  1. I dont use braid on 70 but had it on curado 100d. For me 30lbs braid is good enough, enough strength to pull fish out from cover, cast good and no line digging. I dont fish a lot of heavy cover so I dont see the need of bigger braid.
  2. You are d**n right about that. Just all the pro changing line every tournament then come other follow with change line every season. The only concern I can see if ppl keep their reels or line in garage with can get extremely hot or cold might damage the line.
  3. I dont know about that. I like the smaller size of shimano 50e and 70. I used to have 100d and ct 50. It shows I prefer smaller size reel. The only reel I have beside shimano is helios which is about 100 size reel as well.
  4. Thanks guys for all the reaponses. I think I know the answer myself since I already got a new spool of Izorline #15 to use on my cardiff 200 and luna 253. Where Im gonna be using a lot for small and medium size swimbait. FYI, most of the line still soft and still pretty strong at knot the only stiff one is XT but that also a nature of this line. I didnt test it since Im not brave enough to break 17lbs line with my hand even with glove on lol. Ill save that for when I fish for catfish which I dont care much if I loose them.
  5. Or you can tie directly to split ring or snap when use braid, get rid of unnecessary knot.
  6. Eversince I started throwing big swimbait, I went thru my old tackle box/cabinet mostly my saltwater gear which I have not use for a long time. I found brand new 20lbs trilene XT(filler spool) 25 big game(1/4 spool) 17lbs BPS excel1700 yds spool and 14lbs stern, along with some reels. This line might be very old from 4-5 years up to who know? All the line were in tackle box inside cabinet in garage. Do you think these line still usable?
  7. Yeah, kind of wanna step in the dark side lol. I am thinking of another curado 70xg or tatula ct. Ill be using this reel for dock skipping. I think that mag brake on tatula might be good for this application.
  8. Until my wife say so which she has already mention that awhile ago.?
  9. X2 for J-braid here, it soft somewhat manageable and pretty cheap. I use 20lb on my spinning, the leader depend on what lure im gonna fish with some I dont even bother.
  10. Thanks. Yup the ct is a tad longer and wider than 50. Any chance to get a shot on palm side. thanks
  11. Where did you get those at that price? I might be in market for one. thanks edit nevermind I see it from american legacy, i think they out of stock on RH 7.3 as of now
  12. Anyone got both reels can you take picture side by side, please? It is okay if compare to 50e as well. I went to local today, but they dont have CT in stock just regular tatula. Another question how the reel palm compare to Shimano? Thanks
  13. Nah not right now. Im working on big swimbait right now.
  14. I got both 90 and 130 size. So far only catch one on 90, but I didnt fish with them much at all. Ill for sure get into more of hard lures next year.
  15. Or you can just twist around and make a new hole every now and then.
  16. It doesnt matter if it high price lure or cheapy wally word plastic as long as it catch fish. you know what work in your area, think like you gonna buy those for yourself.
  17. I dont mind where it make as long as it big brand company, but would I pay more for made in Japan or USA depends on how much more. I believe in QC and material use for all the parts of reel. Big company most likely have better QC and also better material than those counterfit or cheap brand. With that said a lot of product from chinas can sell a lot cheaper because they copy others and use lower grade of material.
  18. X2 here. a wise man tell me that trick awhile ago and it works like a charm. I have daiwa j-braid 20lbs which is pretty soft on my spinning rig every once awhile I'd get windknot or tip wrap, all i have to do is to cast it out as far as I can and reel it back in with my thumb pinch between the line.
  19. I normally will bring only one rod since Ill be walking and casting a lot along the bank. I also can re-tie new lures faster than walking back and forth. Believe me sometime I leave the other rod behind that I cant even see it from distant if I bring two rods. Occationally Ill bring two rods but that rod will be for specific lure that I know I will fish all the time the whole trip.
  20. That is very very exciting video, d**n soaking wet in 40 degree water for that long, i dont know if I can do that. Too bad I moved more inland and dont have time and energy to go surf fishing. I still have one of the reel penn 965 for one of these day.
  21. I still have my sahara 750 FB. It is still nice and smooth little reel. This reel also came with aluminum spare spool in a box. I recently bought sysmetre FL, now it come in plastic wrap with no spare spool. I dont fish with spinning alot these day but last time I check my sysmetre is still good.
  22. I feel your pain man Almost exactly thing happened to me with my brand new LC pointer. I even got into water half wet and use my rod tip tried to un-snag it. It was almost at my reach but in order to retrives it I have to dive down. I didnt but use home made knocker and poof the line broke. maybe 5 mins later I saw a big fish jump where my lure snag. I think he got away with my lure there.
  23. X2 but with small braid, and light lure you might have problem of wind knot and braid wrap around the tip. Any size spinning reels, you cannot really avoid line twisted with mono or fluro but some will be manageble with suitable line, or smaller line depend on size. On my sahara 750 come with spare spool so I have one with braid and another with 4lb Izor line when Trout fishing. I still see some twist but very minimum. All other of my spining reels sysmetre 2500 president 6930 and cheap daiwa now got daiwa J-braid 20lb. you can try 8lb with line conditioner, if you still got the line twiste problem then go smaller like #6 copolymer or use swivel to help reduce line twist. Check this out to prevent line twisted. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/line-twist-spinning-reel.html
  24. I believe 6925 is about the same size, let say shimano 2500. But if you want both sizes reels, buy Shimano sysmetre FL 2500 and spare spool size 3000. I believe they are interchangeable. Now you have 2500 with 6-8 lb line and 3000 with maybe braided line.
