  1. Possibly h2o express with upgraded hooks
  2. I'm sure it's just another topwater, honestly. There are probably equally effective alternatives, your life probably won't improve if you buy one. Doesn't mean I won't buy one though
  3. That's good to know. In my local shop back home they have "their own brand of tungsten" and it damages line.
  4. I personally don't recommend off-brand tungsten since I've seen it weaken line after awhile, even 65lb seaguar flippin braid
  5. I personally would get brown since it's a rat, but that's my opinion. Honestly it doesn't matter much, get whichever one you like the most

    Where do you get these?
  8. Where? I've caught hybrids but no stripers. From what I understand they quit stocking them years ago
  9. pretty sure you meant Striper... I wish I was around when Toledo still had stripers.
  10. That's fascinating
  11. As of right now, my plan is to attend during the day with my dad and stay at our place a bit south of fin & feather. However, I think I talked at least 2 (probably 4) of my friends into attending as well. They would all share one room at fin & feather. None have a boat. So I guess ideally they'd pair up and tag along with someone if there are people who don't mind fishing 3 from their boat. Idk how yall would work that out.
  12. I caught it once. It was caught by others the other two times. We only know this because of the Toledo Bend Lake Association Lunker Program, who keeps records by tagging fish and recording data when they're weighed in. The incentive to weigh one in is a free replica, that way more DDs are weighed and released and more data is collected
  13. The fish is tagged. I'm estimating it was over 5 miles between spots.
  14. Yep. Side note: when it was released the first time it was on the Texas side of the lake, just a few miles north of where I caught it. Then I released it on the Louisiana side, quite a distance across the lake. It was caught this time in the same area on the Texas side, which means this fish manages to find it's way back to the same area of the lake every time, no matter where it's released. Kinda cool
  15. Toledo Bend. There are probably thousands of DDs in there, maybe that bass is on it's last leg but not necessarily
  16. The fish I caught back in May has now been caught AGAIN! It was first caught in April on a Ratl Trap, I caught her in May on a Hudd, and recently she was caught AGAIN on an Ol Monster... Unbelievable! Isn't that the craziest thing you ever heard?? Who knows how many times that fish has been caught and not registered with the Lunker Program... Just goes to show that not all giants are as smart as we think, and catch and release WORKS. edit: for those of you familiar with Toledo: this fish was caught in Six Mile, released in Housen, caught by me in Six Mile, released in Pirate's Cove (LA side of the lake, miles away), then caught in Six Mile again this time... That fish knows how to find it's way home!
  17. I first found this tip while learning how to fly fish. I DO NOT understand why conventional fishermen don't know this trick! It is seriously so. much. faster. edit: obviously most of you don't use forceps. Just use your needlenose that you use to unhook fish and clip your line with.
  18. I absolutely smoked the fish in a pond yesterday on a ned rig. They were all small, but I caught over 20. At first I was using a 6'6" ML with 6lb line, but I found out that the tip was damaged and it was fraying my line, so I switched to my 5'6" UL with 4lb line because it's what I had and the fish were small (1lb at the largest) so who cares. When I got bit I did a classic hookset. Reeled the slack down and jacked em. I lost very few fish. None of this sweep or reel into them stuff. However, it could be because I was using such light gear, I don't know.
  19. Most companies do, even revered ones saves bucks
  20. I just don't know why you'd want that reel in a 7 gear ratio
  21. Seems to me like most people don't want to go much over 7 foot, I can't imagine your average joe buying a rod over 8 feet long (regarding the rod companies). Sure some pros will probably come up with some reason you'd want a rod that long (maybe KVD will put out a 8.5' deep crankin rod ) but I don't see it taking over the market by any means. Maybe they'll make 10' doodlesockin bass rods to get to that inside edge of grass too edit: also, in response to "10' would get damaged," these are pros we're talking about (we have always been able to use whatever rod we want as we are not B.A.S.S. pros), rod damage is not an issue
  22. A lot of people on here do it, and i've thought about it, but I end up not keeping logs. Why? Because honestly, I'm not going to look at my last year's log and think "hm, fishing was no good this time of year last year, guess I won't go fishing!" I'm gonna go fish anyways That's my reasoning. I know there's a lot more to it than just that, I'm just sharing my experience.
  23. Yeah just get one dark and one light color, you don't need 4 or 6 or 20 colors!
  24. Where are you reading those reviews? Between cabelas and bps it gets above a 4-star average
