One other point,, if you are first on the lake... you are first to the sweet spots that day....maybe that monster is wanting what you are serving for breakfast?

What Vic said.... I would give anything for my dad to still be alive to go fishing with, no matter if he kept the fish or not. Just enjoy the time you have with him, trust me these times are not replaceable.

I always try to be on the water before the roosters start crowing. I love that topwater bite first thing in the morning. Having a fish or two in the boat before the sun comes up. Oh, and I take my coffee with me.

That band is pretty good,, just might make something of themselves some day. : :

Look at Bass Pro or Cabelas, and buy the best spinning rod you can afford. You will be disappointed if you get an ugly stick. No sensitivity whatsoever My Walmart has Bionix spinning rods, (graphite) for about 40 bucks.. Good starter rod. I have one,, use it mainly for the company to use or if the wife wants to go bream fishing.

Do not mean to sound flippant, but that part about you heaving was funny as Heck..... The whole scenario reminds me of a time when I was a kid. We had a cookout, my dad believed in charcoal grills,,, no gas for him. He had grilled chicken and steaks, and then left the lid up to cool the grill, and to speed the briquets burning down. One of the many barn cats we had, could not resist the smell of chicken and steak. Jumped up on the grill, and the lid fell down, trapping the cat, on the hot grill..... Lucky for her, we heard the commotion and she only had overdown feet :o
