  1. I agree with gundog. It did feel rushed, it was a good episode but I felt a lot was missed. BTW yall think kriet would jump in for a 12 incher? Lol
  2. give us some more info, fast or slow moving water? largemouth or smallmouth or both?
  3. I think last Saturday it came on around 2pm central time for me on CBS. I had to make my DVR record it. It should be the same for the next 4 weeks
  4. Exclusively as a weightless soft jerk bait but I have pretty much tossed them to the side since using a caffeine shad
  5. wife bought me a veritas 2.0 micro guide for Christmas and last week one of the inserts fell out of the guide. I still have the insert, waiting for a reply on warranty now so we will see.
  6. throw a whipper plipper next time
  7. No not exactly. The picture turtle posted is a good reference. When I see fish on say my unit with the transducer mounted to the transom I assume they are right behind the boat, they may be slightly left or right but to start I just assume they are right behind boat. I will start there and slowly broaden my cast left or right of there. This is only when I marked fish themselves bit more often than not I am fishing stricture and have not seen fish on the graph. In this case I do as I said above fishing the whole area around my marker buoy. I've caught plenty of fish fishing structure that I never saw fish on the screen
  8. Every new structure spot must be learned. In short I drop a marker buoy and 360° fish the area and watch my depth finder the whole time so I see the highs and lows. Another tool that's been great is lake master contour elite. I can't use this on the water with my current electronics but at home I can use the 3d function on a laptop and see the bottom in a way that I could never have pictured in my mind just looking at a 2d screen.
  9. Yep that's life and on another flip side I know it wasn't at all the memories you were planning to make that day, but I have several memories of blown family/friend trips that were pretty bad but years later when I think back it was just another thing we went through together lol.
  10. Try a subsurface lure. Or possibly a popper that can be worked in place
  11. Looks like a good un. Their in the lake just hard to find!
  12. You catch that bass in your pic on eufaula?
  13. Haven't but been planning on it. That's about the only time its not raining it seems. Good luck and give an update on how ya do
  14. Plenty around me too but never been able to hook one. They grab the bait but mouths are to hard I suppose. Pretty cool
  15. Yes the shock series was geared toward super lines that have no stretch so they have a slower action than the original lightning series
  16. I respectfully disagree with the above post. I use the above rod for cranking. I prefer a stouter rod with a fast or extra fast action for frog fishing. I'm currently using a H20 ethos rod from academy as my frog/Carolina rig rod but any MH/H with a fast or extra fast action should work well.
  17. Circle hooks will definitely help if not totally remedy the issue but I find I miss hook ups with them. To me wacky rigging a weightless worm and gut hooking is just something that's going to happen. I use octopus hooks with no barb and line watch but they just swallow this rig without hesitation. No one likes killing fish and for good reason but I don't know why no one likes eating fish. If I don't think they will survive then they get ate.
  18. The more I watch Andy Montgomery the more I like him. And in case anyone wanted to know the way I fish just watch him. Glad Jacob and Andy got through today, wonder which zone the champ round will be in? On another note has anyone had fish blowing up 3 feet in front of them like Keith poche and still not be able to catch one lol
  19. I'm guessing the cranks bigger than the 14.5 are too heavy for the rod? I picked up the 14.5 and 20.5 last week to try out. I decided to get the chameleon color and they look much better in person. Hope I can put on a show for somebody when I get to try em The way you explain them staying down in the zone to me will be the biggest factor. I never feel I get the distance needed with deep diving cranks to keep them on bottom for more than a few feet. This might be a game changer
  20. Sounds like a good day man, thanks for the update @scaleface
  21. It was pretty bad. That was a strange place for that rod to break
  22. Yep that's it. Thanks man
  23. I've never had this issue. I run 20lb braid on my spinning setups. Are you using a backing? I don't doubt what your saying but it sounds more like its digging in which is common with braid
  24. Never owned a vengeance but have picked them up a few times myself at Walmart. Never seemed much better than the cherrywoods to me at half the cost. I have and really like my veritas 2.0. Abu has been running sales on them lately so you might keep an eye out and get a deal. I wouldn't return the shock rod as it makes a good crankin stick/treble hook top water IMO. Will work for frogs I just think you might not like how they feel on the hook set.
