I'm craving Taco Bell
Yes, it is funny how they can make something that smells and tastes so good, but the after-effects are horrible. I always have stomach trouble after eating Taco Bell (besides the Taquerias it's the only fast Mexican food we have within 45 minutes). Even though I swear I will never go back, I seem to be lured in there sometime again. It's kind of like when your parents spanked you with a belt. In the midst of it, I'd swear up and down (as they tanned my hide) "I'll-never (sob)- do (sniff) -it (wale)- again (sob)!". After the pain wears off and a week later, mom is whipping you again for the same thing. Give me Taco Bueno any day!!

Planning a company picnic
Hey guys, We are planning to initiate a faculty/staff picnic for our small 2A school district employees and their families. I was thinking that we might ask some of our boosters to cook some briskets for us and families would be asked to bring desserts and side dishes. Tables and chairs could be provided by the school district and the city has a pavilion to allow us shelter. We also have a PA system to play music and make announcements. There are ballfields at the city park as well as a playground for the kids. I thought about getting some lawn games (horseshoes, washers, etc.) for families to play (not planning on having official competitions). I was wondering if any of you have any more suggestions on planning for the event. I would anticipate around 100-150 people attending. Any ideas that I haven't mentioned?

20,000 Posts
Wake up, Irene!! I, too, appreciate all that you do around here, Kent. The thought of 20,000 posts IS mind-boggling, though. I noticed yesterday that I haven't even cleared 2,000 yet, and have been a member since '04. I guess bossing everyone around and telling them what they can and can't do takes alot of posts! ;D Seriously, thanks for your service!

Tobacco user? Prepare to bend over...
Rumor has it, the plan in many states (and proposed federally) is to re-call and destroy all ammo and then reproduce new ammo with ID numbers. Talk about increasing prices. I guess they figure with the "right to bear arms" they can't go after our guns, they might as well control us by the ammunition. If you possessed "unregistered" ammo, you would be committing a crime.

Brilliant marketing (sarcasm)
You guys are talking about high-end car audio and haven't even mentioned Kraco or Audivox? What are you thinking leaving these fine brands out of the discussion? : Yes, car audio has come along way since the 80's! I remember bringing my home stereo speakers from my bedroom and putting them behind the seat. Talk about "pro-audio". Back to the thread, Russ, wasn't there another brand called Sparkomatic?

Winter rears its ugly head again!
Just after a good outing to my "semi-private" lake, here comes old man winter one more time. The water temps. were in the low 60's last Saturday and we caught over 25 bass. I wake up this morning to 37 degrees, north wind and rain. I know we need the rain, so I'll suffer through. Temps are supposed to be back in the upper 60's by next week.

Tobacco user? Prepare to bend over...
I'm not knocking you guys, but you need to quit! I know it's hard (I smoked through the latter part of HS and college), but setting 4/1/09 as the day you never pick up another one is a great idea. Please consider it.

ICE STILL ON LAKE>>> UNDERARM DEODORANT QUESTION
What do you use under your LEFT arm?

Ipods? Yes or no?
No. Part of the beauty of fishing is the sound of nature. I don't want to ruin it by listening to an Ipod. Now if I was on a big lake and there was a ton of boat traffic, jetskis, etc., I might reconsider. Most of my fishing is done from a jonboat on smaller reservoirs and ponds, so outside noise is not a problem.

ICE STILL ON LAKE>>> UNDERARM DEODORANT QUESTION
No ice on the lakes here. I'm going after some pre-spawners tomorrow afternoon! Old Spice Red Zone stick- Aqua sport I've had ladies compliment me on my cologne while wearing this. I thought that was reason enough to stick with it.

