Multi species fishing
If I go for multi species, my go to would be road runner. I have them all in 1/32 all the way to 1/8 plain or marabou. For trailers you use anything grub, paddle tail but my most productive is simple 2” baby Shad.

Daiwa Tatula TW 80
I don’t doubt you at all, just know that Daiwa use other reels in this case Zillion to show some features same when you look at Alphas. But nevertheless I don’t think it is matter now we just have to wait until Daiwa give more info. BTW per Daiwa website, Tatula use same spool diameter as alphas, I think, I can say now 98% chance of getting this reel.

Daiwa Tatula TW 80
Did you check from specification or just look at picture? They are using other reels picture, but if it is indeed Alphas frame, there is high possibility to be free floating spool. Edit alphas and this Tatula use same size spool per specification 32/21mm.

Daiwa Tatula TW 80
That reel look really interesting reel. From the top looks like alphas SV TW but the palm side similar to Tatula 100. If it is alphas frame, I’m sell my core 50mg for this one. Beyond looking more, 32mm spool and 85mm handle, 80 size reel (alphas is 800) This might be an blackout alphas. Thanks for making me spending money, my wife’s gonna hate you. Man I can’t stop searching for more info on this reel now. 180g VS 175g (alphas) and no mentioned of SV or spool material. The spool capacity is about the same as alphas. This spool might be cheapened out G1 spool (hopefully no shaft). This might fill the gap between my alphas and 21 zillion.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
I’m lucky to live here in private lake but there are those problem as well. Even worse we don’t have size limit and being in private lake not a lot of checking. I saw some groups kept like 100 of them down to 5-6”. I even jokingly asked them what is he gonna do with crappie those small, he said fry them whole. I do keep some too just enough to make my wife happy with all the spending ???, but only 11-13”. We only have a few spots for crappie where by now everyone knows. Those ppl/family with 5 gallon bucket alway come to spot in morning or evening that why I alway fish for crappie after sunset.

Is a Shimano Ci4 1000 reel ok for Bass fishing. If so a good rod to pair it with.
I don’t see nothing wrong with 1000 size. I also use 1000/2000 for bass. I use 10lb braid/super line. I pair mind with M/F rod Daiwa Tatula and Major craft nano ace which should cover all the techniques you listed.
-
Majorcraft Nanoace - initial thoughts...
You gonna like the rod for sure. Major Craft is really shine on light weight and well balance even with long rod. The sensitivity is also very good and can complete with any other higher price rod. I don’t have Nanoace in casting but like my 7’ M spinning which fish as nice as my Tatula Original. I was gonna order 7’3 ML spinning for my crappie fishing but they are always out of stock, so I ordered Major Craft Crostage 7’8L spinning from Japan. Check tackle warehouse after you posted and now 7’3 is in stock ???. This is gonna be my 6th MC rod and I call it super best bang for bucks.

Shimano Calcutta 50/51 Same As Shimano Conquest 50/51 Spool Question
I don’t think CQ spool gonna fit into Calcutta. It has been a long time since I sold my Calcutta, but if I remember correctly spool shaft doesn’t come with bearing, does it? I can check shaft length and spool diameter on CQ if you want.

Left handed baitcasting reel
I’m right hand and been using right hand reel for 30 plus years. Now I use both mainly right hand reel for moving bait, left hand reel for finesse bottom contact fluke and jerkbait. It was uncomfortable at first but really worth it for me now when working the rod for long period of time with right hand.

Daiwa tatula LT 3000 CHX antireverse issue.
Maybe Daiwa would look your reel under warranty?

Zillion SV TW G clicking drag - why?
Of course if you pull the line slowly, you would feel more resistance and a little jerkiness from clicking pin gilded along the groove not drag pressure . This will not happen in real world fishing, once the fish taking drag, line would get out smoothly not out and stop and out (jerky motion). This system a little bit different than spinning, where zillion sv tw using spring loaded pin to push out into groove at all time. You might be able to tame the jerkiness with a little lubricant on the clicking drag system. It is special reel ??? or I would say magic of digital world.
-
How many rod brands do you use?
80% of my rods are Daiwa Shimano majorcraft.

