  1. It shouldn't be matter much on rod size if you plan to use for swimbait. The longer of the rod the distance you gain and most of the time you will be throwing swimbait over head and in open area.
  2. Thanks God not my job to control it. It is my wife job.
  3. If I were you I would keep my mouth shut and enjoy my fishing there. The owner might not even know at all if any fish there. If you bring this object to him he might stop all fishing and you might make the guy that give you permission in trouble too. A nice place to fish with less bass still better than no place to fish at all.
  4. I find it harder to bank fish from big lake/reservoir than a small pond/lake. But here in socal it tough to find a good small lake unless you live in private community with madmade lake. All city park lakes here there are many who fish and take home legal or illegal. with all that said, I also feel bass in big body of water fight harder than small pond.
  5. Need? Just 1 rod 1 reel should be good enough to start your fishing journey. I would start with medium spinning combo. WANT? That up to you or your parent finance situation. A lot of ppl here including myself buy many setup just because they can afford it and it satisfy their want not need.
  6. If you fish in heavy cover, you might need a heavy line and full drag, but open water I would set the drag according to line use. Bass normally doesn't run your line long enough to worry about drag setting. If I need more drag while fighting with fish I will use my thumb press on spool.
  7. Daiwa tatula 6'10 MH/F weight at 3.7 oz. This might not as light as you want but very sensitive and price very good around. I have this rod pair with daiwa alphas 105 compare to my other fav shimano crucial 6'11 M/F pair with curado 70 and every time I switch the rod it feel like night and day.
  8. I do have my favorite but I will change or rotate plastic/lure to the one that never catch fish. My fav are 1. Dropshot (have not fish with this technique for quite some time) 2. Texas weightless (Senko fat Kia including fluke in this category) 3. Shaky head.
  9. Congrat man, that is a nice one.
  10. I was looking at that model too but don't see 499 price tag. How was tha yak? Stable enough? Is the seat adjustable?
  11. I also like fishing small pond/lake better than big lake for bank fishing. It is easier to locate fish and most of the time I see bass chasing shad in the morning. I can catch more than a few from same spot, unlike big lake hardly see any shad, and I hardly catch more than a bass in one spot. I guess bass do school up around shallow in smaller water body.
  12. I love all kind of mushroom too but wouldn't daren eat the wild one. Good job on the fish, I went out fishing too caught two and lost on when she jumped. But the bad part is now my boat is dead.
  13. I would think so specially on Senko. If I'm gonna use this would be on swimbait or may be trailer for swimjig.
  14. Like this one? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Humdinger_Keith_Poche_Power_Spinners/descpage-HDKPS.html
  15. I'm cheap kind of guy, so I don't have any rod/reel for any specific rig. All my spinning gear from Sahara 750 up to 2500 size got 20lb braid daiwa j-braid and leader depend on what I'm gonna fish with from #4 Izorline up to #10 ZYH hybrid . This braid (8 ply) is soft/thin and faded like no tomorrow. If I can do over I will go with 20lb Power Pro.

The bad of Ned rig to me is not catching any fish with it?. I still not quite sure of "do nothing technique" concept of ned rig. In the mean time I caught plenty of fish on TRD. When I started Ned I felt a lot of nibbles from small fish but nothing hook up and those snag thing kept me away from true Ned rig. I'd prefer shaky head (owner ultra head 1/8) over Ned rig.
  17. I only caught one bass with chatterbait, but lost like 2 or three so far. Actually twos but the second jumped and the hook came loose. Actually 4, 2 bass and 2 catfish.
  18. Actually both sizes catch me, I got the Senko kit two of them actually which come with both sizes 4 and 5" diff colors. Lol
  19. Holy ****, I saw them too today, not just one but a small school. I guess they are growing that fast.
  20. Depend on location, I'm gonna fish at. I mostly bring one rod and reel and a back pack with a few bags of plastic and Plano box full with all the hooks/weights when bank fishing sometime two when I wanna try new technique / lure at that location. But at a few parks I can park my car right next to the fishing spot so I bring more rods and reels pre-tie with different kind of lure just in case.
  21. Congrat man, I will try my best to get my PB with proof of scale and photo this year too.
  22. In CA where my lake spawning circle start since Feb, I see a lot of fry from 3-4 weeks ago now I hardly see any. The fish I killed last week still full of egg?. I don't think those fry would get to 3" that quick.
  23. Spawning time should be the best time for shore fisherman since the bass move to shallower area. It doesn't have to be bedding bass just any bass within casting distance. The only part that I don't like is bass not in a group and not always active. I can only get one fish out of the area and move on to the next.
  24. For elaztech stuff, have you look into owner ultrahead with EWG hook? I just use a drop of superglue to make sure plastic stay on the head. Another type of keeper I found that work with elaztech stuff is mustad keeper. It is a little bit harder but you can pre hole with some thick wire (heat it first) then use a drop of superglue on the last knot. Btw ppl will say the spring type keeper work with elaztech plastic by heat the keeper. I found it make a big nasty hole instead of screw it in.
  25. You know what, I never successfully using Ned rig itself. I started fishing Ned since last year and I caught nothing with it. In the mean time Zman TRD works, I use that on my dropshot and Texas rig and caught plenty of bass and one catfish. In fact I caught two today with TRD on Texas rig.
