  1. open water over the weekend, went out sunday, lost a big native brookie at a stream and caught 2 pickerel on my yak.
  2. tried to get out last weekend but the ponds were locked up! drove around looking for spot! sat in my yak at the spot i really wanted to fish, broke ice but it was to thick to really break it, to thin to walk on it! went native brookie fishin. caught one, lost a few others! hooked into the biggest ive seen from this stream
  3. caught 4 bass and few yellow perch yesterday. fished the afternoon. 2 ponds. first pond was a smallie spot. few yellas and lost one smallie. the bite wasnt good so i dragged my yak to a new spot. this being the 3rd time fishing it. wish i fished here all day. 4 largemouths all on jigs. biggest being 1.14lbs lost a giant. pitched the jig to a tree. felt the fish hit i set the hook and the line snapped. the rod came back and hit me in the face. i was in shock and awe. i havent felt a fish like this in a while. all 3 times ive fished this spot i've either hooked into some big bass or had a few hit! IM ON A MISSION THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!!!! saturday! i fished a new spot. caught 2 bass and a pickerel. biggest being 1.12
  4. break 8lbs largemouth. that may not sound hard. but im from new england. they are here but not easy. break 7lbs for a smallie. i caught a 6.9lbs this year and 7 is going to be alot harder then the 8lbs largemouth
  5. i went out both days this weekend, saturday fished a new pond. slow action at first but i found where the fish were. lost a big fish on a jig. 1 dink on a jig with a few hits. sun went down and i started tossing swimbaits. picked off a few more dinks on big baits. had a big blow up on one. 5 dinks total. sad to say but that was the best day ive had since september. sunday went to a good cold water pond. caught a chunky 2.5 plus. it swam out the hole in my net before i could weigh it. also caught some big perch. i hate this time of year, i can never catching anything big or the fishing is super slow!
  6. i found the shallow ponds are alot colder then the deeper ponds. noticeably colder. 2 weekends ago i found water on a small shallow pond staying put a 50. while the big deep clear pond was any where from 53-56
  7. bite sucked this weekend! caught 2 fish saturday. 1 pickerel on a swimbait during the day, then at about 9pm that night i caught my next fish1. 2.5lbs largemouth on a rat. not even a hit sunday
  8. yea the rof 12 will sink head first due to the weight. the 68s are badass! fish em like a jig or crawl em along bottom right now. they should work good in the weeds but the 5 is better for that. pitching the 5 to pads and slow rolling i think will be killer. i want the 8 inch weedless in ROF so i can fish it in the thick stuff up top!! yes im using wake baits! big swimbaits! been testing a bait for a buddy so ive been getting fish on it! my buddy from maine has been smoking them at night with wake baits! he caught a 7.9 halloween night on a shellcracker slow waked
  9. thats exactly why i love it so much! i learn something new everyday! so many different factors and variables that play a roll. to consistently catch good fish takes skill and many hours of fishing to hone those skills. im not the best fishermen but im not bad either. still so much to figure out and when im 85 on my death bed i still wouldnt have figured it all out!
  10. im still getting some bass at night on topwater!
  11. got a chunky 3.10 lbser last night at about 11:30 on a swimbait
  12. thats ballsy man! wow! way to sketchy for me. i had good winter open water fishing in my yak last year!
  13. went out and did some night fishing last night! had some good action. few hits lost a good fish and caught a chunky 2-3lbser. all on swimbaits up top!
  14. yes 4 inches of ice in my minimum thats for a small amount of people. at first ice i tie a rope around my waist and tie that off to a tree. then i walk out with my spud,( heavy ice chisel). i also have spikes around my neck. ive fallen through the ice TWICE!!
  15. i normally fish shallow ponds usually small. one pond i fish frquently i catch bass up along the shoreline trees but there is a good dropoff along this side. another pond i normall fish bass can be anywhere from 4 feet deep along the shore to the middle in 8 feet. another pond we fished the middle in about 6-10 feet of water and smoked em so experiment, try along shore and out towards the middle! youll get em
  16. heres my trick! shallow pond. 10 feet deep or so. fish near cover. the love trees and stumps. shiner on tip ups but ive also caught them jiggin before i catch a lot of bass through the ice!
  17. went out bass fishin saturday. caught a handful of 1-2lbser on 8lbs line and jerkbaits. felt good, been a while since ive gone bass fishing. NOW ITS TIME FOR ME TO GET BACK AFTER THEM HAWGS

  20. went to Ny this past weekend, caught some good fish. 7 hour drive up there but so worth it. i caught 3 kings and 3 steelies. these fish fought hard. they were jumping and peeling line. i used 8lbs floro. i love the battle on light line. im more of a trout guy. i love catching the big browns and steelies up here. they are so awesome. i saw these steelies. i watched them. studied them to figure out what they want. they were feeding off dead egg. so i matched the color to the eggs. i had some good hits and missed a few steelies. i hooked into 2 big browns, a big steelie and many kings. lost a big brown at the net. my buddy couldn't reach it before it spit the hook. part of the game. my buddy ended up with 4 kings, not bad for a his first time up there. i showed him the ropes and he produced. im a happy camper. i love helping my buddys get awesome fish like these king salmon
