  1. Might I add...what ever you get, lock that puppy up! Thieves love stealing kayaks.
  2. Shelbyville is the furthest north that I've fished. And I've never caught a Muskie or walleye in my life. Those Muskie look like something out of the Amazon!
  3. Yeah, your right and we can't handle the high taxes and drive by shootings either! Btw, my father died in my "real boat" thanks for asking.... Not really! Just poking fun! Oh I forgot you crusty Yankees don't have a sense of humor! ??? Oh, I forgot! They don't even sell ice augers down here!?
  4. I've been fishing from 4am to about 9am. Sucks getting up that early, but it's better than burning.
  5. Can you use mend it on all plastics? i.e. Manufacturers, strike king, zman, etc...?
  6. Great info guys, thanks. I'll be stocking up over the holiday then back to catching the big boys on the new durable flukes.
  7. And you "can't" do that from a kayak? Try a Jackson Big Rig... I haven't fished from a canoe since I was ten; but with that being said, I've found that a big advantage of the motorized kayak is that I can troll and steer "hands free" leaving me better able to focus on fishing.
  8. You see, I hate it when that happens...any time someone says Illinois, automatically all youse chit own people take over. You and your muskies and walleyes and small mouth! We have good largemouth down here in the better part of the state.
  9. Wow 50-100! I've been lucky to get 2-3. I really like the way they look too. And not a bad price.
  10. I think I'll start doing that every time.
  11. Skip gap worm hooks. Yes, they are tearing at the nose. I'll look into the "mend it" and the Z-mans. It just seems to be such a waste to throw one away because of a small tear in the nose. Plus at almost .50 a piece you should get a little more use out of them.
  12. Does anyone make flukes that can withstand more than three strikes? I can go through a whole bag in one morning. I swear they make em to tear so you'll have to by more. At the rate I'm going I'll need to buy them by the pound.
  13. Try Salonpas patches. It may give you some relief.
  14. My beaver story. Many years ago a friend and I snuck onto this lake way out in the woods. This place was some kinda spooky. It was some kinda sun worshipping cult place back in the 1940s. They had little huts built around the lake with what looks like sacrifice alters here and there. The place was long since abandoned and overgrown with weeds. It was a moonless night and we were so scared we could hardly fish. That's when BAM! right next to the boat! I've never paddled so fast in my life! That beaver scared us right off the lake, never to return...
  15. http://fishhidesportswear.com/about I tried one of these shirts and thus far I've been happy with it. I'll be buying another. https://www.austinkayak.com/products/16609/Hodgman-Neoprene-Wading-Shoes.html These keep my feet dry. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/salt-life-mens-cachalot-hat#repChildCatid=678614 I like these hats. And I wear the cargo shorts that have Velcro pockets so things don't fall out.
  16. Soon they will all have golf grips.
  17. Just bought my second Lews rod. I am hooked on the golf grip handles. Have you tried them yet? I'm telling you all handles should be that nice.
  18. I own the JK Big Rig. I'm totally comfortable in it. But I'm only 6' 200lb. I like the nuance and the atak also. I think it's best if you take advice from a big guy like yourself.
  19. Hope you don't mind if I butt in but I also have a question about boat docks. I see guys pitching jigs under docks from the boat; can you pitch jigs under the docks from the dock. Let me explain. Say the dock is twenty slips long. Can I pitch from one slip to the next without having a boat? The ol guys are always crappie fishing on the docks, would there be bass there?
  20. Hey from Marion, IL. LOE, Crab, Rend, Grassy
  21. Not meaning to get off topic but; why is it that you can put a motor on a bicycle and it doesn't need to be registered, but put a motor on a kayak and it does...
  22. I know the purest will guff but a trolling motor is the way to go. The way I see it, I'm not a kayaker, I'm just a fisherman that uses a kayak. I went with the Bassyak and love it, but the price can be an obstacle. A basic diy can be accomplished for not more than the cost of the motor.
  23. All is lost....time to move to Montana!
