  1. Hoping to be fishing but I’ll listen to some ball on the radio while cracking smallies (or catfish)
  2. A rake and leaf blower are now just part of my arms
  3. Man I used to think that too, now I just get roped into all the prep and stress. Like today they wanted me to transport the turkey and I got sprayed by a skunk. And of course I did all that on purpose and it’s my fault . Humbug. Boxing Day is rapidly becoming the only one I like. 🦨
  4. This is the second holiday in a row yall have posted a day early, quit confusing me .
  5. If only the fish knew they were all supposed to be at the exact same depth across the entire river
  6. It’s riding with me in the work truck, not my idea
  7. It’s rough, this will be one to forget . All those clothes I packed an maybe the bird are potentially ruined. I hate holidays
  8. Well my company is folding and has been losing money for years and we refuse to change anything so after 16 years I’m looking at starting something else, might have completely wasted a customer base and building skills all this time. Yee haw. So instead of retiring I’m starting a new career and retiring is a pipe dream I’ve got a bunch of buddies that stay way too busy remodeling , kind of intriguing. Some days I wish I never went to college, they made it sound like you get a gold watch and a cake on your last day
  9. Got sprayed by a skunk, happens every single holiday or wedding , guaranteed. Murphy’s law doesn’t just apply to fishing
  10. I’ll just be getting started if i make it 20 more years.
  11. I have been soundly defeated in friendly competitions by friends slow rolling a spinnerbait thru water willow, not over it. The grass stands well above the surface and they pull the bait along the bottom in 0-3’ of water fair warning : I’ve tried this for decades and caught basically nothing 😂
  12. As per the rules of major circuits you could fish a pirogue in a small enough derby
  13. Blade bait, spoon, tube, paddle tails, 4 inch worm/grub on a jighead, small fluke/minnow bait on jig head, jerkbait, crankbait , hair jig, wobble head with craw, and just a plain ole skirted jig hmmm anything but topwater and even that works sometimes 😂
  14. They def avoid snags better in the shallows
  15. 1) why not use a floating jerkbait
  16. No wonder you know how to do everything! We were stuck in the classroom learning useless algebra while you were outside leaning how to build
  17. Smallmouth season is about to begin here in the next few weeks so hopefully I can keep culling. I don’t keep very good count but I’ve caught 3 21” this fall I believe and maybe a couple earlier in the year. I would imagine I have a 5 SMB lineup of 21” but they probably weighed in around 18-20 lbs. Our SMB are rarely fat so I’m just guessing a 21” is 3.5-4 lbs average water temps are still 62, when it gets below 55 the SMB really start eating fish hooks
  18. Watauga is good for bank fishing, lots of good points to fish from on public land . Colder the better, people just make a fire. Rubber boots recommended for the clay
  19. Yes sir
  20. Places I catch fish offshore: the edge of the river channel That’s seriously about it for me, but that does leave hundreds of miles of water I will never explore in a lifetime, just like eufala
  21. @Bluebasser86’s “not huge” catfish is friggin huge
  22. Sure do haha. I use mine to hold pliers and scissors. My buddies always put their rods in them against my advice and it’s not long before you hear “CRACK!”
  23. I’m guessing if they didn’t need to they wouldn’t
