  1. Where can't you get Yuengling? It's one of the easiest to find beers around here. At 7-11 they have the big three: Bud, Miller, Coors, and also Yuengling. I never seen that beer before, I don't think you can get it in Chicagoland or Arizona. That's a shame. It's very good beer.
  2. great news! have fun and make the best of it
  3. It sinks quicker which is great but it is also a lot less durable. I still like them enough to buy them.
  4. Yeah, it was far too cold and the USGS water flow and height gauges spiked pretty high. I'd really like to get a trip in but it's going to be very difficult with everyone's schedule and the fact that there isn't much warm weather left. The water will be too cold to wade soon.
  5. I believe there is a fairly deep trench just upstream from Algonkian on the MD side of one of those islands just upstream of the boat ramp.
  6. If I were you I would try a 100% Fluorocarbon (it's expensive but it's good) like Trilene 100% or Seaguar Invizx in 6lb or 8lb test. Or you could try a copolymer line like Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft, again in 6-8lb test.
  7. 1. What size spinning reel are you using? 2. What type of lures are you using most often? 3. What type of cover/structure to do you fish most often? (rocks/weeds/wood/etc...)
  8. By losing one game, any Big 10 team likely lost any chance they had to play in the NC.

  10. People have been complaining about having to search out report threads in their respective sections? I thought that it always seemed easier for people from this area to just check this forum for reports on their waters than it would be to scan through all the national reports in the report section; that way it's easier to check on your waters and your buddies that way. but it's your place Glenn, so I'll go by your rules. VA guys, just put the location of the report in the thread title and it will still be easy enough to find. You'll just have to check the outings section in addition to the VA section. For example: "VA- Potomac this Sunday" so it's easy for us to find.
  11. Did you get the Trilene 100% or the Vanish? They are different. What size is your President? I'm assuming that you mean a President spinning reel. My advice would be to take it off the reel and put it on a baitcaster or throw it away. 12lb fluoro just doesn't belong on spinning reels in my opinion, especially if it isn't 100%. I recommend 6lb or 8lb tests for spinning reels.
  12. What kind of internet connection do you have? Are you using a laptop? Also, at what time of day is it taking a long time to load?

I don't know if the blinking light really works, but regardless of the light they seem to be pretty nice crankbaits.
  14. If the weather in Fredericksburg looks anything like it does up here, it looks like we made the right call.
  15. Interesting prose? I still need to catch one of those bowfin.
  16. Yeah, it's just going to be too cold. The forecast says 66 degrees and rain the whole afternoon/evening. The river has steep banks and I don't want to be in it when it is raining. It would be very easy to get swept down through Fredericksburg by a flash flood. I'm sorry dudes but it's just not going to be any fun at all with that kind of weather and potentially dangerous. NewAngler, do you ever have any weekdays off? David, we'll schedule something during the week sometime soon. Maybe Potomac Angler can join us if he's free?
  17. The forecast for tomorrow is very nasty guys. It is supposed to rain from 2pm until Sunday morning and it is supposed to be cold. 66 degree air temp is fine when you are dry but very cold when you are wet. I hate to say it but I think we need to postpone the trip. The cool weather today along with the long nature of the forecasted rain storm has me thinking that it is going to be too cold to fish. This is not an area where we want to be when it is raining heavily. It is just dangerous. How does next Saturday look for everyone?
  18. nah, it would be too much of a hassle to store and transport them. I'll just bring a cooler with ice again next time we try to catch them. Thanks for the offer though.

It's getting better now but two nights ago that probably would have helped a lot.

Wayne, I've tried that Tecnu stuff and it just didn't work for me although my friend swears by it. My brother used bleach one time and by scratching it open it got into his bloodstream and started showing up all over the place. I remember chlorine helping a lot, maybe I need to make friends with someone with a pool.
  21. The gauges still look good. In case there is rain, how does Sunday at the same time look for everybody? As long as the gauge height doesn't increase too much we can still go on Sunday if it rains on Saturday.
  22. Aaron, we are wade fishing on Saturday near Fredericksburg.

I usually get a shower right after I think I've come into contact with it and that usually prevents it from getting bad but I forgot to shower right afterwards this time because the fishing trip was early in the morning and when I came home I just took a 4 hour nap. I used to get poison ivy REALLY bad when I was little. Like blisters and puss bad. And it would get EVERYWHERE. I've taken the steroids before and they are awesome but if I recall correctly they taste terrible and I don't want to visit the doctor just for poison ivy.
  24. Accuweather is forecasting rain for Fredericksburg on Saturday afternoon. Hopefully it will be wrong like it has been for the rain that was supposed to happen this week.

That makes sense, it is supposed to cut through grease and as far as I know, the stuff in poison ivy that makes you itchy is basically an oil.
