  1. if you are talking about the 4 internal adjustment, I dont think you have to worry about damage or lost it while adjusting. This thing attach to the reel and wont come off like old shimano(I know I almost lost one on my curado 100d) and to break one I dont know how you gonna break the thing this thing dont need adjust ment every time to cast. For side note, I think I read somewhere that on curado 70, 4 brake on and dial on 1, equal 2 brake on older shimano.
  2. Yes baitcaster is faster to cast, less effort and more precise that why when I go fishing I always bring my casting setup. I still gonna skip 3/8 jig or chatter bait with my tatula ct but will always bring my spinning rod in case I wanna skip fluke or senko that way I can use my 50e for crank or jerkbait instead.
  3. @darren. You know what you may be right about simplicity here. I bought two new casting reels and one new rod (tatula 6'10 MH/F) this year mainly for skipping. I can skip with my 50e pretty good but that not just enough for me so I bought tatula ct type R then another daiwa alphas 105. In the meantime I got 3 spinning setup that I hardly use or hardly take them on a boat with me. I just want to be one of those cool guy skipping with baitcaster instead of make my old setup more useful.
  4. I dont use hardware but use BB gun as weight on hook for zman type bait if I want them to sink.
  5. It is no win or loose here, they are both great reels. If anyone hand me anyone of them I would take it anyday. With that said different reel might serve different purpose, even different color/shape or look of the reel also play in part as well. Tatula ct to me is in 100 size reel but reg curado is 200 size or curado 70 which is smaller than tatula CT. daiwa always mag brake system but new curado use SVS braking system which is centifugal braking combine with dial outside for easy/quick adjust or fine tune. I like old centifugal braking system alone like the one from old shimano reels which kind of set it and forget it. I like daiwa ct magnetic braking system which allow me to adjust the braking on the fly according to lure weight or wind condition where I think is more precise than SVS system from curado 70. So you pick which one work or win your heart.
  6. Im try to skip with bait caster as well and I found that almost any reel can skip if you know the reel enough and you have right equipment for the weight of what you gonna skip. 3/8 swim jig I use tatula ct pair with MH fast/xtra fast. Senko/fluke I use chornarch 50e pair wih medium / fast. I can skip now let say 50-70% of the time with out backlash, now gotta pratice for accurately and distance. As side note, I tried to skip with curado 70 and I dont like the result at all.
  7. You can try snag some of shad, run your jerk bait, crank bait or even lipless thru a group of shad and use that for bait.
  8. I thought you are talking about my home lake here in Socal lol. I face the same as your guys in Canyon Lake. It has been since the last rain and I havent get a single bite. I talked to tube and kayak guys, they are doing okay but that only 3-4 fishes for 4-5 hours around dock area where I cannot access without boat. The fish still stay in deep 15' of water. The fish caught most were pretty pale in color. Im going to finish up my boat and register next week so I can get some action.
  9. Never fish with citica but curado 70HG seems to be smoother than my ct r. They both very castable and controllable. I like them both but Im getting rid of my curado 70HG for Daiwa alphas sv 105. I look at shimano as classic and daiwa is sportier.
  10. I would not know how LMB taste like. I ate one a year ago abouy 2lbs which I caught and need to keep it. Every bite I felt guity and sad for the bass???. That was not a very enjoyable meal I ever had from the fish I caught. I do eat fish I caught but not all, mostly saltwater fish. I gave up after a few bites and mywife just kept laughing. She finished the bass herself after and told me that it taste pretty good.
  11. For me, it is everything you said only a slight different is, my wife would question me everything I buy related to fishing. my wife doesnt enjoy fishing much so I use that just to get away from her. seriously though, i love the thrill of getting fish bite that tap tap thing you mentioned. Im only one in the family that enjoy fishing so mostly I fish alone.
  12. My .02 cent start with a better and easy to resale reel is better than cheap combo. If you dont like it you can resale it easier or in case you wanna upgrade the reel you still can sell it at much more value. there are plenty of quality under 100 reels that already mention. I dont think you can sell cheap combo for more than half the price you paid but with let say daiwa tatula you might be able to get back 70%. Cheap but not bad quality rod as other mention lightning rod is the way to go light enough and sensitive enough. I still have one or two laying aroud and ready to use from 10 years ago. Purefishing outlet is also good online source to buy rod and reel. btw ask those who got cheap combo how fast they upgrade their for a better one. If you start with already better you might not even have to upgrade yours for a long long time.
  13. PB is the best, congrat
  14. I also just order tatula 6'10 MH just for jig and skipping jig under dock. Check amazon if that place charge you for shipping, it is about same price but free shipping.
  15. I like those knobs too but in red, do the sell only knobs or have to buy whole handle?
  16. Very good video, keep them coming.
  17. How about pre-sprawn on muddy water? My home lake is so muddy right now from heavy rain we got a few weeks back. As of now I only have a dark blue jig and shaky head with 10" worm also blue. So far no bite yet.
  18. How about just pain white bread?
  19. Thank, i know what im gonna get next?
  20. I was gonna start a new thread about daiwa alphas 105 but here might be better since a lot of daiwa guys are here?. Can anyone post pics compare between alphas sv105 and shimano curado 70 or 50e?
  21. I like 50e a lot in smaller profile reel type. The 70 is also good comfortable but my asian hand like 50e better. It also depend on rod the reel will be seated in too.
  22. A friend of mine told me he knows someone who gladly buy every carp he catch. I believe they are arabian or something in that region. I think this one sold for 50 bucks. Asain people also eat carp especially chinese who know how to cook them.
