  1. did they finally get with the program and put on hook keepers for the north American market?
  2. Me too. former Sufix 832 user. Now I use Sufix Siege mono for everything.
  3. I learned to baitcast 20+ years ago when there were very few lefties out there. I am right handed, so I cast and switch. I can't unlearn this. its like breathing.
  4. i haven't used Superior but I am a die hard Siege fan and I haven't noticed the bumpy feeling, the line is smooth. not sure if its that particular mono?
  5. if it were me i would pick up one of the SLX baitcasting rod combos. a lot of bang for the buck i would think. a 7 foot med. power or longer should do the trick with the SLX reel, which has the VBS brake system which is very easy to use and cast.
  6. ok but just because a mono or copoly have the same diameter doesn't necessarily mean they have the same breaking strength. for example, I would be willing to bet that 0.015" Big game is harder to break than say, 0.015" trilene XL
  7. this thread is refreshing to me to see because so many of us are recommending mono as the best all around/overall line. 5 years ago it was all braid braid braid and we would have been flamed off the earth if we had mentioned mono lol
  8. Sufix Siege for me, 12 pound on Baitcasting, 8 or 10 on spinning.
  9. if you would like a mono that works well on both spinning and casting, try Sufix Siege. its as strong as Big Game but much more limp, limp enough to use on spinning gear. its about the only mono I've found that has properties that is good on both spinning and casting hear. and its abrasion resistant too. but it is thick like Big Game though. same diameter.
  10. I used to use Big Game and switched to Sufix Siege, in 12 pound for casting gear. its amazing stuff, strong and low memory.
  11. it must be fake news from anti-loomisites
  12. true, but Loomis has had QC issues with all their rods, even the ones 3x the price of the E6X. Remember all the broken reel seats with the NRXs? it was insane.
  13. one thing I cant figure out is why the E6X gets bashed for using aluminum oxide guides while the Avid X never does? it uses aluminum oxide too! only the original avid has the alconites.
  14. I just bought the 892S JWR. it feels awesome. I also have the MBR 903c and love it. a couple of points: 1. the 2018 models are lighter than the original models, that is part of the diversity of reviews. some of the heavier power original models are a bit heavier, the newer versions are lighter. Amercian Legacy says their field testers say they are more crisp like the Imx pros. 2. some models are said to fish better than others. I too wonder, because I love my E6Xs and I have many other loomis models (TSR, Escape series, GL3s)
  15. shimano sahara the black and gold ones. I have heard many good things
  16. my fav. all around rod is the Loomis E6X MBR 903c, a 7'6 MH power fast action rod. love it esp. from shore as it can really bomb baits out there with the extra length.
  17. Thanks! I know the IMX Pro and GLX are worlds above the E6X, but with the Canadian dollar being what it is, they cost a fortune up here, even on ebay Canada. A quick search just showed GLX's at $598 and IMX's at $445. Cost prohibitive for me. I can manage the E6Xs though lol
  18. this weekend at my local fishing show im going to be picking up the Loomis E6X JWR 892S. its supposed to be an amazing smallmouth rod, there are youtube videos talking about how it was designed with the smallies in mind. I love the extra long Loomis rods and this rod being 7'5 will fit in nicely in my collection. just wish I could afford the IMX Pro version, but up here in Canada it goes for $430-ish dollars! Almost double what the E6X version costs
  19. yes! I have one of the mag light rods, the GL3 SJR700 and its an awesome little rod.
  20. I have two E6X's and love them also. I have heard it said that certain models of E6X fish better than others and there may be something to be said about that, because it seems people either love them or hate them. Personally, I like the Loomis tapers better than St. Croix (eg. the MBR taper esp. in the longer lengths is tough to beat).
  21. I may be in the minority here, but I really like my curado 200i.
  22. ive been using the Berkley reel oil for years now on my shimanos both baitcasting and spinning. works great and you can buy it at any tackle store (as opposed to shimano reel oil which I can't find anywhere locally other than the little vial they give you when you buy a new reel lol)
  23. I too like sufix siege 12 pound for baitcasting. 10 if you want to cast even farther.
