An Open Letter to BassMaster Magazine
I would imagine that if you do some digging you will find that it is illegal for them to do this since it is state maintained then they can only restrict parking to "state" residents and not just town residents. Otherwise they will have to take over all the maintenance and stocking.

The Dinkmaster® Strikes Back!
New I should have went up there like I had planned, but I let my wife keep me from going :-[. Gonna be studyin these pics hard for any identifying features so I can pick this one out at the tourny saturday.
-
Hey guys, just so you know.....
It stands to reason that you get quite a few skunks or slow days, the type of fish he catches and posts on here don't come along in schools (unless your Randall fishing in Georgia ;D). 10 hours, we have a tourny this saturday that is 11 hours (8:00 pm - 7:00 am)

Five fish for 25.5 lbs win at Varner
Randall your makin Burley nervous showing all these great fish from Varner. He'll be wanting to book another trip down there, probably won't ask me to go along after the last time.

Is this Official?
I didn't offer anything.... :-? He was wondering what the better offer from Bassin' was so he could maybe get in on it.
-
Is this Official?
Agreed, don't waste your time or money with NAFC. I was in it for a while about 8 years ago and it was nothing but a hassle with wanting money for something all the time. Also agree that the NRA is just as bad anymore get 4-5 letters every month wanting money they will $25 you into the poorhouse.

crank bait strikes????????
I agree, but I believe he is asking to try and figure out wether to fish crank that will run below the suspending fish or above them, to improve the odds of catching one or all of them. Especially for tourny situations where the less casts it takes to get one the more you can go after.

The #$%*%^ bit me!
I am still laughing today when I think about Burley yelling "Owww the da#% thing bit me!!!" Thought we had gotten to a tournament when we pulled into the lake and saw all the boats and trailers at 6:00 in the morning. Had a regular floatilla of trout fishermen out there must have been 15 boats all achored within 50 yards of one another and just 20 yards off the best shoreline on the lake and the shoreline itself with even more trouters on it. >

The bass strikes back
Geez, there is are very simple and effective ways to get hooks out even past the barb with a piece of line or string. Here's a link: http://www.aafp.org/afp/20010601/2231.html

Great day gone BAAADDDD!!!
Are you sure you weren't wearing your tournament shirt with all your sponsors on it since you got to the pond and realized you didn't have anything else and these were mad about a PRO coming in and takin all their fish. ;D

The so called "Bad Cast"
I figured this out when I first started fishing a baitcaster. As I got better and stopped backlashing I would just pull out a bunch of line to let the bait set without being tempted to fish to fast.

Many thanks to the Headless Bassman!
Makes me wish I had found this place a long time ago. We used to go to Daytona every July for the race and I allways wanted to try and do some Florida bassin' but never got to. I know I would have if I had been on here, we haven't gone the past 2 years but am considering going back next year.

Bad Day with new tackle (funny but sad).
Sounds like old line to me as well, I use 6-10 pound vanish flourocarbon with a palomar knot regularly and never have any breakage or knot failure. As far as using the topwaters when you first cast it let it set on the water and don't move it till all the water circles from it landing have gone then twitch it once and let it set for about 15-30 seconds again before you start working it. Works for me.

New Lake & PB (pics of course)
I am thinking the same, looks to be a solid 4.5, just no length to get much more out of it. Congrats anyway on it, I'll take a 4 lb'er anyday.
-
Thanks Randall!
Make that 2, I am gonna go and check out the other local lake that is just as tough as this one.

Me and Varner (photos added)
The story on the big one is a pretty good one for me. I never really did see the bed or the fish at all, but I was smart enought to see where Randall and Burley were casting to and just threw in the same place with the same jig and technique. Randall and I believe Burley as well had the fish take their jig a couple of times but missed the hookset and Randall even had it snap his line once missreading the size of it since it was so deep. I cast to the spot once saw it roll on my jig and didn't set the hook soon enough, the next cast I set as soon as I felt the slightest tick and the fight was on. So I guess you can say I stole this one. ;D This seemed to be the theme for the day I would let Randall and Burley fish a bed and get them good and mad and miss a few hook sets then I would throw in and get it in a few casts, all except for the one that we anchored down and machine gun cast to about 500 times we all missed quite a few hooksets on it and I was the one to finally get it. While letting Burley go after the beds after I pulled in the 8 I would just look around and throw a trick worm at some promising looking place and pulled in 3 that way, I would just see them break water and throw at'em these were all small the biggest came in at 1 lb even and I got it just threw out the worm and line go as we were zooming by a place and started realing in and all of a sudden had one hit and got it in, Randall takes the credit for the hookset since he had the boat wide open and it hooked it, we called this power trolling. All in all had a good weekend and highly recommend anyone that can book Randall for a trip, you will learn alot.

STATE RECORD!!!!!!
Another one got, 4 days later. :-[ ;D I agree with releasing the fish as well, since it apparently has very good genes and will be laying eggs and passing those gens on to future generations of hawgs.

Baitfish kill in warm water?
The ones that we saw were large 6" shad and 3" shiners. The only good bite I got was on a jerkbait and the others that did catch fish were all on flukes.
