  1. thanks you all for awesome tips!. i fished a slammer ALOT!! one of my favorite baits! drop shot in the shallow water works very well. beefed up and pitching to cover like wood. ive done very well years past with it.i should do it here. i heard theres a lot of springs. the main forage here is sunnies and shiners and eels! we took out the flash light and were looking for big bass and what ever else we could find! we didnt scout the whole pond like that just on the way back to the launch. i tried pitching and punchin but i used a 1.5 ounce weight! hard to find punching weights around here. i was really focused on fishing swimbaits cuz i heard and feel that theres giants in here! but with swimbaits your not always going to get bit! next time i will focused on flipping and pitching, froggin and fishing deeper as welll! i dont know the depth to it!
  2. so i found this new killer spot! heard of very big bass being caught from here! finally found access! first time i fished it was from shore last sunday and caught a 5.2. went out yesterday afternoon first time in a boat here. fishing was a little tougher then i expected! caught 3 bass! 2 dinks and a 4.2. tossed swimbaits alot! the structure of this place is amazing! lot of weeds and trees! clear water. shallow but has some depth to it! dont know how deep but id say like 10-20. lot of weeds! but ton of deep holes in between the weeds! also flooded islands to! like theres reeds up shallow in the middle of the pond and deep water around it! lot of points and coves! lot of pads to! lot of holes! youll cruise a flat of weeds then there would be a deep hole. theres one spot with a flooded reeds on both sides then a deep channel in between! what would you guys fish here and how? I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!! did i just found heaven? been a long time since ive felt this way about a spot
  3. went out to what could be my new favorite spot! slow fishing stuck a 4.2 on a fluke bait. 2 other dinks on topwater. tossed a swimbait around most of the time looking for big fish!
  4. fished over thursday friday and saturday. thursday night i got a 2.11 smallie and missed a good fish. friday went on my buddies john boat at midnight fished with him until 530. got a 4lbser and lost a giant at the boat! ALWAYS BRING THE NET!!!!!!!!!!!! saturday i went back to the same spot to get revenge, fished from shore! got a 2.11 largemouth missed another fish in weeds! sunday afternoon i drove around looking for new spots! tons of ponds are dried up. the last one of the day i got the only fish of the day! a fat 5.2lbser
  5. what about stained water??? some ponds near me are not muddy but have a dark tint to em! the shoreline to about 4 or 5 feet is clear
  6. its crazy to see how many big 5 6 and 7lbsers are caught from my home state of Massachusetts! yea thats small compared to down south but for up north thats great! a lot goes into producing a DD, food and weather are huge. most people think of the north as cold and snowy! but on the coast of MA, we are lucky if we get snow and ice! last year we didnt have any ice and snow! so the bass could keep growing! we have many lakes with herring golden shiners and trout! we also have ton of deep woods remote ponds that are not accessible. theres alot more 10lbser out there then we think! but they dont get to be 10s by being stupid!
  7. yea the whopper plopper launches out there! i use 20lbs braid and it flies out there! to bad the fish arent liking it much! haha! i fished last night caught a 2.11lbs smallie, lost a big fish and had a big blow up!
  8. ive caught the 7.8 on a swimbait. the 5.10 came on a weedless zoom luke. missed some large fish on the frogs! but ive i fish anything small up shallow its going to get eatin by dinks! most of my swimbaits are wake baits! got a bunch of slammers! my 7.8 hit a ms slammer deep crank x2 9inch blue gill!
  9. thanks! i will try both!
  10. i have a pond! BIG BASS! i caught a 7.8lbser and 5.10 here in june! its a small pond. deep woods, 30 feet deep! limited shallow water. the water is stained. tons of golden shiners, big shiners like 1lbsers. perch and sunnies! it has weeds on bottom but not like thick weeds like hydrilla and milfoil. no houses. shore line has some pads but mostly reeds and trees. we are in a drought so the awesome shoreline structure is out of the water. during the high water in spring the trees and reeds are flooded! ill fish here and get a couple dinks! ill cruise the drop offs and shoreline but i never had much luck out deep! any tips for figuring out this place???
  11. oh yea tasted awesome! we got some fresh blues that day as well!
  12. not a sea bass! its a grunt! this picture is a sea bass
  13. my favorite is when you catch some good fish on a bait you bought, you bought it cuz it looked good and itll get fish. so you use it and get good fish. so you buy more colors and dont catch fish on it
  14. i fished a deep woods remote pond yesterday. hiked 2 miles in beautiful clear clean cool water. lot of bait, shiners craws frogs and sunnies, no bass but my buddy hooked into a nice bow. the weather was hot sunny and calm so i think that may be the reason why the bass fishing was bad! there has to be bass in here! we saw a ton of beds and good structure. water was deep to! headed back out next weekend with the yaks at sunrise! i did go swimming in here! its a fantastic little oasis that i found! cant wait to see whats in these waters! my buddy caught a sunnie and i caught a shiner! we pond hoped around the area. looking for new spots! couple dink bass! so we decided to hit a pond my buddy and i know of with big bass! first cast on a live target field mouse i caught a 4lbser. thats the end of the day for us yesterday!
  15. let me know how they work
  16. WHERE DID YOU GET THEM
  17. heddon is a classic. strike king sexy dawgs are killer baits. but my new favorite is the tsunami talking popper. walks like a champ with splashing action. cast like a bullet on light braid
  18. ive done well with glow lures for lake trout and salmon but those are metals and rattle traps. i want to try em out some time for bass! i lost a very large fish one night on a chartreuse senko. this thing almost glowed it was very bright! so im think it may work good!
  19. i think a hinkle is a killer thick cover bait
  20. weedless hudd
  21. anybody ever use glow lures for bass at night? like a glowing texas rig worm or topwater??
  22. i need to fish the good ole jig and trailer at night more! ive used it once or twice but them t rig plastics have been killer
  23. so they arent pre rigged? how do they swim?
  24. ive been doing a lot of night fishing this year! my favorite lure is by far a big ugly creature bait crawled on bottom! i like bait with lot of vibration and noise! the spot im doing well at is a cement wall you can walk on. that puts me in 10 feet plus of water! there is good structure here with a drop off few yards out! ive shore fished and yak this place before at night and the best fishing is right at this one spot! so find good structure with some depth to it and your good to go! thoroughly fish the spot! try many different baits! ill bring 5 rods all with different baits! swimbaits, topwater, chatterbait, spinnerbiats, jigs and plastics! but big ugly creature baits crawled on bottom work best for me! this pond is a clear deep sandy pond with cray fish! thats why i think the bottom crawling baits work so much better then topwaters here! but if your in a shallow weedy pond then stick with topwaters! ill try a few different texas rig baits. one bait maybe better then another! fish slow with baits with lot of vibration, dark colors work better for me and really pound the spots you fish! keep casting! some days as you know! you need to work for em! somedays youll get 3 hits on one cast!
  25. good question! i dont have the answer
