  1. TO make you even more confusing, daiwa alphas103 , Pixy and SV-105, I believe built from the same platform(smaller), then there are zillion, Tatula CT and SV-103 also same platform a little bit Bigger. to compare with shimano - Pixy alphas 103, SV-105 is 50 size reel include curado 70. Tatula CT, SV 103 is 100 or 150 size shimano.
  2. You got PMed, Canyon Lake is private lake but not as easy to fish or I don't know what I'm doing.
  3. If lure weight 1/4 or lower, I would go with daiwa alphas sv105. It lighter and smaller than tatula Ct sv at about the same price. It cast light weight lure pretty well without worrying about backlash too much. Curado 70 is nice but something not quite right, someday it cast good oftentimes not.
  4. Used to fish there last year, in fact I used to live like a few miles from lake Perris. Now I live in Canyon Lake. If you need a map of lake Perris let me know it got all the depth and lay down.
  5. Welcome aboard. I'm also in SoCal riverside area. Used to fish some saltwater when I lived in seal beach but now only bass.
  6. Welcome here man. I'm also in SoCal down here in Canyon Lake.
  7. gears is replaceable but not yourself. I know it is not gonna happen quick keep begging, nagging she will give in soon enough.
  8. I use it but only when I want my fish on scale, and only when fish look to be more than 2lb. That was my plan too, to have a gripper plastic type roped to kayak in order to let fish stay in water while I prepare scale or camera.
  9. At least you got to fish. One day not long ago, I came back from night long hour work, set up to go fishing at lake Perris. Spent 30 mins tried to hook up the trailer down on my knee and my back to fix the malfunction hitch. Drove off half way and darn I forgot something very important, turn back home to get that stuff and back to lake Perris. And you wouldn't believe what happened next, the lake was close for algae bloom treatment. There goes my hours spent for nothing.
  10. Wait unti day 10 11 12 .... , you will catch more and more, be patient young Jedi.
  11. I set mine not to have any side play just free falling when cast to help eliminate backlash sometime I don't even have to thumb.
  12. X2 on how to adjust properly tension spool from @fishnkamp posted. I also agree on distance but this thing can skip the alphas 105 that is. I don't use this reel to bomb cast as much mostly skipping pretty light weight lure. even though it won't cast as good as my 50e but not a lot of backlash to worry when I cast 1/4oz lure and also I can adjust distance by loosen the brake a knot or two.
  13. I might try to catch one with pop corn since it float and I always see carp near by when bank fishing.
  14. Have you tried pop corn?
  15. Are we getting pretty crazy in fishing world, pitching reel, cranking reel, top water reel, finesse reel what else? Swimbait reel? Chatterbait reel? Jerkbait reel? Oh how about Ned rig reel? May be we enjoy more of having fishing gear than actually fishing.
  16. Tatula CT, CT type R and SV, I believe they use the same size flame which is smaller than regular Tatula. If you want smaller reel you will have to get SV105. BTW I'm not a 100% daiwa guys just yet but happen to have Tatula CT and Alphas SV105 and like it a lot. My next reel gonna be another SV105 for sure.
  17. Carbine? If you mean fluorocarbon then I don't see the need especially for spinner bait type lure. 12 or 14lbs test is also good for your reel which can hold 140yds of 12lb test. I'm not an expert about fishing line so other might be more helpful.
  18. I don't see the need for you to upgrade the rod for right now. Your cherrywood is good for those spinnerbait buzz bait. It might not be as sensitive as expensive rod but if you know how to palm your reel and let the line sit on top of your index finger you can feel every d**n thing. My suggestion is to go out there and fish the hell out of it, your money can go toward other lures, like Senko, fat ika and fluke or drop shot weight and plastic. you fish 7 times and only caught 2, I fish for 5-7 years on-off and caught less than 5. Nothing wrong with your setup you just need to try different thing or location.
  19. Gotta try that one, since my lake doesn't stock trout. I caught two on 68 but the guy (marine patrol) told me shad would be better here.
  20. Braid would help but you can still using mono not FC line make sure your line is not underwater by raise the rod tip high. Crank faster if it is still non spin. Normally with any top water I will cast far out then steady retrieve. Once the lure is in strike/target zone I'll slow down by pause and retrieve.
  21. If ocean fishing every trip when come back, fresh water hardly ever.
  22. Don't feel bad man, I also avg. 1-2 fish or may be none each 2-3 hours trip, and I fish private lake.
  23. It might, try it for a while if happen again then replaced the wormgear and pawl. While you at i you can check worm gear if any grease in there, add if needed.
  24. Nice looking backyard. I wish some day I can have backyard like that.
  25. JustJames replied to CTBassin860's topic in Fishing Tackle
I ordered some plastic/lures from Amazon before. I always compare price at least to bass pro cabela's and tackle warehouse. Mostly the one I found a reasonable price compare to other is add-on stuffs where you have to add up to 25 prime for free shipping. If I only need a few, I'll check on Amazon first becuz I dont have to pay shipping and it get here pretty fast.
