  1. I live in Ma and we dont get the true giant bass but ever since I switched to swimbaits, my average size went up. But you will get skunked more often then not. You need to get your mind into the game. I love fishing swimbaits!! I dont strictly fish swimbaits only, I'll toss other gear but I always have a swimbait stick with me. For someone like yourself, I would look into spro swimbaits. The BBZ 1, the spro rat. Also savage gear makes good swimbaits as well. I fish the expensive hand made swimbaits.
  2. I'll be open water fishin here in MA all winter, unless we get a deep cold. Last year it was COOLLDDD in mid late December, very frigid. By late January early February I was open water fishing. Some years open water all year, some years its frozen till March. Some year frozen for 2 weeks then open back up for the rest of winter. I live on the coast so the temperatures fluctuate a lot. But 1 hour north or west its locked solid, 20min south its open water
  3. the one i got off TW has a top hook! I cant wait to use it
  4. man I wish I could, when I get that better job, a career I will be traveling a lot. That sounds awesome! I want to meet Shelby the swampman
  5. I just got an ROF 0 hudd, im kind of really tempted to toss it in cold shallow ponds. dead stick it. It barely sits under the surface, the nose and tail are under water. you could put a nail weight and make it an ROF 1, 2 or 3
  6. oh boy!! that sounds awesome! bunch of drunk women and craw fish! WOOOOO
  7. wow thats so awesome! Wish it was 2 hour drive. I'd love to fish it more
  8. Here in MA we have 2 craws at least, one was found in a muddy river, the ones I see a lot are in clear clean lakes and ponds I've never had crawfish, but LOVE LOVE LOVE North Atlantic lobster
  9. thanks bud! broke 5lbs twice that day. 5.5 and 6.9. fished 10 hours without a bite, I was praying for one fish. It went from zero to 60 in seconds haha
  10. wow thats crazy!!! looks like I'll keep the jigs out for winter bass.
  11. yes! saw that and thats why I posted this! HMMMM thats brilliant and would make sense.
  12. Wish I lived closer. The last time I was there I got a 6.9 smallie on a topwater, that was in 2016
  13. oh ya, no doubt First time I went there, I lost one over 5lbs, my buddy first 10 min of the day caught one over 5. The 2nd time I went there, smallie fishin was tough, but I caught a 7lbs lake trout. The 3rd time I went there. It was a tough long day. Grind for bass, didnt get one until last 2 hours of the day. The last 2 hours resulted in 6.9, 5.5, 4.2, 3.5 and a 2.5 lbs smallie.
  14. My TW order should be here today!! WOOOOOOO. got some swimbaits, Triple Trout, Matts tournament series, Smash tech, mendit and some other Japanese weedless swimbait.
  15. fish my confidence baits! plain and simple, I know they catch fish
  16. Do crawdads hibernate? What water temps do they stop becoming active? or Do the migrate deep? Water temps up here in MA are 43-46 degrees
  17. My family doesn't fish and ******* about how much gear I already have. So I get my self what I need/want. Im on the market for a trailer hitch, trailer and a john boat plus the gear I already mentioned in a previous post
  18. my gear wish list is: Dobyns champion 807, matts hammer shad, Matts meathead, Matts strong shad, and more Real Prey swimbaits. I can tell you what I'm not getting for Christmas: Dobyns Champion 807, matts hammer shad, Matts meathead, Matts strong shad and more Real Prey swimbaits
  19. i had a good whack on a 3/4 bico baccarac jig and a samatis craw early in the day, first 10 min. I caught my only bass on a 1/4 black hair jig. Had a few perch hits deep. all my bass and hits were 10-15 feet of water.
  20. I'll be fishing small deep ponds in MA this weekend. Water temps at or near 40, hell they are ice fishing an hours drive. Blade baits, hair jigs on the menu. Find the deep structure, deep flats, drops offs and deep humps. These are new ponds to me, but i'm confident ill get them, especially if they have smallies. Smallies are the easiest to get in the cold, THEY STACK UP BIGGGG TIME!!!!!!! When you get one smallie you'll get a few more. Some guys that fish the bigger lakes around me with their big boats, SLLLLLAAAYYY. They find a pile of smallies. 20lbs bags. The trick is to find them. Some times they are hard to see on the finder cuz they are glued to the bottom. I only fish in a yak so big lakes are out of the question. I stick to smaller ponds.
