  1. I’m still a beginner and I say spinnerbait is harder to catch fish compare to any other bottoms contact type lure for those bank fisherman. With spinner, you’ll have to worry about speed, depth and where or location that hold fish, otherwise you would have to do a thousand casts before you nail one(right location and right timing).
  2. Totally agree, two days ago it got so windy here in SoCal, I went out with lipless crank, 1/4oz RES to be exact, and got about 6-7 hook up but land only 3. Today got only one about 3 lb but I spent most of the time searching for crappie. On the way back to lamp, I saw a whole bunch of shad in middle of the lake and a bigger fish seem to be crappie around them.
  3. I’d try Hula Grub 4” or 5” weightless with 1/0 ewg hook.
  4. I normally don’t fish bad weather, but being in CA, we hardly have bad weather to begin with. I remembered my first hudds fish caught in pretty cold windy and rainy weather in early February, still gave me a thrill until this day. Why? Because I almost fall down the rip-rap that day, and every time I see the spot, I think to myself, was I stupid.

I have been wearing Transitions progressive lenses with UV coated for quite awhile, it works okay but not as good as dedicated sunglasses. I can tie knot with glasses on but I mostly take it off because I can see close better without (tie knot and unhook treble hook). Next year I plan to get prescription sunglasses with polarize just for fishing.
  6. This ^^^ Super Fluke Jr and swimming Fluke.
  7. Never happened on my Alphas SV, but happened a few times on old Steez. I think the dial tension become loose overtime. I’ve seen TT shown how to fix the V clip.
  8. Yeah I did try on a couple reels but mostly as leader to my 10lb braid. It is pretty good strong knot, and reasonable abrasion resistance. The line is pretty weak if any nick, but that to be expected with such small line.
  9. @A-Jayyour situation always phenomenal can’t compare to anyone here. The problem is a lot of news and old which mostly bank fish, or not a lot of those big bass, not deep structures fishing just a small pond with not a lot of structures on bottom just some weed. I don’t really see the need or high strength, high abrasive resistance or high knot strength. I said base on how I fish and where I fish, which is not a lot of cover, just some rock and rip rap. Do I lost fish, yes you bet but that is part of the game. I don’t think I need such too expensive line for this, do i? Lol
  10. @WRBI know it is not FC line, it just to show @A-Jaythat I bought a cheap bulk spool as well lol. This line is bigger than 6lb red label .007 but smaller than 6lb vanish line .009. My 4lb line Izor line is as big as 6lb red label. I didn’t actually order this line, I ordered 4lb line for crappie but Amazon shipped me the wrong one. Now two of my bass setup using this line and I have no problem with it.
  11. Done and done. i think i spent less than 10 bucks on this spool from Amazon, and I bet you I can catch as many or as big to the guy next to me, giving that I’m not too lazy to re-tie my knot.
  12. A price per spool of FC line does add up. Imagine some use 100-200 setup and spend 30-40 bucks for 200yds spool of FC line. I agree on the thing between you and that trophy fish is line, but as well as hook, smooth drag and playing the fish. Some can catch big fish on 6-8lb while other have problem breaking off with 10-12lb line.
  13. I’ll try at your lowest budget ~ 100 1 SLX 2 SLX HG 3 SLX XG. in the middle 1 200K 2 200K HG 3 200K XG top of your budget 1 bantam MGL 2 bantam MGL HG 3 bantam MGL XG
  14. Time to make my wife happy. I plan to keep maybe 20-30 of these 11-13” this year. Gotta show her why I’ve spent hundreds of for fishing gear, right? Happy wife happy life.
  15. Medium light or Light spinning setup is fun to catch small pond size bass. You can cast weightless finesse worm a good distance with those. The key is to use smallest diameter line you can get away with. I use 8-10lb power pro or Sufix 832.
  16. Oh no, don’t say that. I would hate it if that is really happened.
  17. You can carry a small back pack with some tackle box. You should try at least a couple lures each trip and try to get confident with whatever work. Try at least one moving lure and one bottom contact. Spinnerbait, small lipless or chatterbait for fast moving lures. Weightless 4” senko, weightless wacky rig senko, light Texas rig or light dropshot rig with 4-6” worm. If you want topwater try small popper or jitterbugs. All this can be fish with Medium Fast 8-10lb copolymer line. Subscription box is good but you will end up more than half of what you cannot use. Most of the OC ponds are muddy bottom with some weed but no other structure. A lot of time you will have to finesse (downsize and slow) to buy some bites. I can fish Wednesday and Thursday morning if you wanna come this way. I’ll let you try some of my stuffs, including your son that I can hook him up with bluegill rig.
  18. You can add bobbers stopper on bottom of your bead/weight and adjust accordingly. I like Carolina keeper better because heavy weight can slide down bobber stopper.
  19. This evening I was so happy I got check for fishing license again, this time by real warden. He sent a few groups home as I can see but not sure if any ticket issued. Glad to see them here in Canyon Lake since it is private lake and a lot dont follow the rules.
  20. Do you really have to tell everyone everything? I did that with roboworm too, I think it also help the worm to sink a little faster fish weightless with glide/swim action, also flat bottom on roboworm mostly dark brown, so you got different color. Now for flat bottom worm for drop shot, my favorite used to be Zoom Z drop, green weenie to be specific. So I think flat worm should work just fine plus you got scent to help.
  21. Anything should work, I’ll op for weightless worm since golf course normally shallow. And if you can fish early or night try whopper plopper or jitterbug. Dont waste your money on senko, try alternative like yum dinger, strike king stick worm or BPS brand. Is this Golf course pond legal to fish? I remember when ninja fishing for catfish on golf course pond behind my backyard. I got hit within 10 second of my bait hit the water and hit after hit.
  22. Congrats to that boy and the bass look huge without those long arm.
  23. Sure why not? I only fish on wed and Thursday and in evening. Too bad now HOA want homeowners to stay with their guests so whenever you wanna fish let me know.
  24. The 48 version of savior look good and just a little more than KK 24 version. Savior should have enough room for at least 10 combo on one side. Remember when you setup your rod rack along the wall, you would use mostly only one side facing out, so get as wide as you can fit. You don’t have enough combo now? Don’t worry they will come sooner or later, by the time you know it, you would need more rack.
  25. Ugh it is only 4+1 bearing same as Casitas USDM and casitas MGL, so NO no x-ship bearing only 1 bearing support pinion gear which most shimanos has this bearing. On X-ship shimano instead of one you would have two support on either side of pinion. I like this set up better than x-ship bearing, I swapped out bearing for bushing on one of my Curado 70.
