  1. I do agree with both OC and Rolo, the quality is the best but let me have fun with quantity first. meaning, I normally don't just target big fish, but once in a blue moon I would take my big swimbait out. If I can constantly catch 10-15 fish every trip I would not mind getting skunk once in a while for one of those giant bass. BTW I don't even bother to take pic for fish less than 2 lbs unless it caught on special occasion. To answer the question here, I did not count my catch but most of the time I caught just one or two per trip, I fish roughly 3-4 times a week 2-3 hours each trip. I'd say 40 fish so far for 2017.
  2. This year for me would be shaky head (ball head jig), Ned rig and Jig. Also try to improve on others like Texas weighted rig, crank bait(lipless and jerkbait) / spinner bait / chatter bait. I hardly touch my drop shot rig which I'm very confident and caught me a lot of fish last year.
  3. Who said Z-man plastic last for a long time? I keep losing my to tree and brushes. So today I ordered 3 more packs of Z-man, I think I have now total of 12 different kinds of Z-man plastic plus other 5 different brand but same type elaztech stuffs. I think I'm going nut. BTW, I think tackle warehouse $5.00 off coupon work again.
  4. We in SoCal are done with that chocolate milk now, just wait for the green thing (Algea bloom) which should happen in 3.....2......
  5. Just one? You should be happy. I bought a total of 3, one for my wife, my nephew and my bro-in-law. They are all living with us. So far they've been out fishing (catfish) a total of 2 times.
  6. Or bring tripod with you, set up with go pro or some sort. That way you can have both video and images (snap shot from video). But I doubt you can read the scale with whole fish in the picture unless you taking a high res picture and zoom only to scale display.
  7. I also have a plan for when taking my truck out. I've seen a lot built their rod holder on to truck bed especially with rail track system on the truck. I don't have rail track so I'm gonna use PVC attach to milk crate and tie down, with my backpack inside should be heavy enough to hold it in place. here is another way when I fish within my lake.
  8. Good GF there man, kudos to you. One thing thou you gotta keep her enjoy bass fishing more and more. I started off taking my GF to trout fishing because I thought it would be easier for her with bait and wait type fishing. 12 years later now she become a lovely wife and still only fish bait and wait type and refused to walk around with me for bass.
  9. Thanks @Glennfor reminding about Hula Grub, and @Bassin' Bradfor bringing back the old thread. Caught one today about 3lber on 1/8 owner ultra jig head. Too bad I only brought one and it got destroyed by that bass.
  10. Agreed with J Francho anything in 3-4" should work just fine. I caught so many fish on dropshot on various type of plastic like fluke, tiny fluke, Super fluke Jr. GY twin tail grub Zman TRD etc... if deeper area/ bubba shot I sometime double the size to Super Fluke, Mann 8" jelly worm.
  11. I like Zman TRD especially the deal color. Gotta stock up some myself since I keep losing my rigs to trees brushes and rocks.
  12. I guess, you guys don't know, snake head fillet is very poison. The best way to handle this fish is to freeze them and FedEx to me in dry ice. I'm Asian I know how to dispose them properly.?
  13. Come to think of it, I'd like to re-answer this question. I also would like to go back too not place but in time. I remember when I was in teen, my mom was the one start all of us fishing. It wasn't any kind of hardcore fishing, just a resort/restaurant type with man made pond where you can sit down next to the pond fishing for tilapia or catfish while eating dinner. We did that may be once a month where all family get together, talk, eat and enjoy each other.
  14. I have a pack of hula grub in pumpkin color, tried it only a few time mostly weightless but never caught fish on it.I plan to try it again soon with 1/8 owner ultra football head.
  15. Have you've ever heard " fish first think later" ?
  16. I think each manufacturer has it own sale Point. I do like strike king for rage series, I like Zman since it last a long time. SENKO since it just plain catching fish other like roboworm for color and of course Zoom for fluke. One of my fav of Zoom where I cannot find from anywhere else is Green Weenie color on Z-drop worm. It always the one that I use when nothing else catch fish, but it is very soft and only last 1-2 fish. And also zoom fluke series which I have/use almost every one of them.
  17. Last year I took advantage of rebate too, bought 8 packs or something like that but forgot to mail in rebate by the time I knew, I already thrown away the bags with UPC bar code.
  18. In Thailand you can find these snake head in very shallow water less than a feet deep, they can even survive in mud. They normally will stay under cover structure to ambush pray.
  19. Is that why I can pitch longer distance with my chronarch 50e compare to sv-105? I had been wondering for quite sometime. Is that why I can pitch longer distance with my chronarch 50e compare to sv-105? I had been wondering for quite sometime.
  20. That why I pair with 1/8 or 3/16 shaky head where I normally apply the same technique and same hook set. About loosing plastic, if you wacky rig with shrink tube/o-ring or in my case Elaztech plastic type, I don't loose any. The main real concern to me is, if you snag you end up loose 2 rigs at once(Another reason I use owners ultra head weedless type and also gammy ewg #2 hook for Texas style rig weed less)
  21. Done that many times too with shaky head or shroom jig head. Like @A-Jaysaid it is in fact a drop shot with a lure instead of weight at the end, so I prefer something more subtle and don't need a lot of movement like shaky head.
  22. Not nearly as good as it was before from what I've heard and talked to other. There are too many ppl fishing here someday I found a park full of fishermen, luckily there are quite a handful of spots that you can fish of. Lately I choose to fish where just a few ppl can get into (the north ski lake) I have to walk the trail (a mile long trail) a little bit and have just enough room to pitch between trees and brushes. Now what the question of this post again? Hmmmmm going back? Yeah right, I'm not going no where, this canyon lake is my forever home lol. This is the best place to live in SoCal if you like fishing. I fish almost everyday but only a couple hours. I catch may be one or two fish each trip but at least challenge enough that I have to change location or bait quite often. Btw, you gotta come and fish with me some day so you can show me old trick that might still work for this lake.?
  23. Great mind think alike, huh? When I told my wife I wanna buy some fishing gears, she always say "do you need it or want it?" that make me think for just a bit. like right now I have cart ful of fishing stuffs on Amazon and TW, just waiting for the right moment lol.
  24. Same here for those days I couldn't get a single bite. I even thought to use some of the lipless or jerkbait to snag them up (I snagged one last year and it was fun). Luckily it didn't last long but water look very bad along the shoreline for a few days.
  25. To me, I don't know why they make tatula sv version and I don't think I'm gonna get one at 190 price point. Don't get me wrong I have tatula Ct type r and to me this reel would be more like power fishing. It cast well and controllable on itself already no need for SV spool. It I want something finesse or 1/4 lure weight, I would pick SV105, very light weight, palm well and cast a mile.
