  1. Like other have said I use to HATE jigs! I caught maybe 4 fish on jigs ever until I had a conversation with some older gentlemen at BPS in Springfield. He noticed me buying lures and when I walked right down the jig row without even looking he said I was going right by the main lure I needed? I told him I had tried them and they just did not work? He asked what kind I was using and I said the black/blue 1/2oz that everybody and their brother swears by. He said why don't you try some jigs in the same color as the soft plastics you are using? He recommended the Eakins jig in 5/16oz in any natural color. Once I started using a brown jig it was on! Now that I have been fishing jig for a few years I can say I only need a few colors; light brown, dark brown, solid black, and whitish for swimming jigs. Allen
  2. The 97MR catches a lot of fish for me! I do carry the 112 for larger fish though. The only colors I use are Ghost Minnow=Clear water and Pearl Ayu for stained. Allen

http://www.staminainc.com/skirts/natures_edge.html I would order a 5 pack each of;(532) Pumpkin, (535) Burnt Orange, and (540) Watermelon and see what the colors look like before ordering more. Allen

Ok I dug out my skirt tabs and this is what I found out. The greem is Natures edge watermelon (259 Janns Netcraft) The red/brown color looks like Natures edge Burnt orange And now for the confusing part I have 3 different Natures edge Pumkin (249 Janns Netcraft) and they are 3 different colors :-? One looks just like your pumkinseed color, one looks like the burnt orange color and the third one is closer to orange. Your pumkin could be Pumkin pepper (090 Janns) it is the same color as the natures edge pumkin only the black flake is smaller. The picture colors on Janns do not match the colors of any of the tabs either? Allen
  5. I like that color but a Megabass Vision is the most worthless jerkbait I own. This is the only jerkbait that I have never caught a fish on? I have a Wal-Mart Renegade jerkbait that cost $0.40 on sale that outfishes it. Now since I paid so much for these I am going to give them another chance this year. Allen
  6. Ghost minnow is the only color you need for clear water. Buy a 78sp and a slender pointer 97mr both in ghost minnow and your set. Allen

I started making my own last year because I couldn't find any swimming jigs. Most of the time I use a 1/4oz bait w/ single tail grub, MH rod, 10-15lb line. Those jigs look alright but EWG jig hooks do not work very well for me. Do you have a link to their website so I can see the other colors? Allen
  8. http://www.caswellplating.com/powder/powder_colors.html The post below about the cost of powder paint made me remember this. I use this powder paint and it works great and have never had any problems. The best part is it is only like $13/lb instead of $4-5 for 2oz like Pro-Tec. Allen
  9. They work for me but I do not fish poppers a lot. Allen
  10. Not sure about the foodsource lures but Gulp catches everything except bass for me? I have caught more water snakes on Gulp than bass Allen
  11. LC Gunnish 95 is the best for me hands down. I own all the other baits people have mentioned but the Gunnish just seems to work better for me. Allen
  12. LC (in no particular order) 1. Pointer SP 2. Pointer DD 3. Slender pointer 97MR 4. Gunnish 95 5. G-Splash 65 7. Sammy 100 8. RC 1.5 9. RC 0.5 10. S8 Popper Other expensive baits I like: 1. Team Diawa minnow 1091 2. M1 Inspire minnow 3. Xcalibur Xs4 4 Yo-Zuri crystal minnow Allen
  13. You can use regular needle nose pliers but I use a set that is round on one side and cupped on the other. Allen

3/0 -5/0 EWG worm hook? If I had to only use one for all those it would be a 4/0. Allen
  15. Green pumkin dynamite Spear gun Casting net Or maybe just let them spawn in peace instead of trying to drag them off their beds so bluegill eat all the eggs they are trying to defend! Allen

http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/skirt-making-material/360753.aspx Since Barlows is giving me an error message check out this link. I believe you have 249, 260 and 270 there but that darker brown could be burnt orange? http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/skirt-making-material/360750.aspx# http://www.staminainc.com/skirts/natures_edge.html This link shows some different colors The problem is each company calls the color by a different name so the only way to match up that skirt is by comparing it to the actual tabs themselves. Tomorrow I will dig out the tabs themselves and see what matches the picture the best. Allen

I actually recognize all of those colors but I have to look up the color numbers. Off the top of my head though they are; watermelon black flake, amber, and chestnut brown or burnt orange. Let me see what Barlows color chart says. Allen
  18. OK you need to quit giving away all the secrets. Allen
  19. While I have just about every different blade made I still have the best luck with silver willows. Allen

Skirt tabs are the skirt material when it is still together. Top picture http://www.barlowstackle.com/make-spinner-bait-skirts.html Allen
  21. Reel very fast in clear water. Allen
  22. All of those baits are either 3/8 or 1/2oz but the size of a regular 1/4oz. I have a prototype 1/2oz bait that is physically smaller than a Booyah pond minnow that I have been working on. Thanks for the compliments! Allen
  23. Is that "cuddlefish"? I was looking at them too. Allen
  24. LC Gunnish 95 and G-Splash 65 Tiny torpedo Jitterbug Zoom toad The LC baits are expensive but think of it this way. How many topwaters do you actually lose? In 20+ years of fishing topwaters I have only lost or broke 5 or 6. Out of them 3 were stolen by tiger muskees, 1 because the ceramic fell out of the rod tip fraying the line, and I did shatter a popper against a bridge piling. Allen
