  1. I've gotten to the point that I'll only throw a Senko as a last resort. It just doesn't seem fair to use them otherwise.
  2. A good antidote to the bait monkey is to have more kids. The bait monkey doesn't have a chance against the diaper monkey!
  3. 5 lbs in April on a Cordell Super Spot 3/4 oz in Rayburn Red.

These are great suggestions. I wonder, however, how interesting these posts would be if the old ladies were watching everyone type on the ol' computer? A true BAM member such as myself would not say one thing different. YEAH! Gotta go. The wife's coming
  5. I have a PD and besides the other problems already mentioned, there is no good way to route the transducer cable. If you do go with a PD, make sure you get the universal sonar. Also, the steering moter is too noisy for my tastes. I'm always afraid I am spooking fish when I need to make a directional adjustment.

If your wife goes fishing with you, what do you do to get away from your wife? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  7. I was flipping a Beaver on 50 lb braid and a 7'6" heavy action rod into thick vegetation recently and got a bite almost as soon as the bait hit the water. I reared back and gave it the old "cross his eyes" and realized I still had the line in my left hand. OUCH! I cut my index finger almost to the bone. I did land the fish though
  8. I placed an order from BPS.com last night for some bunk board lubricant. Normally, whenever I order something I need from BPS I try to pick up some other things to economize on shipping. The only other items I purchased were two packs of spinnerbait trailers (Cajun split-tail). What's up with that? That's the best I could do? I think the monkey must be sick. Maybe I just caught him napping :-?
  9. I've never made one with a rope, but I have some homemade plug knockers that work great most of the time. Attach a large snap swivel (eyelet end) to the electrode end of an old spark plug and bend it over to hold the swivel. When you get snagged, clip the snap on the line and let it fall. If that doesn't work, shake your line until the plug knocks the bait free. this probably works 80% of the time and if it doesn't, you are not out much money (for the plug knocker anyway).
  10. What kind of baits do you want most? Narrow it down to a category or two and we'll be glad to express our opinions Crankbait? Topwater? Spinnerbait? Soft Plastic? Jig? Jerkbait?
  11. When you can't even rmember how much your kids weighed when they were born, but you can recite weight, length, girth, time of day, lure used, water temp. and clarity, retrieve speed, line, rod, reel, and every millisecond of the strike and the fight that resulted in your PB. ;D GUILTY!
  12. If the fish at teh Senko as you described, why did you switch to the lizard? Maybe that was the problem
  13. Another good tip regarding retrieve speed is this: Once found, I try to replicate the feel of the retrieve rather than the cranking speed. This keeps the bait speed consistent regardless of current, wind, boat speed, etc.
  14. I went out this morning and caught ~12 bass on topwater before 08:00 (sunrise at 07:00). Then the bite died; topwater and otherwise. Water temp was 65 degrees at 06:15 when I got there and warmed to 69 by mid day.
  15. It's not listed on the current schedule on theoutdoorchannel.com, but it just may be on summer hiatus. Joe films the shows during the current tour year and plays them back in the fall. I don't recall if they showed reruns during summer last year or not.
  16. I'm sure hockey is extremely difficult to play. There are many difficult things to do that I have no desire to watch. Especially when OLN paid so much for hockey that they increased their fee to DISH Network and, consequently, I no longer get it. I now don't get to watch my fishing shows on OLN or hockey if I so chose.
  17. I thought the fish was weighed?
  18. OLN, huh? STUPID HOCKEY!
  19. I would put her at 9-11 pounds unless she is extremely skinny. The fish in my avatar is 7 pounds 11 ounces and she sure looks bigger than mine. I am 5' 10" and 250 pounds if that gives you any sense of scale. Congratulations!
  20. Is this show currently playing? I watched it last year on the Outdoor Channel but I can't found it on DISHNetwork any where now.
  21. Also, keep your eyes open for any baitfish or any other relevant activity. I once caught dozens of bass in a lake with very little cover by looking for feeding activity and chasing the motion down with the trolling motor and making long casts with a popper. The bass were suspended near the surface over 80 feet of water in the middle of the lake. Go figure :-/
  22. I'm not saying this is all BS, but consider the source (Powerbait and Gulp! anyone?). I know from experience that fish will hold on to Powerbait for a long time, but fish hold on to Senkos for a long time too. If a bass has ever spit a Senko on me I wasn't aware of it.
  23. I think that if you've thrown a bait 10,000 times and never caught a fish on it you have some sort of personality disorder. Give up! And to top it off, you've bought over 500 of them! I don't think any retrieve can help. Just chucking and winding it should have fooled at least a few easy fish over the years. I have no clue what advice to give you. My six year old daughter has caught spinnerbait bass and she's only thrown them a few times. Good luck. I am not trying to be mean, but this post really blows my mind. I just hope you are pulling our legs.
  24. I seldom hit the water without giving a buzzer a try. I have caught tehm with water temps down into the mid 40s. Granted, that's rare, but it has happened enought that I'll still try it.
  25. The time is not changing, only our clocks. The fish do not care. The only difference will be the time you are able to fish based on the artificial limits we place on ourselves by living in the modern world. The good thing is, if one wishes to fish at sunrise, one can sleep in an extra hour