Zillion SV TW G clicking drag - why?
I’ve never noticed jerky problem with my JDM zillion SV TW. I don’t really care for that zillion plastic drag sound. Might be good when I fish for catfish lol.

Should I be looking at BFS?
I totally agree and been doing that with my friends or my wife when they wanna fish with me, why because that don’t have enough experience with baitcaster. The thing is, this is not a thread about which one is better but specifically for Baitcasters with light lure. Just like if OP want to eat chicken but you told him to eat steak?
-
Should I be looking at BFS?
There are many benefits using baitcaster with light weight lure compare to spinning. Don’t agree so fast if you never tried one. I’m not gonna talk about distance since that is varies from one to another. Line twisted, especially the lure that trend to spin when cast like lipless crank, road runner, kastmaster or even simple small paddle tail with jig head. Windknot, especially with techniques that retrieve line when slack like fluke, jerkbait. Casting and accuracy, I cannot cast spinning with left hand, I can’t get accuracy with side arm cast, and it harder to pitch with. I much prefer baitcaster when fish in limited space.

Medium Light Fast Rod Uses
As much as I love my Shimano Crucial ML 1/16-1/4oz rod, I don’t use it for bass very often. It would work for things like 1/20 or 1/16oz Ned rig, 1/8oz in-line spinners, even 1/8oz small paddle tail swimbait or some weightless worm Texas/wacky rig (not Senko) but the tip is a little too soft and might not get good penetration hookset at long distance. Anything with weight over 1/8oz, the rod feel over loaded while retrieving. In term of fighting bass, I have no problem with it and caught quite a few good size ones. This rod though become my favorite big slab hunter.

Tired of it
Not to the extreme but yes I’m getting tired of fishing sometimes. I cannot stand fishing 5-8 hours day anymore if I fish by myself. The problem is I fish almost every day but only 1-2 hours on only one 400 acres lake.

Uneven Spooling on Spinning Reel
This might be another problem. Daiwa have cross-wrap technology meaning line lay in spool crossing each other. Your connection knot might be in a way on some cast?
-
Stradic FL, Vanford or Tatula LT. Talk me into it.
For 2500/3000 for me either Vanford or Tatula LT. I like solid feel of aluminum frame but not really crucial for regular bass fishing. Just like you, I think Vanford is not as smooth as Tatula and not as lower inertia. I think because Vanford come with more protection while Tatula have none(more parts). The Tatula though is about 70 cheaper and might due for new upgrade version soon.

Cleaning reels
I deep clean mine probably once every two years or even longer or some reels. I do minor cleaning once or twice a year or as needed. I agreed with Spinning is more complicated when taking apart compare to baitcaster. Too many tiny parts involved and each brand need diaphragm . Baitcaster is very straightforward and basically the same all across different manufacturers. Minor cleaning for me is oil spool bearing, cleaning drag stacks, spray clean and Lube worm gear, add grease to main gear if needed, clean spool shaft and inside pinion hole. Deep cleaning, take apart most things down and degrease, flooded spool and frame bearing. BTW my reels don’t get use too hard probably 3-4 time a year

Daiwa Kage LT Knob

Daiwa Kage LT Knob
eBay is your friend but you are gonna pay a lot more when compare to Japan shop online. Tackle trap used to have some in stock and check out flea market at TT, I see it pop up here and there. They want big money for OG Daiwa cork knob.

Learning Lefty
@Bluebasser86really have a point about losing some big fish while learning here and if it were one of the trophy bass, I would kick myself in the arse hard. This come down to why and how long you have used right handed reel. My experience after using right handed conventional reel with level wide and none level wide guide for 30 plus years. The transition wasn’t very smooth at all unlike those right hand but started left hand at very beginning. I now can have two setup right and left same lures and switch hand once one get too tired. It is really a must for me know after a left frozen shoulder and a hard year of bad swinging golf clubs, I’m glad I can switch hand. But I still prefer right if big fish on the line almost lost two setups while setting hook with my right hand.
