  1. Got a PM from Korea_Bassin this morning and I reckon it is on it's way to me here in VA. Been hittin the ponds most evenins the past week and plan on going more this week and weekend. Hopefully I can get it bit and get the pics and send it on quickly.
  2. The weather should be right go find some Strike King Rocket Shad spinners, get the smaller 1/4 oz. ones. With time being a concern this will put alot of fish in the sack in a short amount of time. I have never been to a pond (and I fish alot of ponds around here) that these didn't produce. They only make 2 colors white and chartreuse either will work but I get the best results with the chartreuse. The only place I have found them is at WalMart, check the whole fishing section for some reason they don't allways put them with the other spinnerbaits.
  3. Like I said in another thread Burley, we are blessed that we are fairly close to some decent small lakes and have an abundance of ponds that are just made for the jon or canoe. Speaking of ponds I found a couple more yesterday.
  4. So I guess I need to make sure the boat is redy to go whenever it even has the slightest possibility of rain. Just wish I hadn't left my bibs in the truck and only grabbed the jacket from my rainsuit.
  5. I know exactly how you feel. We have 4 cats and 2 dogs my wife and I get so attached to these animals it is ridiculous. We lost one of my alltime favorite pets back just before Christmas. Duke was only 2.5 years old he was half the size of the rest of the litter, the vet said he had been conceived after the others and was born premature. His kidneys were not fully developed we took him to Va. Tech veterinary school once on an emergency because his normal vet was so worried he wouldn't make it and that was the only place that had the equipment to maybe help him, it worked. He was actually on a form of dialyses for a while we had to put an IV in his back and put about 100ml of fluid in him every night. I got so attached to him, he had such a hard way to go from the moment he was born you couldn't help but feel for him. When he was born my wife and her sisters slept in shifts for 3 days to stay up with him and make sure he lived. He took up with me for some reason, soon as I would sit down he was in my lap and wouldn't move, then when we went to bed he had his spot cuddled up right next to me.
  6. Just remember I can put a hitch on anything. The best one was a few years ago I put a hitch on a Corvette, yes I said I put a TRAILER HITCH on a Corvette.
  7. Yep Burley, I guess we are blessed to have an bundance of small lakes around us that we won't be spending a fortune on gas to get to them and using no gas in the boat. Makes that 14' jon i got a couple months back that much nicer. Also that place I went and checked out yesterday evenin, 5 big ponds all right in one area and fish in all of'em.
  8. Add me to the ones that likes the rain. Let me clarify, just a steady rain with no wind, you add a steady good wind to the mix and I will stay in the house and fish on the Wii.
  9. That was the night I nearly broke my ankle wadn't it.
  10. Exactly. Now the pic he put up would be me.
  11. Why didn't you just say "Hey dikhead pony up the bones or swim back to the ramp"
  12. I thought we were in your big boat over at FP. Either way you get the credit for it since it was in your watercraft. It was night and I thought I had snagged a leaf and was trying to fling it off and I went to just grab it and.......
  13. I personally don't know but Burley can answer this for ya since he has the same problem. I can tell you this in Burley's case it is because his partner is just that much better. 8-) ;D ;D
  14. At least he got to take a pic, she who must be obeyed and I drove by the lake and I threw some from shore and only had 2 bites. Thought I was actually gonna get one of them in and my jig came flying back at me about 5' from shore, Burley had made it over to us by that time and just laughed at me. Pretty bad when you get laughed at by the Dinkmaster! :-[ The biggest problem with Burley is he was throwing a Huddleston that was nearly as big as the one he caught. He tried to rip my rod out of my hands with it too when he cast it over and tried to hit me with it. And since we are gonna start hiding our spots:
  15. had a huge debate over a fish in one of our club tourny's last year over this. The fish ended up being disqualified as a short LM but had all the characteristics of a spot, spot on tongue, seperated fins, lateral line markings but they went by the jaw being even with the eye and determined it was a LM. And they do crossbreed, the lake where this one was caugh are promoting taking all spots and have a 12" size limit on them.
  16. Also you may want to consider when in Pigeon Forge you are only about a 3 hour drive from big fish guide extrordinaire Randall.
  17. Not likely to be over there anytime soon, unless I win the lotery which would be a miracle since I never play. But I will make it over there someday and this question has been bugging me.
