d**n sully you catch hogs out of "that lake"... Haven't been out there in the boat all season. My mistake!

GLX vs IMX
I get the same deal through my highschool and own a GLX 852S JWR. Awesome rod, definitely worth the money. I've also fished with other models in both the GLX and IMX Pro lineup and if you're buying a rod to fish bottom contact baits, the GLX is definitely worth it. Plus, speaking for myself, us kids probably won't get the opportunity for a while after highschool to buy that kind of gear. And, they have a lifetime warranty.

Minnesota Fishing Reports - 2018
Was out on Bald Eagle on Friday. First time out there but was able to put a nice little pattern together. Fish were buried in the foil in 8-12 FOW. Water clarity was about 2 feet give or take. Flipping with a slither rig seemed to produce the best but we also caught a few dragging t-rigs and ripping jig worms. Awesome little lake, excited to get back out there.

St. Croix legend Extreme, elite, and X series rods
Anyone fished the 7'1 mh xf legend blank? Looking at it for fishing jigs and t rigs.

If someone handed you a shimano stratic 4000..
if you fish northerns or plan on doing any fishing for salmon or any other big freshwater fish I'd use it for that. 4000 is just a bit large for bass fishing in my opinion.

Minnesota Fishing Reports - 2018
Has anyone fished Lake Marion in Lakeville? I have a highschool tournament there in a few weeks and plan on getting out there sometime this week. Was wondering if anyone had any tips. Judging from Navionics I'm guessing its a stained milfoil lake but could be wrong.

Minnesota Fishing Reports - 2018
with temps rising some 10 degrees in some lakes in the last few days the fish are kind of in a weird stage from what I've seen. Normally the water doesn't heat up nearly this fast and they begin to start moving up at around 60 in my experience. The warm rush has definitely caused some fish to spawn although I wouldn't be surprised if we still had fish moving up throughout the next month. On the topic of warm water, anyone else catching topwater fish yet? I had about a 20 fish night yesterday on a popper. Pretty cool for the week after opener. Water was around 69-72.

Avid X with leader?
I have the 7'4 and with heavy braid and fluoro, a leader going through the guides is not a good idea.
-
Literally ....pulling my hair!!!
Some spools of fluro are just a bad batch. I once bought a spool of Sniper that would constantly break off. Decided not to give up on the line and bought another spool. Haven't had issues with it since.

Another Hi-Vis braid thread.
I use ghost 832 because I don't like yellow, more of a confidence thing, but a lot of guys like the red powerpro.

Champion XP/IMX Question
I have a 703c myself and while it is an incredibly light/balanced rod, it's not as sensitive as some of my other rods in its price range (St. Croix LTB, Orochi XX). I've only fished an IMX once but would definitely say the IMX would be the more sensitive of the two.

I'll second that. I usually fish the Root River in SE MN this time of the year just haven't been able to make it down yet. Trout fishing is awesome down there, even if the bite is tough because of the awesome scenery.

Tatula 7'7" medium
good deal but I've heard some suspect things about that site?

Tatula 7'7" medium
Thank you! That is pretty much exactly what I plan on using the rod for. Might have to look into the zillion if I can find a deal..

Personal favorite reel brand
THIS! People like to assume throughout the fishing industry there is a "best brand" for everything. The truth is that every company has its strengths and weaknesses. Some models might be 'better' than others and each company has something in their lineup worth trying. The only real way to find out what suits your needs is to go out and experiment. For me, Daiwa and Shimano are the go to's, however, Lews has some decent offerings despite the hate they usually receive on here. The original Tournament Lite for example is an awesome reel for the price and competes with my more expensive daiwas and shimanos in terms of casting. Hope this helps.

Tatula 7'7" medium
Yep I was talking about the original rods. I've heard lots of good things about the series. Is regular more of moderate-fast taper? I'm guessing the 7'7" is just a longer verison of that blank...

Tatula 7'7" medium
Has anyone fished the 7'7" medium Tatula rod (not the glass version)? I was looking at it to throw paddletails and small cranks and was wondering if anyone had any input. Thanks, Jack

Minnesota Fishing Reports - 2018
Although it isn't something I'm proud of, a few years ago when I was still in junior-high, me and a few of my buddies would fish a few city lakes before the season started (April/early May) and really lay the hammer on them. We would catch tons of fish in the 4-5 range with a couple pushing 6 and 7 in lakes where we'd struggle to break 4 in the summer months and we weren't catching them off beds. Looking back, I think this is part of the reason the season is so late (protecting fish preparing to spawn), not just bedding fish since lots of fish are still on beds by the time the season starts, especially in years like this year where ice out will be late.

Magnum Underspins?
I have been looking for an underspin that can handle larger paddletails like Swing Impact Fat 5.8s and 6.8s. Anyone know of any out there?
- K resale value low super low ? Possibly?

New St. Croix Legend Tournament Rods
BUMP! Anyone used the new LTBs recently?
-
Rod and Reel Setups
Even though I'm not a Lews guy I can vouch for the Tournament Lite. Smooth, casts a mile and surprisingly durable for a non-aluminum framed reel. I use mine for spooks/buzzbaits with 30 lb. 832 and couldn't be happier. Only thing I don't like about it is the handle is only 85 mm. so you might want to replace it with a longer one.

Zodias, Avid X or Zillion
Let me know how the service on that site is. Seems like it has a good amount of exceptional deals, almost too good to be true...

Zodias, Avid X or Zillion
Yeah, Shimano rods have very limited warranties on them, even the higher end ones like the Exprides. Not sure why they do this.
