  2. Theres really no technique involved action on the jitterbug is automatic, vary your retrives from fast to slow and find out ehat they want -WM
  3. Well done! ;D
  4. Where are you pulling theeese monsters from? LOL I didnt know fish could get that big in NJ
  5. I wouldnt buy them, you give the bait enough action with your rop tip and retrieve. I saw them in Bassmaster not too ong ago, just my opinion i wouldnt buy them. I doubt they will improve catch rates.
  6. I thread mine always!
  7. How stained is the water?
  8. First off! Welcome to the Boards! Your questions are somehwhat broad, but can be answered. You will find anyhting and everything you need to know about bass fishing on the site! I suggest reading some of the sticky's they have a lot of good info. Carolina rigs can be fished with an type of soft plastic bait depeneding on the conditions/situation. Spinnerbaits around 70% of the time work best with a steady retrieve, enough to turn the blades and get some vibration going. Cranks are all dofferent depending on their depth and how cool the water temperature is, will let you decipher how fast to actually 'crank". As for right now, there is never a better time to start experimenting with some new baits youve never used. Best thing for you to do is read while online and try the stuff you learn and apply it on the water. Hope this helped some -WM
  9. Red starts to become invisible around 30 feet and beyond. THe coolor colors though, are noted to be seen at several hundred feet, their light waves that is
  10. I would say definately under. This makes me believe why bass under 10 are hard to catch!
  11. me and my father used to troll 7" berkley power worms over grass beds in a certain lake....we caught 25 bass and pickrel one day doing this, it probably had somthing to do with the motor was ripping the grass and the coinditions..for we tried it next time on the lake and did not catch a single fish, i discovered this by messing around while leaving my worm in the water while dad jumped to a diffrent spot! It was a foot away from the boat and a pickrel nailed it 8-)
  12. Wecome to the Forums! Nice fish also!
  13. How do you guys get tofish this Lake? I heard its private? Around how many acres?
  14. Nice hog. Looks like it weighs a lot more. Photopgrpah much?
  15. That is a cool story, you guys are halarious with the feedback .lmao
  16. I have been reading a very lot lately, about Bass, their environment, and how they see things from a different prespective than we do. One of the sources I have been reading is "Knowing Bass. The Scientific Approach to Catching More Fish" by Keith A Jones, PhD In the book it talks about literally everything having to do with bass vision. As well as evey other sense. Here is a brief paragraph from the book. "An angler might sit back and ask: Why all theese colors?. Some beauties may be too irresistable to pass up, but does our fishing gear really need to represent the entire visual spectrum? Wouldnt we seem to do just as well with a small handful of colors? Or maybe even pare it down to just one? Who are we really buying our colors for anyway? Ourselves or the bass? Do bass even care about lure colors?" "The answer is yes and no. Bass apparently do see colors. Their color vision is strongest in the areas of medium-red to green. It fails rapidly moving into the blues and purples, as it does towards the far reds. Theese color extremes are seen as lighter or darker shades of gray to black. Very pale colors of any shade are likely seen as simply light colored, whereas dark reds, greens, blues, and purples are interpreted as simply dark" Notice how they stressed that the blues and purples are a weak point in bass vision. The dark reds, greens ,blues and purples, therefore are barely interpretated and register as "dark" almost being black. From the new Jersey Angler magazine: "Keep it Cool" November 2006 "Research at the university of Kentucky, suggests that bass are more "favorable" toward colors at the cool-end of the color spectrum. The coolest hues being blue and violet as well as various shades of green. Conversely the fish conducted in these labratory experiments to yellow and bright red, as well as other "warm colors" That is all good information BUT, if a bass's vision falls of on depecting details in color in the cool-side of the color spectrum than why did they show a more tendency to like theese colors?
  17. Congrats on the setup, I purchases my St.croix not long ago, it truly is a good investment.
  18. 1. Cheaper than normal popper or weedless frog 2. Texas rig is weedless and is suposed to get better hooksets than frog hooks. 3. All lures have a different action, some get strikes when somthing else simular doesnt. Thats all the reasons i can think up.... I beleive it would catch fish, and if it would catch fish then why not give it a try? I agree with matt on this one, it definately dosent hurt to give it a try, sometimes the slightest change in presentation can work when bass are finicy.
  19. The X-Raps have been producing tremendously for me this year. I think Rapala really took their time and did good with this one. The action is incredible, i reccomend everyone try this bait if jerkbaiting is being used
  20. 1/2 ounce Rat-L-Trap anyblack/silver manns 1- rayfish pattern
  21. Not everyone can afford this thing. I dont believe anyhting should ever be banned from the tournament trail, its just a bad upset they allowed it in the first place. To me this is such a shame. My point is the succesful angler should not be determined by his budget and how many good electronics he has. To me it seems like electronics are taking a lot of fun out of finding your bass, not the bass coming to you. I mean think about it, how much skill can you possibly have if electronics are taking skill out of the picture.
