  1. Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, and The Wonder Years. Add fishing and there's a recipe for a fun day.
  2. I was trying to find a crankbait rod at Gander Mtn. and couldn't find one. I asked the guy in the dept. and he said they don't carry rods specifically made for crankbaits. How strange because BPS has their bionic blades and other CB rods. I just thought maybe Gander Mtn. would have their line of CB rods as well. Does your local Gander Mtn. have crankbait rods? It sucks too because they don't even have an on-line store.
  3. Watched my first live baseball game Monday at the expense of the place I was doing my internship at. We have a minor league team called the Grasshoppers. Guys, it's a dangerous sport to observe, I'll tell you what. We were seated at the VIP area and it seemed like the perfect spot to get cracked in the nose. We had 6 balls come our way and land just feet behind our table. Foul balls were falling behind home plate and landing on kid's heads and stuff. And the white ball just blends in with the clouds and I couldn't see it coming. They need to make that thing hot pink or blaze orange, one of the two. Next time I go, I'm bringing me a Roman shield for protection. Now I knew drinks and food are expensive at these events but $4 for a bottled water and $7 for a domestic beer! I draw the line there. I'd rather drink sink water from the facets in the bathrooms. You know, the diamond looks a lot smaller in person than it does on TV. I thought they downsized the diamond since it was minor league but someone told me it was MLB size. It looked like a two year old could make it to 1st base in time but I guess I don't know because I don't play baseball. How about some of your experiences? Ever been hit in the head or nose with a fly ball? Cheers!
  4. Like some of you guys said, Cro-Cop seems to underestimate some of his opponents, especially if they don't neccessarily have the best record (Randleman) or are unknown to the American fight fans, like Gonzaga. I was shocked. What do you guys think is next for him? I don't know. I would like to see him fight AA though.
  5. How is it that some of you guys can tell the difference between the two. What are some things to look for to distinguish the two? Thanks.
  6. The cardinal is a great reel. I have two: one for panfish and I use a larger one for catfish. For the price, they are hard to beat.
  7. The only thing I can think of is a Shakespeare Ugly Stick.
  8. When I use Flouro., I use Seaguar. Gamma has good flouro. too. Both are pretty high in price, to me at least. A good compromise is to use a copolymer. Tell us how the Cabela's brand is. Cheers.
  9. I wish we had muskies in the south. Well, I hear TN has them and a few lakes towards the mountains of NC. But, I'm sure they aren't as numerous as they are up north.
  10. I have never caught anything with them but have seen guys catch bass with them. I was watching Babe Winkerman's show and he and the guys were catching pikes with them. Who knows? Personally, I wouldn't buy them though.
  11. There is a jig made for swimming. It has a little rattle box beneath the hook.
  12. Can someone explain to me if there is a difference in how you operate a saltwater BC reel as opposed to a freshwater BC reel? Nothing useful on search engines on operating instructions. I was watching some guys tuna fish and on the reels, on the side that has the handle, there is a switch/clip of some sort that slides up and down. What is that? I think I saw a drag star so it couldn't be the drag unless saltwater reels have some sort of special drag. What causes these saltwater reels to be so darn noisy? Every turn of the handle makes a clicking noise. Also, do you cast with it? I've only seen the guys hook up with bait and then drop it in the water and then take off on the boat? Thanks guys.
  13. Hum...I must be the odd one here because I fish flukes on jig heads. I fish in running water a lot so the jig head gives it a little more weight. I just sink mine to the bottom and twitch a few times. I'm gonna have to try it weightless. My most productive colors have been white or some shade of green. I have even caught small stripers with white flukes.
  14. I do. I use braid for my heavy catfish gear and I use it for platics and jigs. I always use mono or flouro. leader though. I have noticed effortless hook sets and greater sensitivity.
  15. Is BPS' flouro. worth getting? I've been fishing with much more expensive flouro. and was just wondering if BPS flouro. was any good. Trying to save some money here and there. Thanks.
  16. I was just wondering about the swim jig. Do you just cast and retrieve like a swimbait or do you fish it like a regular jig? Do you guys still use a trailer on your swim jigs? Thanks.
  17. I've been told dark colors in murky water because the fish have an easier time seeing a shadow/silhouette. Also, in murky water try something that makes a lot of noise such as a lipless crank or something that has a scent additive, such as Gulp. Hope this helps. Cheers and welcome aboard!
  18. Does anyone else hate this? Everytime I rod shopping, I always come back home with a stiff neck. I don't understand why stores just don't leave them where I can pick out the rod without having to look up. I don't know. Maybe they do that so people like me won't end up spending the entire afternoon there just looking.
  19. Welcome to NC. Around where I live, there is no good fishing. Nothing like TN. I guess you could consider Lake Norman okay. Frogtog, I'll have to give some of those spots you mentioned a try. I go to school in Greensboro and a couple hours of driving for fishing is fine with me.
  20. Oh yeah...I thought I was alone in this category. Nice to know some of you guys are just as crazy. If I'm not dreaming about it, I'm usually thinking about it and that can cause insomnia.
  21. The bait monkey has been breathing down my back to get the Pinnacle Inertia. It's within my price range and I have heard a lot of good things about Pinnacle so far. I guess it's time to get one and try it out.
  22. Guys, On 4/7 I'll be going on my first smallie trip. I'll be fishing either a small stream, creek or lake...I guess because my buddies and I will be fishing off a conoe. So, the waters can't be that vast. Here is what I am thinking so far. Correct me if I'm wrong and please offer some suggestions. -6'6" M and ML rods, fast action -6 lb. test -Rapala slashbaits, pointers, 4 inch. senkos, jigs and tubes Anything else? Will smallies take just about the same lures a largemouth will? Thanks
  23. How long do you guys go with braid before you change it? I came upon this idea to save money. I'll just buy braid and keep it on the spoll for a year or so and I'll just use mono leader. That way, I'm not wasting mono because I usually change out mono every few months or when it gets near the half-way mark of the spoll. Anyone else done this or thought about it? Yeah, I know, I shouldn't be cheap with line. Cheers.
  24. Are trailer hooks really needed on spinner baits or is it just another thing to have? For those of you that use them, have you noticed your hook-up % go up? Also, I don't see how you can get a good hook set if a fish takes the trailer hook. I mean, it is free floating up and down the main hook. Thanks.
  25. Can't help you with a talking one, buddy. But I've seen the singing ones at the local Bass Pro. ;D They go on sale during Christmas.
