Hell, I dont know. How much are the biggest fish of my life worth? All I'm able to pay and then some. I guess the highest I've paid for a bait would probably be a Hinkle Trout at retail. Never caught a fish on that one unfortunately.

Savage and Ragetail will cover anything you need in that range of bait.

While I won't be there, I think it's an admirable gesture to name the Toledo Bend event after Fishfordollars. Is it just me or is it really hard to believe that was over 4 years ago already? He was a solid dude on the forums.

Not that I consider him as such but the phrase "It's better to be a has been than a never was" comes to mind. I know I wouldn't want to put money down against him.

Anyone got eyes on the Potomac above Dam 4 today? I fished Sunday and the water was down but really muddy still. Just want to see if the rain on Monday did much to the clarity or flow?

This one has all the qualities I like in a pic, big fish in an awesome environment. This one is my PB pic, got a good shot on my own that day somehow. I still think this may be the best big fish pic I've ever seen though...

Perfect example of similar length baits that have greatly different other dimensions. That's a lot of plastic for a smallmouth to ball up in it's fish hole.

It's hard to tell from the pic but 2.5-3lb largemouth have bigger IMO.

On the 68, there should be an eye to stick a treble on. While the length of a 5.8 Keitech is similar to the 68 Hudd, there is a big, big difference in bait mass. Even a 7lb smallmouth doesn't have THAT large of a mouth comparatively speaking (I've only ever seen up to about 5.5lb but can't imagine the head dimensions being too different).

Smallmouth like to slash at baits. BB rigging (I'd not go to the trouble for largemouth on a 68, but would for smallies) or fishing jig hook top / treble bottom is going to give you better results.

I agree with Dwight 100% It's not that they can't or won't choke a bait, you just have a better percentage with the jig hook and, IMO, a treble on the belly. Obviously, this is dependent on how you are fishing and what cover/structure you are fishing as well.
