  1. I ordered a Revo STX and received it last week. I had a chance to try it out Sat. and I was very impressed. It is the best casting reel I have ever thrown on. All I can compare to are Daiwa Advantages but it is simply amazing. I am going to be ordering a few more before this spring
  2. I have two Techna-AV casting rods: Favorite rods. I've had two Fenwick spinning rods. A 6 ft ML Eagle GT. Probably my all time favorite rod. I also had a 7ft MH HMX spinning rod and I won my first tournament on that rod. Enough backbone to pull fish over grass mats while fishing flukes. I broke both spinning rods because of stupidity. Great rods.
  3. Bandits, Normans, Rapalas, and Bomber Fat Free baits are pretty much all of the crankbaits I use. A lot of nice color, true-running, nice action baits under 7$ each!
  4. You will need to take your own boats to the tournaments unless a) your school is sponsored by a boat company or you're going to be fishing as a co-angler. As for the National Tournaments, boats are not provided. I believe the Fox Sports National Tournament, the boats used for the 5 times fishing the last day get to fish out of new Rangers but otherwise you are on your own.
  5. I don't meet the criteria for a established poster but I do have close to 10 baits I could send you and even a few spinnerbaits I could send if you wanted to try them. Most are new and still have paint...let me know if you're interested.
  6. Once you get done with experimenting with some I'd love to get my hand on some. I love to fish flukes.
  7. Those are some good choices Kozak. If you're serious about trying to go pro then those two programs will be good at building your experience and the college competitions will give you a small feel of the big show. Good luck on your acceptance man
  8. Haha...I don't know of one person who has taken the SAT around here...go figure
  9. Yea it's really not that hard Tin. Tyler and I could help you with anything you need. Just find somebody who could fish the tournaments with you and go from there.
  10. Not that I'm aware of and I'm not sure any clubs could do so now or in the near future. In order for scholarship dollars they would first have to receive money from the school's Athletic Department, some schools already do receive money. Second they would have to compete for scholarship dollars with football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, tennis, etc.. It is highly unlikely to see that to happen anytime soon I believe.
  11. Tin- it's an awesome deal man. When I competed in the College Bass national tournament it was like living the dream man. At the tournament meeting we got to see behind the scene and actually go in front of a camera on the bassmaster studio stage. We had a paid hotel, paid food, everything. For sure, the best time of my life so far.
  12. The CBAA made promises to update their rankings after each invitational tournament held by schools. After each one of those invitationals they would post details and results of those invitationals but would not update their ranking system, which by its self was ridiculous and by no means fair. Also, the Big 10 schools had been getting together each year and hosting their own Big 10 championship. The CBAA thought they could fix something that didn't need fixing and ticked off a lot of anglers. As for this season, the development of the ACA is going to be the best thing ever if they follow up on their word. The actions they have already taken and the sponsors they have rounded up show me that they are serious and are not going to lag behind. They are going to include all invitational tournaments into their rankings. They are going to be unbiased and show both the FCS and the College Bass national tournaments equal coverage. I see no problems in what they have said, done, or have planned.
  13. Last I heard you could back a boat back in but it's still low
  14. I would love for you to mate the old Strike King 3x Zulu and the Zoom Fluke. I love the look and feel and action of the Zoom Fluke but I wish it would float like those old Zulus. A blood line poor or even lateral line pour might be interesting as well
  15. PUREfishing is offering registered collegiate anglers 40% off all products when you buy direct. We have a $2,500 limit for the year. Gonna try this one out before I pull the trigger on some more
  16. Ben- I hope we can get together and compete some. NC State does have a great, well established club. Zel- I had heard all that information but it was still a great read and learned more from it then what I did. Thanks for that post. It's getting big and I'm really looking forward to this season.
  17. Got a new Revo STX from factory shipped to my door for under $130
  18. Thanks Catt! That's real good information and I appreciate it.
  19. Haha...shot put! I have a lot of respect for those guys from VT. They're tough competitors.
  20. I hate the lake personally but you can catch some real nice fish there. Strike King hosts a tournament there each fall. If you're going for bass fishing try the washout or Kirby's pocket. Be ready to get yourself off a million stumps. It's ridiculous and the only reason I hate the lake. Black and Blue jigs are a staple, as well as jigging spinnerbaits. The lake is shallow. A great majority of the lake is under 10 ft. Fish the standing timber and the supports of the duck blinds and you should fair well. As for the end of May it all depends on the water temp. Weeds and pads should be good then...
  21. Very very nice looking baits. What's the action on the M puppy? Please be more specific than fish catching
  22. So I was looking to pick up a new map for an out of state lake where I'll be fishing next month and I found this odd thing. On BPS, you can buy a Hot Spots map for $9.99 but they can't guarantee shipping because it is shipped direct from the company. Now heres the funny part, if you visit Hot Spot's website, your cost for the same map shipped from the same place at BPS....$11.45.
  23. There's a real nice hump and if you can find it you can catch nice fish all day...
  24. Both of those have a list of the schools registered for them. There are many schools that have fishing clubs but are not registered for either of the national tournaments. It's not hard to start your own club if you can't find a school nearby with one. Just find one person who really likes to fish and compete and he can be your partner and then 8 other people to fill up the slots to become a club. They wouldn't have to do anything other than sign their name.
  25. Hey guys...I'm looking for some information on Beaver Lake. I've got a tournament at the end of Feb. out of Hickory Creek Marina. Looked it up on topozone.com but couldn't really find where I was. As far as locations what areas would be of good interest? My initial game plan is shakey heads, drop shots, 3.5 tubes and jerkbaits. Looking for anything you guys can give. Thanks, Braden
