol i almost had one probably the same size or bigger but misse him on a short strike in the weeds(i need trailer hooks)

Will people ever learn ???
yeah ive beeen a victim on this, i was pised one day so to cool off i went to go sit and relax and carp fish well what do ya know i catch a 36" carp probably 25-35 pounds the biggest fish of my life and didnt have a camera. my parents refused to come take a picture for me when i called them(scoundrels). well thats my story my dad grew up fishing with bait saltwater and trout type stuff. my uncles got my dad into bass fishing and one of my dads first trips out on farington lake for bass probably 20 years ago he cought what was probably a NJ state record bass. the story i get is that they were like oh thats not a big deal just put it back and lets go. little did my dad know what he was holding. my mom was there also and she can back him up that it was enormus. the biggest bass my dad has ever seen in his life. from what i hear they just didnt wanna let my dad have the biggest bass out of all of them especially sense he was a newb so they just tryed to brush it off like it was nuttin.he wishes everyday he had gotton it stuffed and be in the record holder. hes looked at tons of pics of 6,7,8,9lbers and him and my mom both say his was way bigger. my uncle told me he thinks it was like 7lbs but ive heard diffrent.

wind question?
why is there more wind during the day than in the middle of the night. it always seems that the lake is glass at night and early then gets windy as the day goes on then does again right before dark and is calm all night.

Setting Your Drag
thats a good idea, wow i always just set my drag by pulling it till it felt right from next to the reel never from the end of the od with a scale.... ive never had a problem big fish take line and i always get good hooksets but i guess i just have the feel for my set up.

When is too much for a fish to survive.
yeah it is true even though you feel bad somethin will eat it 90% of the time. i have never killed a bass yet and i have gut hooked a good few. ive had ones that bleed all over the place and they still swim away and i never seem them floating later that day. what i do is quickly cut the line and just pull the hook through from the pointed end. the eye just slips through the throat tissue and pops out the other side. then the fish is good and you get your hook back. one of these days if i do see him floating ill probably just eat em. oh and for leaving hooks in them my dad always told me that they will rust out and fall apart within a week or 2. and seeing how quick hooks rust i kinda believe it

JON BOAT - Weight Reduction ?
thats not that heavy, a 14ft is almost a non cartopper anyway. alot of people take out seats and turn them into a bass/john boat but they lay down wood on the bottom and put pedestals in and sit, how and where would you sit if you took the seats out

anyone ever see this thing or know what it is?
i can see it as taking the challenge away, i was just curious what it was tho

Caught this oscar today
thats pretty cool, i had an expeiriance like that once with spinnerbaits. i went to kansas to visit my family and my cousin brought me to this friend of the familys farm. it had 3 ponds. the first we hit had catfish then the second had a little boat still only the size of a baseball field but we had a blast. we had large sunnys slamming 3/8oz spinnerbiats left and right probably cought about 30 of them. never had anything like this before in my life. the sunnys were a little weird tho same colorings pretty much but they had larger mouths sorta like a cross from a sunny and a bass's mouth but with the sunnys body. i cought them here in nj but never like this and never on a a spinnerbait. anyway it was really cool. the 3rd pond had bass but we couldnt realy get to it. i got 1 small one but if i knew what i knew now i would did what i had to get out there probably lunkers in it.

trying to identify 2 spinning rods...
i have 2 rods that i like alot. my uncle bought them for me for a b-day present a coupe years ago. they are 6'6" medium heavy rods. both spinning rods grey in color with black foam handles. they are really nice rods and very stiff like broomsticks. love em for hooken bass. anyway they are similar looking but have there diffrences one says AVENGER on it and the other says BUCANEER. no brand name on them or anything just that and the heavyness and the recomended line weight. my uncle said he got them at kmart in a thing they call the circuit to find these nice rods where they cover all the kmarts in the area i guess in early spring when the new rods come in. any idea anyone?

2nd annual BR.com roadtrip!!!
ok, i just found this thread and im very interested. mi new this year so i dont know whats this is all about. is this a trip for anyone on BR to join in as long as you can get there? also will everyone be gettin to rent a boat or will people just be split up with certain guys with boats. me and my buddy would probably love to make this trip, we were thinkin florida but i would love this better. would everyone be shakin in the same hotel, just need a little explanation of how it goes down. pm if you could thanks

Does color matter??
thats why if u paint it grey itll look like a cloud maybe shodowing them
-
raised deck
plenty stable!! people make john boats that are only like 55" wide have full decks and are just fine, just be consious of weight and try to make it as light as possible but dont sacrifice good quility stuff either.
-
Thanks for the tough advice
very cool man i hope one day i can afford that much but for now a used 4k bass tracker will do me fine lol
-
Does color matter??
i dunno, i guess it might not sense alot of boats are like crazy bright colors, but i would think the best would be to paing it sky blue or white/grey. or maybe a mix of both so you would blend in with the color of the sky above you.