There are few things I hate more than a thief
Child molesters. If it was up to me, every one of those creeps would serve ninety-nine years in the electric chair. My daughter was kidnapped, raped, and murdered. I have a concealed weapon permit and won't hesitate to intervene in a situation where assault or life is at stake, but thieves are nothing but a minor annoiance. Be thankful you only lost a few replacable objects. Wow, that really puts it into perspective. I'm sorry to hear that. Don't forget those who commit violent crimes against the elderly! >

Requesting your prayers again.
The thing that sticks in my mind now, is how utterly insignificant those HUGE issues I had back then are to me now and back then they were serious enough to weigh my life against them. That is a thought that I would like to convey to this young man, and will when he comes around. UPDATE: I went to see him yesterday (just out of surgery) and witnessed a miracle. He used a .45 auto below the chin and doesn't have brain damage and the bullet went just between a branch in the optical nerve (so no blindness). It is obvious that God's giving this boy a second chance at life. He has a wired jaw and will have for 3 months. The surgeon took around 6 hours to totally reconstruct the nasal passages and forehead exit wound. There will be many other surgeries to follow. Our school counselor met with the 8th graders this morning to give a report on his condition. I heard from one student that there is already negativity coming from classmates ("he was stupid, etc."). I am concerned that this doesn't make things worse within our student population. Thanks again for your continuing prayers and thoughts! -Fisher

Requesting your prayers again.
Thanks guys! It's times like this when I truly appreciate all of you around BassResource.com. Hjerk, Thanks for that scripture. I find it no coincidence that it is the same one that I put in our church newsletter this month. Re-reading it comforted me. This young man has been struggling as he was adopted by his grandfather a couple of years ago. The mom has never really had much to do with him and he doesn't even know who his father is. Some of the trouble started when his grandfather (now father) re-married. The step-grandmother (who is a teacher for our church program) and the young man haven't gotten along over the past year. He has been to counseling and even a psychologist with the family and they have been doing everything they can to get through this. On top of the problems at home, he is bullied by several other boys at school. I have tried to deal with this on an individual basis, but our administration seems to turn their head to the problem. Hopefully, this will be a wake-up call to them to stand up and address the problem. We talked to family this morning, and he is still in trauma ICU and is sedated. There is swelling and he will probably face a full day of reconstructive surgery tomorrow. He awoke last night to see the grandfather and got really agitated (thus the sedation; perhaps upset that he wasn't successful). It looks like he'll pull through, but there will be many hurdles in front of him and the family. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers and will keep you guys updated as to his condition. God bless, FOM P.S. Justfishin, I will keep that family in my prayers as well.

Requesting your prayers again.
Hey everyone, As many of you know, I had one of my 8th grade students pass away back at the beginning of the year. A couple of hours ago, I got a call that one of my 13 year old students had shot himself. I am close to this young man and his family in that they are also church members and help with our children's music program. The shot apparently entered his chin and exited around his nose, and he was care-flighted to Ft. Worth. I do not currently know his condition, but that he was concious when EMT's arrived. I'm sure there will be alot of heartache in our school this weekend and Monday morning. On top of this we have state standardized testing on Tuesday that 8th graders must pass to move on to high school. Please lift up this family in your thoughts and prayers as well as our students and faculty. God bless, Stacy

Taurus .410 Revolver
I never knew one existed. Does it shoot a standard .410 shotshell or does it use a .410 caliber cartridge? Either way, I'd hate to meet one in someone's dark home some night.

Favorite Albums
Funny how half of these listed were never actually on a (record) album! I still say there's something about that crackling on an old hi-fi set. Here's a some favorites that I actually own (on vinyl; well, one's on 8-track): Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon Beatles- Abbey Road CCR- Cosmos Factory Styx- Paradise Theatre (it has a really cool prismatic emblem embedded in it) Do I have anything to play them on now. . . well, uh. . ?

New DAD
Hey, congratulations!! It will be the most joyous day that you've ever experienced. Boy or girl, pray for a healthy child. Little girls can fish just as good as the boys. "This one's big enough it might bite me, Daddy! You hold it". See pic below:

I'm home thick today
X2 on the Alka Seltzer Plus. Also if you have chest congestion, take a two or three day round of mucinex (generic is cheaper).

English professor sucks.
Been there, done that. As an alternative one semester, I took a creative writing class for English credit. All through my public school career, I had teachers tell me that I wrote quite well. This guy criticized everything I turned in. Needless to say, he and I bargained for a "C" and I was glad to see his class in my rear view.

Public Service Announcement
That's ok, I never got to see it anyway. I saw it faintly one time, but I think someone was on the other end carrying it and running away from me. :

WHEN YOUR KIDS FOLLOW IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS
I'm with you there. Some of my footsteps went areas I NEVER want my daughter going. Hopefully her's will follow straighter and narrower path than mine. Now if she ends up where I am, that would be just fine with me.
