fall fishing cutoff?
Not until the water gets hard. Some of my biggest bass to date have been caught in cooler water temps. Air temp. is irrelevant.

weight measuring?
The only true way to tell if your scale is dead on is to have it certified.Or check it against a certified scale.Go to the store and buy a jug of water ,at the check out have the cashier weigh it.On there certified scale.(post office will work also.)Take a marker and write the weight on it.Do this with a gallon and a half gallon. Then you will have certified weights to check your scale with. You may be surprized So what exactly does a what not weigh? :

Speaking of NASCAR and Toyota....
My father in law watches it all the time and I just can't get interested in it. I don't really care who the team or manufacturer is, it seems odd to limit them because they are TOO successful. Isn't that the whole point of a racing series, to BE successful? I'm with catt on this one Specifically, the rule change requires engines with a cylinder bore spacing of 4.470 inches or more to run a tapered spacer with four holes measuring 1.100 inches each in diameter, compared with the 1.125-inch holes previously required. Toyota engines currently are the only ones in use in the Nationwide Series that feature a cylinder bore spacing of 4.470 inches or more. NASCAR's intent with the rule change is to balance competition. Toyota has won 14 of 21 Nationwide races this season, with cars fielded by Joe Gibbs Racing accounting for 13 victories. The No. 20 JGR Camry has won nine times, with four different drivers behind the wheel. Toyota, which debuted in the Sprint Cup and Nationwide series simultaneously last season, has its new engine package in place in NASCAR's "Triple-A" league. Eventually, NASCAR expects Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge to follow suit and upgrade their engine packages in the Nationwide Series. "Eventually, all teams that upgrade to new engine packages will be subject to this rule modification," NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton said Wednesday in a release describing the rule change. "Over the years in our sport, we've taken steps on numerous occasions to help maintain a level playing field among our competitors, and we will continue to do so."

Illegal outboard motor use
I think you guys answered the question already. It was said we all speed driving or some do 5 to 10 mph over, whats to stop you from doing this on the lake?I feel a 10 horse limit sets the speed limit on these lake. There are several 10 HP restricted lakes that I mainly fish and love them.I dont have to worry about some guy with a big motor blasting past me while I am out fishig with my son.I'm sure there are other resons but these are just my thoughts.

This Buds for you
The tag on my Redwing boots says made in china, I thought too I was buying american but was sadly disapointed. Not to many things we buy anymore that isn't made somewhere else. I have many thoughts as to why we are in the shape we are in but won't go there. Redwing shoes are all made in USA. Every shoe that says Redwing on it is made in USA. Redwing sells Chinese shoes under the Irish Setter, Vasque, and Worx Brand names.

Who here fishes from the bank?
Alot of great info here. The only thing I would add, when fishing smaller lakes and ponds is be steathy, walk light wear more nutral colors try to blend in a bit. Also when i get to a spot I stop 20' or so from the bank and make some long casts before moving to waters edge. When moving I'll move back away from the water then move to my next spot and repeat.Alot of nice bass can be had from the bank. Good luck and have fun.

First day with Speed Clips, lost a bass and bait...
Nope muddy just you tyrius No problem with you at all.Don't mind If anyone disagrees with my opinion, just don't like being bashed for having one. That being said hope we can let it go and just move on. :-X I've been bass fishing for 30+ years and learn something new every time out.I fish crankbaits alot of the time, and has been that way for the last 15 years. It's my go to bait and my most productive bait by far.Tried snaps years ago and didn"t like them.Just didn't work for me.JMHO But will use snaps if they come on the cranks by design. But,you bring up some very good points. I have used the rapla knot on cranks, but have more faith in the palomar knot, I hav'nt really noticed it inhibiting the action of the bait. But what you said about the snap allowing the split ring to move within the knot got me thinking. So my question is, if say crankbait companys such as bandit, strikeking etc.Design, build, test and sell there cranks without snaps but were needed to get the proper action wouldn't they come with them?I also understand this may just be personal prefrence. What are your thoughts on this.

First day with Speed Clips, lost a bass and bait...
Why would you want to ruin (I'm assuming run means ruin) the action in this way? If you want a tighter wobble why not use a flat sided crank? Run means run ,and ruin means ruin(a least where I come from) I want to RUN a crank bait the way it comes and the way it was made. Not change the action(possibly) by adding something.I have many crankbaits. Some have very tight wobbles (not flat sided) and some have wider wobbles. This was all I was saying.I am very sorry for having an opinion on this. What I do and use works for me,does'nt make it right or wrong. What you use works for you.So I guess that makes it right. In the future I will keep my thoughts to myself And again, sorry to all for the drama and off topic nosense that my opinion caused. turtle (just some dummy in ohio)

First day with Speed Clips, lost a bass and bait...
A chain is only as strong as its weekest link I only tie direct, and retie often. If you do not use a rapala or someother kind of Loop Knot , you are running the action of the lure. I have been using Duolock clips for years and they are in no way a weak link.I have never had one fail.open or cause a break. I have had such issues with a rapidly tied knot, or fayed line Ok muddy here we go again : First :I want to run the action of the lure. Not give the crankbait more wobble action. If this where the case I would change to one that fit my needs for a given situation.(wider wobble) Second: No where in my statement did I say that Duolock clips are a weak link What I said was" A chain is only as strong as its weekest link"What I ment was I am not going to add something else that could possibly fail. Third:If you have had such issues with a knot then it was a poorly tied knot wether to a snap or direct does not matter. And last:the question has still not been answered If the knot was still on the line, where did the line break?????

Wide Gap vs regular worm hooks
x2 Was having a problem with my hook up ratio, kinda out of the blue.A buddy suggested Gamakatsu's EWG hooks, that fixed the problem. It was over two years ago,and I have'nt looked back.I now use them exclusively for all plastics.
