Braid on carbonlite rods
I have read a bunch of articles (I'm by no means an expert) Most people, including many, many rod builders, believe most ceramic guides made today will definitely hold up to braid. Here is just one forum decision https://www.rodbuilding.org/read.php?2,399062,399095

Braid on carbonlite rods
I have a carbonlite casting rod, with the micro guides. I use a fg knot and it goes through pretty smooth. I tried the United to unit and Alberto knot. You could feel the knot going through the guides with these two knots

LMH For Dummies
I have 2 of these rods. They are excellent rods for anything 3/16 to 3/8. I had a g lommis nrx 503 and sold it to buy my second helium 3 lmh. If you are planning on fishing 3/8 and above go with the mh

Aluminum Angle Issues
I was thinking, he could use 3" square tube. That serves a dual purpose. He could use it as part of his framing and he woul be able to run his wires, without taking up alot or room. I tore my boat down to the frame and that's the first thing I did. I agree with @Way2slow with using plywood. It will save alot of money. I purchased metal hatches and they cost about 1000$ If you do decide to go with plywood, I would not use MDO. I joined a tin forum and most of them use regular plywood. They treat the plywood with old times formula. They will use this sealant on any wood that is on the boat or trailer (transom, deck, lids, bunks) OLD-TIMER S FORMULA One part Boiled Linseed Oil, One part Spar Varnish or Spar Urethane. Two parts Mineral Spirts.

Any Scuba Divers here?
I think it's like an anxiety thing. Not sure. I've done a few trips In the Caribbean, where they will take out non certified and a 2 tank dive for certified. When it was time for the beginners to go, I've saw more than one person on each trip, (I did this 3 times) go into full blown panic mode. On the second trip I saw a grown man cry. Some people made it about 4 foot down and came up. It's not for everyone. That's a shame too. It is the most peaceful thing i have ever done in my life. You can float a couple feet from the bottom and all you hear is your bubbles, when you breathe. I hope you get a chance to do it and everything works out for you

Ocean fishing (stripers vs cod vs tuna)
I started going up for COD. Then they closed the cod season. It really didn't matter we still would catch alot of cod (just had to throw them back) I would rather eat haddock or Pollock anyway. These fish are a little firmer after cooking. The amount I fish we catch vs my friend that fishes south of the ledge are alot. I'm not sure if you will catch cusk down there (my buddy hasn't), but that is one of my favorite fish to eat. They have a little bit of a sweet flavor. They are UGLY looking though. It's a 6hr drive for me, but well worth it. Do your research, read fishing reports from the charters website, if the website only posts about their good days, be sceptical. When I charter a boat that is one of the first things I look for. Oh yeah. If you ever get a chance to go out to the Fipps, JUMP on it. ABSOLUTELY the best saltwater fishing trip of my life!

Ocean fishing (stripers vs cod vs tuna)
You live in a great area for salt water fishing. Every year I charter a boat out of south NH. We go for haddock, pullock and other fish. Eastman's fishing costs around 1200 for a boat that takes 6 people for 12 hrs. The worst trip we had with them, was 143 fish. If you can afford it I would book a charter and not a head boat. The other option you have is fisharkadventures. It is a large group that a person will book a charter and then post open spots to be filled. I have done this and the people are great. I was in Boston (with the wife for business) and jumped on on of these charters. I explained my situation to the gentleman and he offered to lend me on of his rods. Had a great time, even though it was April and I froze my a$$ off?

I cant believe what I just saw!
I didn't read this as sexist at all. I read this as people in our society have become LAZY. I am not a sexist in any way (my wife is the bread winner in our marriage) That being said if this gentleman was handicapped, then I think this is understandable, but I believe what TheRodFather was trying to convey is that people are becoming lazy. I have just had my rotator cuff repaired and it is very hard for me, to watch my wife carry most of the groceries in the house. Not because I'm a sexist, but because I love my wife dearly and I feel like I'm not holding up my part in our relationship. Would I have let that young lady load my groceries, probably not, because I'm stubborn, but if she came over and asked to help, I would gladly accept some help

Any Scuba Divers here?
1st thing is to find out if you're capable of doing it. I'm not trying to insult you but at least 1/2 of the people I have seen try to do it can't. That being said, there are 2 ways in my opinion to try. The first would be a local class that takes to a pool to learn the basics for your certification. The second way (the way I would do, if I had to do it again it) is to do all your online certification items and then book a place in the Caribbean to do your dive certification. There are alot of places (almost every island) in the Caribbean that also offer a beginner scuba. I believe 35' is the limited depth your allowed to go without your certification, but they will instruct you on your basics and then take you out for a limited drive.

Shimano Expride VS St Croix Legend Bass
I have 3 rods that did not have hook keepers. A local rod builder can put a hook keeper on, for about 8 to 15$

Aluminum Angle Issues
Here is where I would use tubing. Eventually you will want to run wires. Given that most Electronics are run off the starting battery, it is best to have a easy way to fun the wires from the stern.

On the Tin Boats forum, the dealer that the people suggest for any wood sealant (transom, bunks, deck...) is OLD-TIMER S FORMULA One part Boiled Linseed Oil, One part Spar Varnish or Spar Urethane. Two parts Mineral Spirts. I've used this in the above applications and it worked very well- Spool Bearing Size
Thank you- Spool Bearing Size
Can someone please tell m what size spool bearings are in a Diawa Tatula tws sv? Thank you- Dropshot Hookset Technique
You're doing everything right, as far as gear. The right hooks, tag end through the hook and the right rod. The pic that @Bird showed is perfect (almost weedless). I take beginners out quite often and their hookup ratio is about 75%. (Braid to fluro) We usually fish isolated rock piles, so we cast to different rock piles. I tell them when you feel the bite, just reel into it! This is one of the easiest ways for me to help a beginner catch bass. By the end of the day, they usually can tell me if it's a small fish. I think you are feeling small fish, but I could be wrong- How are you hooking up your trolling motor.. because I'm CONFUSED
I I've used the Anderson and the minn kota adapters. After a bunch of problems, I finally settled on the battery tender plug. It's a little more expensive than the others, but by far, way better- Weedless bass lures aren't
Found them. They only come in 5/8. Figured I give them a try- Weedless bass lures aren't
Tom, I've been going nuts trying to find the Nemeric Red Ripper weedless spoon. Could you please tell me where I can find these? Thank you- How do Minn Kota built in transducers work on the trolling motors if it's turning?
You can use two different transducers with mega. I have seen boats that use 2 transducers on the transom. 1 for the left side of si and one for the right- 1996 Lowe complete restore
Finally got the boat back from my buddy's shop. Started doing a little carpeting and put the carbon fiber vinyl on the console. I'm padding the front and the back deck, which will allow me to recess the latches and make them flush. - Plywood
