catfish combos?
I bought one of those 7' MH ugly stick catfish rod pair with shimano nexave 4000 size for my brother in law. It is good and affordable but quite heavy for my liking. Myself I have shimano crucial inshore rod 7'2 MH pair with shimano symetre 2500. I use my setup for both bait&wait and drifting with no problem.

Smaller casting reels?
Shimano curado 50e, Chonarch 50e and Core 50, I think they are all using the same body just a little material, bearing inside. Curado was for US market, Chonarch was also US market but in a higher price category, the core would be JDM(Japan domestic market).

Ned Rig not floating?
I did the same when I got a pack, the one that float will always float, but the one that sink if you stretch it a little some a lot will start to float with head down. I separated them use the float one on shroom jig head and the sink ones on dropshot rig.

Smaller casting reels?
Would you like to adopt another Asian son?. Back to topic, I believe 50mg was the same body as curado 100d then curado 70 is smaller, but to me curado 50e is even smaller and fit my Asian hand better. Daiwa pixy if the same as alphas 105, then on the side is about the same as 50e but wider. To me I pick 50e any day, then alphas sv105.

Complimentary lure to fish side by side with a shakeyhead
That what I use for the past few months. I use gammy ewg #2 instead of reg dropshot hook in case of snag. I caught fish on both of them.

OWNER BALL HEAD VS MEGASTRIKE SHAKE2
I use 3/16 owner ultra ball head jig on my Zman stuff like zinkerz, thick worm 10" ribbon worm etc anything that float. I also plan to use 1/8 Megastrike on everything else that not float by itself.

fishing knots
I use this knot with 6 wraps when leader is shorter than 2 feet otherwise uni to uni.

fishing knots
Uni to uni for me as well, it is proven to me many times that my hook knot (trilene knot) would fail before uni to uni (braid to copolymer). Another knot I use when on a water with short leader is surgeon knot, very easy to tie and strength is exceptable.

Shakey-head leader when using braid
I recently got one break off on hookset too and that happened to my dropsot setup with braid main line and 6lbs fluro leader. I concluded the problem is too hard of a hookset combine with no stretch of braid line and very close distance (5-10 ft away). I hardly have this happened with my hybrid line #8 (no leader) same knot, same style of fishing.

The drop shot knot
With bobbler stoper, i only see one problem when you set hook and the hook start moving down the line becuz the stoper itself doesnt have enough strength to hold the hook in place. It might happen when you leave a long tag end. I tried in once or twice but with carolina keeper instead and my tag end always shorter than 12". I still find to tie dropshot or even palomar knot easier and less equipmeny to worry.

The drop shot knot
Are you talking about this one? if yes then I use this knot all the time. Here a link from here japanese dropshot knot.

Bed Fishing
Sorry for bringing up this hot debate, I should have known better. It is all up to individual, no matter you bed fishing or not if you fish in this pre/post spawning, you might pull the bass out from its bed with or without you knowing it full well. I cant stop fishing no matter what time of year so I must admit I would eventually bed fishing, otherwise I would stop fishing all together until you know for sure bass done with their spawning but when April-May or summer when all bass move to deeper water. BTW last year I didnt feel this bad becuz I was in a boat random cast to shorelin where I didnt see bed, was I bed fishing? Who the hell knows.

Using a leader to lose less line during snags?
I was gonna say, some time you can save you lure / plastic or weight with those thick braided line. The hook might be a bit bended or break but that easy fix with plier. Anyway, I use leader to braid when fish mostly plastic.

Dropshot from the bank -- questions (weight, leader)
To me only issue with heavy weight is sometime you cant really feel the bass bite but you feel the tension when lifting your rod. With lighter weight (pensil style weight) it should be able to lift the weight out of whatever it snag into easier, if you feel any tension beyond that it means fish already have your plastic. With those round hevier one, you might not be able to seperate tension of weight snag or fish bite. Again with drop shot most of the time you should be able to feel the bite or see line moving even with heavy dropshot weight. So no worry use whatever works for you.

Bed Fishing
Thanks catt, i just search "bed fishing" on google and come up with a lot of discussion in this forum about this very topic and read a lot of your responses as well. This is my first year target bass directly on bed that why Im concerned. I will try to target deeper bass to find maybe female one who are hungry after spawning.

Bed Fishing
Today I went out for a quick hour after a very disappointed day yesterday (broken my fev rod tip on my first boat trip). There are couple of guy bed fishing in the same area I wanna fish. He told me he saw a few but they dont bite. This is the same bed I tried a few day ago as well with no luck. I tried with my Fat Ika within 5 mins, I got that fish out, just a small 1.5 lbs. Saw a few fish in the same area but couldnt get them to bite either. Another guy came by and said he got another which bite his worm more than 10 times but he doesnt wanna set hook. I went to that spot pitch my ika out a few times until he took it out and start to run. I play with this guy a bit before landing him, pretty good size may be 2.5lb. When I fish for bed fish I fish them quick and try to release them close to their bed. I have read somewhere that sometime the fish doesnt go back to their bed and other fish would eat all their eggs. Now I kinda feel bad a little. What do you think?

Drop Shot On A Baitcaster?
2 and 3 dropshot rig? Hummm I only have 1 either baitcaster or spinning. they both can do 3/16 up to 1/2 oz weight. If I need to go deep just switch the weight (that why dropshot weight with easy grip is for) leave tag end a bit long and clip the weight to the length prefer. I dont even have any specific reel just whatever on my Medium/Fast rod.

Daiwa J-Braid
I recently spool my daiwa sv105 with 30lb j-braid. I've had a problem line dig in and cause backlash every now and then. Tip wrap is another problem but happen only when it windy and when I twisted the rod too fast. I love the softness of J-braid got 20lb on all my spinning reel but thinking about switch the one from SV105 out.