  18. but does anyone know if there is any Bass fishing in Scottland and if so how is it?
  19. You forget, he spends most of his time in the summer here in Wise County with his grandpa on BigC. "CAR", how you gonna pull that new Nitro with a Honda?
  20. I say Pigeon forge, there is a little bit of everything there. For the women you have all kinds of outlet shopping and specialty stores, also a Bass Pro Shop and coming sometime a Cabella's. Also have a ton of stuff to do together such as Dollywood, go-karts, putt-putt. Then you also have Gatlinburg the next town over with more shopping and other fun things to do together, the Aquarium of the Smokies is a must. Having been to both Nashville and Pigeon Forge many times there is no question that PF is the place for a vacation, there is so much more to do. Now to the important stuff. You have Douglas Lake very close maybe a 20 minute drive. Good numbers lake, not a big fish lake but it does have a few toads. Cherokee Lake about a 45 minute drive has better potetial for bigger fish but not as many numbers. Ft. Loudon Lake another 45 minute drive, don't know much about this one but our club had a tourny on it last year in October and the best I recall around 20+ won it and everyone caught fish. If your not gonna drag the boat then you have the rivers and creeks around and in town that are great for smallmouth and trout. You have many hotel/motel/log cabin rentals right on the river or just out of town. For the 4 of you I recommend a cabin rental, plenty of room, private hot tub, full kitchens (save money on dining out) and better for a good nights sleep away from all the bustle and noise. Here are a couple of links to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg: http://www.mypigeonforge.com/ http://www.gatlinburg.com/
  21. I figured out where you got all your wisdom and advice last night when I finished reading last months BassMaster and the Mark Davis article. Guess that'll teach me to read through them faster.
  22. Watching the snow flying around today, I have decided to make someone an unbelievable deal on some nice fishing equipment and a good boat.
  23. Fidshed our club tourny on Cherokee Saturday. The forecast was for rain and overcast all day which I was actually looking forward to since it was supposed to be in the upper 50's to lower 60's and I knew the fishing should be good. Turned out slightly overcast early and windy, early winds 5-15 mph and inceasing throughout the day by 2:30 it was steady 25-40 mph, the overcast skys didn't last about an hour and it was bright skys all day. Water stained and 58 degrees in the lower end of the lake where we launched. We started a short run from the launch on a rock bank that my partner usually fishes and had been put on by another guy the week before during our kids tourny. I was throwing spinner baits and he was throwing cranks neither of us were getting anything and were talking about how we hated to resort to plastics so early, which we didn't do. Made a long run uplake to another few spots that we both had marked to fish, got up there and found muddy water with a temp of 62. We tried the same lures and still nothing, finally he grabbed his carolina rig and within 30 minutes had one on, I didn't even have time to grab the net before it threw the hook. I kept trying other lures while he stayed with the c-rig. We found some shore line with green grass running into the water and he got another one on the c-rig landed this one and came in at 2.6 so of course I tied up the c-rig and that is what we stayed with the rest of the day and would run and look for the same type of shoreline. We ended up with only the one keeper and 4 fish total, although I did miss a good one set the hook and only got a couple turns on the handle when it shook free. > All in all it wasn't to bad considering we finished 4th in the club out of 12 boats and only 6 weighed in any fish. Made me feel better that the top guys that always have fish zeroed and we at least did figure out how to get a few, if only we had started out with the c-rig I believe we could have done alot better. Also it was a regional event so there were about 20 other boats besides just our club and most of them zeroed as well, I think only 12 of the regional boats weighed in. Oh yeah the last couple hours with the wind my partner said that is the roughest he has ever seen the water on this particular lake. One more thing, they had raised the lake level 10 feet in a week.
  24. I would say the fish caculator is fairly accurate, looks to me to be around 7. This one weighed 8.00 on Burley's scales which he said was right and I am holding this one close to my body as well and to my eyes it is just as long but a little fatter. Caught this one while fishing with Randall so he would be better to give you a comparison estimate. Oh yeah nice fish yo got there, send me about 5 of those for my tourny tommorow.
  25. That's cool, I was just mistaken on the facts of the latest Daimler deal. I may be mistaken but i have never been wrong.......only mistaken.
