  1. Fish with what you are comfortable with as far as line. I have been using straight floro 6-10lb line on spinning rods for 20 years. Last year I tried the braid to floro leader for the fish time which has plus and minuses IMO. The 3 rods I am fishing Neds on are: 6-10MLF 6lb floro, 6-8 MXF 8lb floro, 7MF 15lb braid w/8lb floro leader. Allen
  2. Thanks! I was supposed to fish a team tournament on the Lower Potomac River tomorrow. Frogs and swim jigs are working there now so I am going to miss out. Allen
  3. Do you have any pics you want to share? I used to modify spinnerbaits and jigs all the time. Figured out it was just easier to build them the way I wanted than to modify. Allen
  4. An old back injury from a parachute jump in the Army is flaring up again on me. Pain where my neck and back meet is killing me right now. Combine that with whatever is causing the tingling in my arm makes it hard to fish. Last time out from the bank I could only handle it for about an hour before the pain was too much. Reeling a spinning reel with my left hand is the worst which feels like someone punching me in the neck each turn. Waiting on a doctor's appointment right now and the VA to approve my physical therapy. Hope this crap goes away so I can at least fish some? Boat motor blew up about a month ago and now this. Allen
  5. Waiting on the samples to arrive. Allen
  6. All the ones I had were white that I bought at K-Mart. Allen
  7. Back in the day when it was called Rat fishing before the hollow body frogs came out. The baits I had were made by Mann's in the early 90's. Allen
  8. With everything else you need to have balance. What I mean is if punching grass matts with 80lb braid then yes. Now if you are running 15lb braid on a spinning rod then heavy hooks are not needed. Allen
  9. Another thing I noticed about copperheads is their tails are stubby compared to other snakes. I have been bitten by small gardener snakes while handling them as a kid. Just felt like a small pinch and did not hurt at all. We use to catch snakes as kids including copperheads and black snakes. Allen
  10. Went turkey hunting when I was 15 with my stepfather in Smthsburg, MD. He was scared of snakes big time. I got to my spot and setup; he had about a mile to his spot further up this logging trail. After about 15 minutes I heard 3 shots from his direction a 2-minute pause then 3 more shots. No reason I could think of to have to re-load for 3 more shots so I went to see what up? When I got there you could see the bare spots on the ground from shotgun blasts. He ran into a black snake on the trail so he shot it 3 times with a 12 guage and just in case reloaded and shot it 3 more times. Not sure how big that snake was to start with but the biggest piece I found was about 2". Allen
  11. Copperheads are common around here in the woods as I ran into them when hunting. We have the Timber Rattler as well but I have only seen one in my life. Now the Northern water snake is everywhere and what people think are moccasins. These I leave alone unless they get aggressive then they die. Allen
  12. Lost 5 of them on one trip which was expensive. Allen
  13. Experimenting with painting crackle pattern on this one. Allen

  20. Finding a reliable tournament partner is tough! I went through a couple that let me down. Allen
  21. Pearl white, albino, and a custom poured one in Yamamotos Natural Shad color. Allen
  22. This guy has the best fishing spot. Allen
  23. Maybe spawning bass just bumping it because its too close to their bed? I have more of a problem with hooking them in the side than missing fish on LC jerkbaits. Allen
  24. He is good, if you want to fish the Potomac then go with Rocky Droneburg. Allen
  25. Dislike: Carolina rig and DS, I will use them if I have to. Can’t stand using: Whopper Plopper Can’t catch bass on: Whopper Plopper Can't remember a lure the has unset me more than the Whopper Plopper. Half a blade of grass will stop the blade from spinning. Since people mow their grass everyday from April till October the grass is always floating down the Potomac. I can drag an 8' tree with a Tiny Torpedo and the blade still spins. Allen
