People send me pictures of wildlife everyday and the caption says “please catch this “ photographing and catching/killing are way different. I could take pictures of deer everyday but I doubt I could kill one survival instinct is real and it doesn’t activate when you get your picture taken. A great example in my area is the Cherokee national forest vs the great smoky mountains national park. The forest allows bear hunting, the park doesn’t. You could go for weeks without ever getting a photo of a bear in the forest, a bear will take your camera out of your hands and eat it in the park- Catch and Release
That reminded me of fishing with my prankster buddy is south Alabama . There was a monster gator laying in the mud about 40 yards away, we were just kind of admiring it. My buddy hollers “everybody back!” and brandishes a CO2 bb pistol and starts unloading it. The bb’s were losing elevation and dropping into the water about halfway to the alligator hahaha- Latest Catch Pics Thread
My buddy got a couple nice ones last night, current was raging- How to convert with smallmouth follows into bites?
There is no magic wand, wild creatures are unpredictable. Keep cycling through baits and retrieves until they hit. I would try a fluke or a jerkbait for a reaction strike- Can't help what bites the lure!
Nice fish! They all eat the same thing therefore hang out in the same places- Catch and Release
Camera doesn’t poke a hole in the creature- I'm In
Those plant identifier apps are about as good as a weather prediction- Any interest in trapping?
Bat exclusion work- I'm In
My wife has a white oak branch for photo shoots , I’ll photo graph it later. Also white oak bark is a little flaky/exfoliating, more so as it goes up from the base out to the branches. They described is at cat scratched bark in college- Any interest in trapping?
Champion creature of Appalachia- Something To Look Forward To
I used to have a sign hanging in the house that said “a man has to believe in something…….. I believe I’ll go fishin”- just touching bases. Scratches in a Kayak.
^now there’s a fisherman- just touching bases. Scratches in a Kayak.
Character. a kayak is one thing I don’t like to drag on a boat ramp. I used to guide kayak trips for an outfitter and we put holes in the back of several kayaks. Aluminum is much tougher than plastic- Has anyone experienced a much tougher season than last year, or do you think it’s just because summer is generally tough?
From the sound of things the last 4-5 years, I think y’all needed a drought or two up that way- The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
I don’t like them either, but I’ll root for anyone over Atlanta- September
I live in the land of river smallies so September is awesome. One of my favorites- I hate spinning gear
I took this pic just for this thread yesterday……… Last night one of my rigs went into the drink. I swam for close to an hour trying to find it, I think it was too deep and the dam release was coming soon so I gave up. Figured I’d use my braid rig………. I tied the perfect leader knot and fished for a while. At some point, as always, the braid got wrapped around the tip. I was a tad frustrated already so I guess I reeled it too tight, the braid just snapped. In a near fit of rage, I stripped all the stupid braid off and put 6 lb mono on, and of course finished the evening tangle free. straight mono makes things quick and easy, especially in places where break offs are inevitable (swift water full of logs and rocks)- The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
