  1. This is the knot I use for fluro as well and have yet to have any issues.
  2. Very surprised at this topic and the post in it. I consider myself at the bottom end of knowledge compared to those above me so I can't argue anything. I personally use all 3 lines. Fluro being something I just made the switch too. Before it was mono for cranks and top water and braid for everything else. I was convinced to try fluro since an older very experienced guy I know uses it, it is now what I use for jigs/Texas rigs when not in heavy vegetation. I can see its issues with line management and have switched knots also by his reccomendation and have not had any failures. I do not claim that fluro has no stretch but coming from fishing jigs with braid I don't notice a huge difference in sensitivity. While with big game mono I definitely notice a difference in feeling the bottom and strikes. Maybe this is my lack of experience but as much as I'd love to spool all my reels with big game and be done with the cost and the line conditioner and backing. I cannot change the way it feels in my hands and to me that's what's most important
  3. I increase hookups by setting the hook hard. . . very hard I do sometimes trim my skirts and if you look at a ragecraw there are sections on the body. Tear off one at a time until it's the length you want. There is no rule on length here only personnel preference or more like bass preference.
  4. Gotcha. Always hard to tell sarcasm over text
  5. Not sure in what way you mean. Y2k was a hoax. This is just a rare natural occurrence when the sun and moon align. Now there are a whole lot of crazy stories going around mainly claiming it is a sign of the end of the world or the return of Christ. Without going into it too far since that's not what this forum is about.
  6. Hard to believe you guys haven't heard about it. Its not on the other side of the planet. Its a solar eclipse that will be going on from 12 to 3pm today (central time) its all everyone is talking about right now around here.
  7. When I was younger all I needed were ribbon tail worms and a broke back rapala. I don't remember doing any jobs specifically for fishing gear.
  8. Find a proven knot and learn to tie it well. All time on the water is a chance to learn something, whether you catch em or not. Spending money does not equal catching success. Always tell someone where your going and wear lifejacket/kill switch 2 must haves on a boat- water and toilet paper
  9. I have yet to catch doubles. I have watched a bass steal a jig out of another bass's mouth though which was pretty cool.
  10. ive taken vacations where I just fished everyday for about a week. after that week I didn't fish again until the next weekend
  11. Even though I've caught some decent fish on bladed jigs , they are not a go to for me either.
  12. sometimes I like to yell at the fish when they aren't biting what they're suppose to for the particular conditions. you can try that but I cant say its ever helped lol. sometimes they just don't cooperate pretty morning in that pic though, I would have thrown topwater too
  13. good topic! never thought I would need 8 combos on deck but I wouldn't give em up now onboard battery charger.- come home plug it in and charge all the batteries at once lakemaster map card- I spend more time looking at the GPS than any other screen.
  14. As you can tell by my profile pic the answer is yes. My dog always goes camping with us and this is when she spends most of the time on the boat. I do not carry her bass fishing normally though. Not that I don't want her with me but its about the same as taking a child who doesn't fish. Not a lot for her to do in the boat. Its hot and you will have to make trips to the bank every now and then for bathroom/play time. Good luck with the new pup
  15. Congrats man, me and my wife are also having our first in a few months. Don't hold back any advice for me cuz I'm clueless
  16. not my saying but I always like to tell myself I didn't get beat, I just ran out of time.
  17. Yep Mike is a great dude with great jigs. Can't beat that
  18. Yep that's him. And you are absolutely right about that I was just thinking of some of the older or "seasoned" anglers we have on here that seem to specialize in particular subjects. Lot of great folks on here
  19. You forgot All black cavitron buzzbaits and if tcbass keeps it up the teckel sprinkler frog thing, Buck Perry's spoonplugging. You left A-jay, team9, way2slow, jfranco, and the guy(who's name I can't remember but he posted the bass documentary), fishnkamp, and long typing roadwarrior out of guys to listen too. Oh and fishmas! Can't forget that
  20. Braid is not like mono. But like any line no matter what it is can be damaged. I fish braid around plenty of wood and never had any break offs. Only break off I've ever had was due to a missing guide insert that frayed the braid. Since you winched the fish over the tree like a pulley system lol I would definitely inspect it.
  21. Dang tom no wonder your catching giants if they're bitin 12' long worms I honestly don't have anything to add from what was posted above so why not make a joke instead.
  22. Thanks @J Francho His question makes more sense to me now. I wasn't aware of finesse wide gaps
  23. I have no idea what wide gap hooks you have but they are very different. EWG hooks were made for Texas rigging soft plastics that have a thick body allowing the hook extend past the plastic upon hook set. Circle hooks (I believe) were originally made for live bait. The hook point is directed inward which drastically decreases gut hooking fish. They catch the corner of the mouth on the hook set.
  24. All I can think about reading your post is that we must live in totally different places cuz right now its 90 degrees in the shade here in Alabama Too your question, fall for me is all about shad. Spooks, crankbaits and really anything white.
  25. love it when I set the hook and the fish sets it back!
