UMMMMMMMMMMMMM Fluke????? thats all I have to say on that idea.....

OK, now i am completely jealous of you guys with your fishing partners..... My best friend and I were that way back in the Pacific Northwest, when it came to salmon fishing, we were like mind readers. As soon as one hooked up, the anchor rope was tossed by the other(if we were anchored) and the boat started, and the fight was on... all that would ever be said was boat left, or boat right, if it was needed. We could be talking about work or whatever, and then out of nowhere, both of us would say, ummmmmm need to change color, or think we should go a bit deeper? As for netting fish. I still can not believe that people who fish from boats still do not know how to net a fish. When I took people out salmon fishing, I gave them the 5 min. speech and demo on netting fish. Told them if they stabbed at a fish and knocked it off my hook, they would have to go swimming after it ;D ;D.

First off, WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Second of all, bad news, just because they say meet military specs, for water and dust RESISTANCE, dont mean they are waterproof. I am in the Cellular Business, and the only way to waterproof your cellphone is to put it in a ziplock baggy and keep it in there at all times... Nextel has the new i580 out, meets military specs for dropping, dust, and water....... the boss dropped his in a wet sink and it no longer works.... : ;D ;D ;D

LBH, Thank you for saying what you have. Yes, trying to kill a snake is infinately more dangerouse than avoiding them...... IF, I have to kill a snake it is done with a shotgun or such from a distance of at least 15 ft away. Then it is use a shovel to pick it up and bury it, and deep... Most people are bitten by snakes due to them messing with them in the first place, or not paying attention when they are hiking, in snake country... Now on the other hand, I do have relatives in the Church of Snakes(what i call it),,, :-/ :-/ :-/ and they play with the darned things during services,,,, . Lost a second cousin to a cotton mouth, he was in the swimming hole by his house, and got bit and never made it out of the water. Now, can we drop all this and go fishing?????????????????? I hate talking about snakes almost as much as I hate dealing with them in person,,,,,,,,,, there was a reason I lived in the western half of Washington state (until love drug me away) NO POISONOUS SNAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I am one of those people who needs to grow some, in LBH's words. I however, do have a healthy fear of snakes. I only kill poisonous ones, copperheads, watermoccasins, rattlesnakes, etc..... and only if I can not walk away from them or if the snake is in my yard. My neighbor killed a copperhead that was 3 ft. long and big around as my wrist. That snake was under his porch, and the gentleman, has 6 little grand babies running around constantly, playing... If I am in a boat, I move away from snakes I see in the water, on land it is a little more difficult, since you are usually right on top of them before you know they are there.... I am not pro killing anything to just kill it.... I was raised better than that.. I do however, understand fear of snakes, or heights, or whatever, and reacting the way people do. Yea, maybe I do need to grow some, but at 42 yrs. of age, I do not think my fear of snakes is going to go away.... I would rather face a Grizzly Bear in the wild than a snake anywhere.....

Wow, I thought Maxima was out of business. I love that line for heavy work..... I have not seen it anywhere here in Georgia since I moved here. I grew up using Maxima for everything from trout to sturgeon... salt water or fresh water.. I learned to cast my first baitcaster with 20lb. Maxima. with a 3/4 oz. weight attached... casting at a 1 gal. bucket in the back yard. sorry, I am off topic, it just brought back a lot of good memories.. I do not use braid for the reasons stated before me, I guess I am a mono line person and always will be, it is not like I am money fishing anyway... I fish for fun, and part of the fun is playing the fish, not just hogging one in as soon as you get the hook set... I imagine that braid has its place in the fishing world, but not for this fisherman... to expensive, and to much hassle.... just mho.

My best friend and I were salmon fishing in the Columbia River, anchored in a hog line,,, we decided to move to another spot. He was running the boat up the anchor line to pull the anchor loose with the boat, and wrapped the anchor rope around the props on both of his motors...... was he ever embarrassed. I have never let him forget it either. ;D. Especially since he would not let me help, he was going to do it all by himself, no matter what..... so I always ask him, if he needs any help getting the anchor up.... ;D ;D ;D ;D

I am no expert on bass, (yet, still learning obviously), however, when I lived in the Pacific Northwest and river fished for Steelhead, I built my own inline spinners. The black chrome blades, were killer on them metal mouths.... They could not leave them alone it seemed like...... I was to the point of having a plating shop custom plate different style blades for me, so I could have enough to play with..... because I could not find the black chrome after awhile,,, the supply just dried up....

Heck, turtle soup is gooooooooooooooooodddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!! and the 12 gauge that goes with me is for snakes, If I hook a turtle I just cut the line as close to its mouth as I can..... I kill every snake I see..... man I hate snakes

Mine was a Boss 302 Mustang, in Grabber Green.... paid 1500.00 for it... Man, would that car fly.. I was clocked at 135 mph in it as I was flying across Arizona on a road trip....... :o :o Man, I miss that car.............

A 7'6" heavy rod probably will not be enough.... maybe find an 8 ft. salmon trolling rod, with roller guides, and 120 lb. test braid, and a Daiwa 250H reel. Otherwise you may never bring it in even with a small fish on it. There is gonna be a lot of drag there. One thing is for sure, you will build up your arm strength casting and retrieving that thing...

Country and Classic Rock

I have a 14 ft. jon boat, and run 3 50 lb. thrust Minn Kota Enduras. 2 in the back, and 1 on the front. They are 12V motors. I run each one on a seperate battery, and I can go for 6-8 hrs. on Varner, as long as I am not running back and forth from one end of the lake to the other more than twice. I also run my fish/depth finder off the battery that is hooked to the front motor. I have not noticed it running that battery down faster. I am however, a cautious person, and always leave one battery with enough juice in it to make sure I do not need a tow back to the ramp. I just do not use one motor as much, as the day wears on. This set up works for me, for now anyway.

I have gotten the same type email from "Walmart.com" saying that my big screen tv was shipping,, it had a zip file attached to it. Well the zip file was a virus (no i did not open it, but I know someone who did, wiped out thier computer).

I have been nicknamed Bear for about 25 - 30 yrs. I have always been a large guy. (6'4" AND 320 LBS. NOW..) My coworkers call me a Grizzly Bear, since I growl at them once in awhile ;D. Since I am a fisherman Fishbear just sounded natural.. as for my avatar, it just seemed to fit my personality,, especially the little red guy, : :. The John Wayne quotes, well, John Wayne was my hero growing up (am I showing my age???) oops! :'( He always had something profound to say in his movies, and in interviews,,,, my dad used to tell me I was born about a hundred years to late, I would have made the perfect Mountain Man or Cowboy. Just living off the land, and being free.

First thing came to my mind is the State Fish and Wildlife sites for all the states that have a big bass fishing population.... those would all be .gov sites for your paper.

That why I padlock my trailer even at home, the tms all have locks on them, and I have a 15 ft. logging chain, I wrapp around a tree and around the trailer, up thru the handles for the boat, and padlocked again. The funny thing is, here at home, I have never had a problem with anyone messing with anything. It is always when I am somewhere else.... like at the lake, and I am out on the boat fishing... My dad used to say, liars and thieves are one thing I can not stand,, and they all should be shot on sight. I think he was on to something..... I feel for ya man, it just is so wrong.

I hold a stick of dynamite up high, so they are sure to see it.... then proclaim any fish that does not cooperate and bite my lure, will be swimming in the big pond in the sky,,, cause I am gonna blow them clear to heaven ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
