  3. I go back to the home range every year and hunt elk, blacktail deer, blackbear and cougar. I have to many firearms to mention, however, my elk gun is a Sako .338 mag. Deer guns are .308, 7mm-08 or a .257 (Roberts) Ackley Improved. Those all will also handle the afore mentioned, blackbear and cougar...... oh, and I have my trusty Ruger Redhawk .44 mag on my hip, Always, for those up close and personal get to togethers with some of those beasts. (and it has been needed from time to time)
  4. I go straight for the Split shot rig, with an 1/8 oz. splitshot.... fish on!
  5. Gene, Go Fishing,, you need the break... lmao ;D ;D ;D ;D :o :o
  6. My only comment is this. Why would anyone in God's Great Earth, want to play video games when you can be out fishing or hunting and playing in the most beautiful places on earth????? Just my 0.02 worth.
  7. Well said Avid, well said. Could not agree more. Wish someone had told me exactly that about 20 yrs ago.
  8. I am with Fluke on this one. I grew up fishing salmon and sturgeon etc... in the Pacific Northwest,,, the only knot I every was taught to use was the Improved Clinch knot. Quick tying and it NEVER comes undone for me. I use it to a clip for my crankbaits. I use it directly to the hook or lure for everything else.
  9. To your list of safety equipment, add a whistle or one of those hand held air horns. It may save a very long paddle if you can get someones attention if you break down at the wrong end of the lake.
  10. From the look of the pictures you wont have to wait 30 yrs..... maybe 5 or 10 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D And Fluke told me he makes at least double the other mods.... not trying to start anything,,, : : just repeating what he said,,, ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  11. I have tried to call Frank 8-10 times since our fishing trip together to Varner..... I get his voice mail every time. I will continue to call him every day till I make sure he is ok, and to find out what is going on.
  12. CAn you post the pics from start to finish???? Awesome job by the way..
  13. My vote goes to the Metal Mouths (Steelhead) that run into the rivers sometime about the end of Dec. first of January in the Pacific Northwest....... those bad boys will break you off and break your heart in a matter of moments.
  14. Have a guy from BassResource.com at your house at O dark thirty. Launch boat on Varner for a day of hanging the big ones with a new fishing friend. Fish hard all day, miss some strikes.... never get a fish in the boat in 5 hrs. of hard fishing. Met another high quality person from BassResource.com and hope to fish many more times with him, successfully this time. Frank, great day on the water with you... can not wait to get down to your neck of the woods and you can show me around..... I just hope you are a better guide than I am ;D ;D ;D
  15. I go back out west, and hunt Elk every fall with my brother, nephew and best friend. We have gotten at least one elk every year for the last 4. No monster trophies,, but it put lots of steaks, summer sausage, and pepperoni sticks in the freezer....
  16. and this highly controversial judge gives you a 10 as well,,,,,,,, maybe the Chinese or Russians will dispute it or protest or something... ;D ;D ;D
  17. I know I needed this reminder since Sears isn't always my first choice. Amazing when you think of how long the war has lasted and they haven't withdrawn from their commitment. Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears this year? How does Sears treat its employees who are called up for military duty? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up. Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution. Â I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves. Pass it on. Decided to check this before I sent it forward. So I sent the following e-mail to the Sears Customer Service Department: I received this e-mail and I would like to know if it is true. If it is, the Internet may have just become one very good source of advertisement for your company. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item, even if it's cheaper at that store. This is their answer to my e-mail: Dear Customer: Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback. Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time. Bill Thorn Sears Customer Care >>webcenter@sears. com 1-800-349-4358 Please pass this on to all your friends. Sears needs to be recognized for this outstanding contribution and we need to show them as Americans, we do appreciate what they are doing for our military!!! It's Verified ! 18. For home I have a Remington 870 with a 20 in. barrel loaded with goose loads(dont want the intruder suing me for giving him lead poisoning) ;D. For my carry gun, I carry the Colt Combat Commander, in .45, best carry gun I ever used. Loaded to the gills with Federal Hydra Shocks. It is accurate, compact, and shoots right where I point it. Oh, and tritium night sights on it as well for low light situations.
  19. WOW! enough said :o :o :o :o
  20. Stay with the 12's. I have 8s on my trailer, and hate them.(I worry constantly, if I travel over 20 miles, at more than 55 mph. And you are only gaining 2 in. not 4. The other two inches in diameter are on the the other side of the tire/rim. So, it is only a 2 in. difference in height.
  21. You do not anchor where you think the fish are at... you back off twenty thirty yards or so ,, then drop anchor and cast past the spot holding fish and retreive thru it.
  22. Man, I read the title to your post and you almost gave me a heart attack,, you can not do that to an old man,, ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D However, I must say, good one, you got me.
