  1. I would end up with marabou glued on my fingers if I tried this. Allen
  2. Tonight was the initial Thursday night tournament held on the Upper Potomac River and I caught a new PB. Throwing a Keitech Crazy Flapper in GP over Orange I hooked into a monster and thought I had the winning bass for the evening. When we actually got it into the net it was about a 20lb Flathead catfish which is a new PB but quite a disappointment. I was really hoping it was a big SM that would put me into the money. Allen
  3. Texas rigged just like you and yes I have noticed it spirals as well. This bait I use when they are hitting creature baits and I am looking to upgrade as they catch bigger fish. If I must keep the bait from spiraling, I use the Owner weighted center pin hook in 3/32oz along with the bullet weight. Allen
  4. Tom, what are your thoughts on the wooden Sammy vs the regular plastic ones? I recently picked up 2 along with a Mike Bucca Bull shad to try. As for confidence baits I have a ton of different ones based on where I am fishing. Where I live in Maryland I have to fish a lot of different water/conditions. Upper Potomac River is mostly SM in a clear to stained rocky river so a lot of tubes, finesse jigs, jerkbaits. Lower Potomac is Tidal, muddy, and all LM so baits are different for example rattle traps, big bladed spinnerbaits, etc that fish can find using their lateral line. Third set of conditions is deep really clear lakes and reservoirs which usually means light line and finesse baits like drop shot. So for all of these I have developed confidence lures over the years for each situation. The lures that crossover all of these though are; shakeyhead, flick shake, spinnerbait, creature bait, and a jig. Allen
  5. Send me a message and I will send you some heads to try. If they work I can give you all the information needed for someone to make them locally for you. The mold can only make 1/8 and 3/16oz so let me know what weight. Allen
  6. Just found a pack of those a week ago while looking for something else. My kit has 2 different types of weights. Allen
  7. Weedguard? and if so how heavy? Allen
  8. Not sure? I don't have any of those tubes. The tube in the picture is a 2.75" Bite Rite tube. Allen
  9. Cut the original hooks off and add better hooks with split rings. You will lose less fish with the split rings as the fish have less leverage. Allen
  10. These are what I use if fishing a fluke deeper than 4' or in current. Zoom flukes are more buoyant than other baits so the 3/32oz works perfect. Allen
  11. Action outweighs color for me when it comes to crankbaits. I have had days where a bait was working then the bite slowed down. Switching color of the same bait and started catching again. Like others have said why would you switch out a bait that is working? Allen
  12. Personally, I would go with double colorado blades and a grub. I think this is the bait Bill Lowen fishes a lot. Allen
  13. Smallie Beaver Baby Brush Hog Super Hog Texas rigged, bobber stop, 3/16oz bullet weight is what I use most. I do use 1/16 to 3/8oz bullet weights as well for different depths, etc. Allen
  14. I have made 100's of spinnerbaits and not a single inline spinner. In the spring everywhere around here was sold out of the Mepps I like to use. Plan on trying to make some once I figure out how to make the wire loop on the end. Allen
  15. Rig’n Hook – Owner Hooks Owner Rig'N hooks are made in heavy wire smaller sizes. I have a pack of size 4 ones around here that I guess are for punching matts for bluegill on a flippin stick? Allen
  16. I can make you some if it's OK with Glenn? I will make them for cost plus actual shipping. Allen
  17. Wackie Head Jig Molds (do-itmolds.com) Ballhead wacky head mold. Tapered Tube Skirt Jig - Sz: 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8 - Hk: 410 or 413 - Collar: None (do-itmolds.com) The one right above is what I used to pour the heads pictured. Allen
  18. Usually in the summer when it's hot and low clear water. The little finesse jig just works better for me. Allen
  19. So here are some I poured on some size 2 wacky rig hooks I had to bend from 30 to 60 degrees. Mustad 91768 hook maybe a little too long? Do-It hook looks like it would work. This is a 2.75" Bite Rite tube for a size reference. Both hooks can be poured in 1/8 and 3/16oz cavities but the Do-It hook does not fit anything bigger. Allen
  20. Wacky Head Jig - Sz: 3/32, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 - Hk: 785 - Collar: None (do-itmolds.com) My suggestion would be to try some of these flick shake heads without the weedguard. Mustad makes a size 1 hook for this mold and the Mustad 91768 in sizes 1/0 to 6/0. The reason you cannot find a stupid head for this is the hooks (60 degree EWG) used are not made in any sizes except 3/0 and 4/0. I will try and check tomorrow to see what hooks I have and compare to a small tube. Allen
  21. Live Target bluegill bait that's like a hollow belly frog. Took on water on the 3rd cast and sank. In theory it was a good bait just failed in the final product. Lure that also got me was a Nishine crankbait that I paid like $35-40 for. Bait looks great it just has never caught a single fish and I try. Figured it owes me at least one fish based on what I paid? It just keeps letting me down. Allen
  22. This is how I pick colors for most of my topwaters. I have yet to find a color of hollow topwater frog that works better than others? Best frog for me overall is the GP/pearl Zoom Horny Toad. Allen
  23. Thanks for sharing this! I have hand bent some like this in the past just never figured out how to do it consistently. Now I can get them made however I want if I order 5-10k frames. Allen
