Vicious Flourocarbon
I bought a 550yrd spool of 8lb flouro last year used it up- my thoughts are it is VERY strong but VERY rigid and not very managable it is the stiffest line out there I have used- at some applications its great but not a well rounded over all line.

braided line for finesse fishing
simply amazing I started doing this a couple months ago and wow- 6lb spiderwire steatlh tied to an 8ft flouro leader on my glx drop shot rod I can feel everything.

Reely kool !
No Doubt it could easily be called the Fast and Furious Eddition- Its like a Japanesse import compact car souped up rice rocket. I do like it very cool indeed I'd be afraid to put a finger print on it however.

Will Loomis?
I think they are amazing just the way they are- on their spinning rods the front cork foregrip is comfy when touching the rod blank with my index finger.

Line size for Jigs...
I currently run 30lb braid with a 3ft leader of 15lb halo F/C. I open water jig from 5 to 30ft of water- is the 15lb leader too much you think? I like the idea of hard hooksets and extra strength as it is generally really rocky where my jig goes. I catch fish but wonder if I might be scaring away line shy bass. What do you think?

Taking Bets: Who's gonna be the first to buy this?
fish up here would laugh at that thing.

Shelf life of plastics?
half life of 1 million years- lol they will out last you unless you mix them with strike king XXX triple strength plastics- they are like a catalyst and react pretty violently when mixed with other plastics. What a mess that was!, my whole box was a robo worm margaretta mutilator purple color after the meltdown of "chernobyl" otherwise known as my late finess box.

What's the proper gear ratio for crankbaits??
I use a 3.8 Curado for deep divers(DD22's deep X200's Luhr Jensen) and also my paddle tail swim baits- something about moving those big cranks and swim baits slow and deep bring on the bites and heavy fish for me- around here it is my kicker fish bait after I have a good limit. I use this when I have time to dedicate a proven big fish tactic, like 2hrs left of the tourny. I go to a deep point and chug it several times, then the next point and on and on til weigh in. I think the 3.8 is key- I am a hyper guy and this is probably the only way to slow me down, some of you other guys probably don't need a 3.8 or at least I am going to tell you that ;D

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BRAND OF SPINNING ROD
GLX spinning rods are the undisputed king of sensitivity- amazing! They are truely treasured items that I own.
-
should i move up to a GLX ?
My two favorite rods are GLX spinning rods- if it were casting gear I'd say stick with the IMX a spinning rod is where you are really going to benefit from a GLX blank. I don't think there is a huge difference between IMX and GLX though, not like the difference between a GL3 and an IMX that is a huge difference. That being said- if something were to happen to one of my GLX's I would replace it with another GLX without hessitation. My two GLX's are the BSR852 and DSR820, simply amazing sticks-

favorite reel
I have owned most all of them except(flooger, Pennicle, Ardent, and some others- I have owned a few models of each of the big 3(shimano Daiwa Quantum) no Abus yet, excuse me of the big 4. Shimano Curados and Chronarchs are my favorites they come in about every gear ratio and very reliable no suprises which is a must with fishing equipment, I probably like them so much because they are what I started/learned with like riding a bike with them as far as setup once you get the brakes right its harder to use another design familiarity is nice- My favorite spinning reels are my daiwas Fuego 2000 and Limited Edition Black Widow 2500's- they just beat everything else when it comes to line twist. I guess I will give the quantum PT I used to own an honorable mention cant bash it but I cant brag on it either. Never held a Revo yet sure they are great reels- all the higher end stuff seems to be good these days you get what you pay for.

Which Tubes Should I Use?
They are from my neck of the woods and are simply awesome.

Paddletail Swimmbait Frustration
I have fished them anytime a spinnerbait would be an option- worked out pretty good for me caught some nice smallies on it prefishing. What works for me is a SUPER SLOW retrieve to the point that the bait barely swims and deep- I do this with a 3.8:1 curado reel- ooops thats kind of a secret anyone that tries this will thank me later- due to it being friday and having a beer for lunch- get'r'done this works and its how a lot of guys make this paddletail work.
-
Why does my Tour edition make noise?
quantums do make a bit of noise when casting- its a smooth even pitch though anything else and I'd say you have problems. I did have a curado do that to me earlier this spring and I pulled it apart and cleaned all the old lube out put fresh lube on the spool bearings not much tho and presto all better- I think I got a bit carried away with the bearing lube over the winter.
-
What did I break on my beloved Curado?
Its probably all salty (corrosion)

Rod for plastic swimbaits?
For the hollow belly paddle tails I like my GL3 7' MH. Its plenty of rod for those baits. I wouldn't go any lower than a MH you gotta get that hookset solid.

What are your deciding factors in choosing rod length?
I don't think height makes a difference in selecting a rod length and 5'11" aint short, I am pretty sure around 5'10" is the average height for a guy.
-
I really get irritated
too funny-
-
Do you palm it?
Cool glad it works for you- When I palm baitcasters its trigger between right ring and pinky with my thumb over the back of the reel index finger just above the line guide. On my spinning gear the reel support is between my right ring and pinky with my index on the rod blank. Fundamentally the same.
-
Do you palm it?
So...How do you palm a spinning reel? : Do you grab your spinning reel with your hand behind the reel support- that would be like not palming a baitcaster. I always palm I think it is easier to get into hookset mode plus its more balanced.
-
What are your deciding factors in choosing rod length?
Back in the day when I was getting started a guy at the local shop said it was all depending on your height- if you are short then you need a shorter rod and vice versa. Since then I have realized he has a point but I don't really agree with it unless you are a youth or little old lady. What I recomend is, longer rods for open water 6'6" to 7'6" unless its top water or jerk bait then I'd say <or= to 6'6". I prefer a 7'er unless I am jerk'n or pop'n- I almost always fish out of a boat in open water. To sum it up... personal preference

2009 Quantum Tour Edition PT preview...
If somebody with the techical knowledge ( somebody like RM ) did me the favor of telling me that Quantum has achieved the durability and dependability Shimano and Daiwa reels have then I would consider purchasing a Quantum reel, that very first Quantum I purchased many moons ago left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. Many moons ago I had a shimano that left a bad taste in my mouth- I think all of the manufacturers have improved in quality at least in the higher end market. I have owned the last couple Energy PT gen reels and a tour PT- very solid but definately not very popular on this forum. Nothing wrong with quantums as far as I'm concerned.

Hmmm, Shaky head on a bait caster?
You can make it work don't let it keep you from using a great summertime tactic "shakey head"! I just started using the the "shakey head" this year and I love it. Save your money get a nice Spinning combo for that "Shakey Head" use it for drop shot and split shots as well heck anything with light line and finesse baits. I used to hate getting out the spinning gear but lately I love the tactics and my favorite combo is indeed my spinning outfit- but you gotta use whatever the fish want don't limit yourself.

Lucky Craft
pointer 100 or a Staysee 90 in any color. Lucky craft jerkbaits are great
